This movie was not great, but not horrible. At some parts there was humor, others felt that they left some spaces empty. I read the book before I saw the movie, the book was better than the movie in MY opinion. The book made you feel like you were in the movie, which it was supposed to do. The movie made you feel lost, like a.... soap opera, in Spanish when you only speak French. I really wouldn't sugest that you go see this movie. To tell you the truth it was a waste of money, and an 1hr & 35 min of my time.

Okay, this movie should have never made it to the big screen however, it would have been great for tv. The story was kind of cheesy but it was a nice romantic type film for teens. Beastly is one of the worst films I've ever seen! At times the dialogue sounded like something written by a high school senior. The "beast" makeup was amateurish. Beastly could've been interesting but didn't live up to its potential in my opinion.

I felt they skimped on the movie, they shorted it, they had a great story line good cast but there were pieces missing. They love between the main characters wasn't strong enough and the ending felt like it was cut short instead of building, the intensity wasn't there. I found the movie very enjoyable, would probably watch it again. For a movie set so dark, however, they didn't go very deep with the characters or with developing the nuances of the romance. I expected an adult version of Beauty and the Beast, but instead got a movie that part of the time was really well done, other parts seemed like I was watching a made-for-tv Disney movie (not that I don't enjoy those, too!) Mary-Kate Olsen did a fantastic job in this... I'd actually love to see her in more roles like this one and would've liked it if she got a bit more screen time. Alex's acting was also very good. Vanessa... well, she might need to stick with Disney. She gave a little more in this role (probably good direction) but still was very similar to her other good-girl roles. All in all, a fun movie.

I thought this movie was very good.. I liked the beauty and the beast story line.. I would have liked to see the characters develop a little more.. They really dont elaborate on each of their backgrounds but you can understand their past. As expected, the movie left much to be desired. I read the book before viewing the movie and was expecting some disappointment but for the movie to have just ignore major points of the book's plot was upsetting. I believe if I had seen the movie before reading the book I may have enjoyed it more but because I did not I only found disappointment. For anyone who has read the book: don't pay money to see the movie (unless you're a die-hard Alex Pettyfer fan like I am! In that case, wait to rent it). .... if you are over 25/ under 40 it's a toss of a coin .... and if you are over 40 the chance of you really liking "Beastly" is pretty slim. This movie is targeting a teen to 30 female demographic (and I am not in that category). There are a few moments in Beastly that I liked - just not enough to recommend it to everyone. Pettyfer has a future as a mainstream big film actor .... but it would be hard to see that from this movie and performance. For teens and twenty-something females go and check this one out. Everyone else - save your movie bucks, rent later or skip entirely.

Bottom line this movie was pleasing and easy to watch. An academy award winner no but still an entertaining movie. The premise of inner beauty being more important than outer is a good moral for the target audience and it was not wasted onthe 2 teens I was with... so that alone makes it worth while.

When it comes to movies basing the storyboards of novels, I HAVE to read the novel before the movie and even though the movie was FAR from what the novel interpreted it would be, it didn't seem to matter because this movie kind of followed it's own path that had a parallel story to the novel. It was such a wonderful movie to watch. Even though the comic relief(Patrick Neal Harris) was a little over-done, he made the movie all the more entertaining.
Alex Pettyfer on the sidenote exemplifies my expectation of Kyle Kingsbury.
Lastly, even though the nanny was supposed to be Puerto Rican(and Kendra in the end of the novel), Will having a dog with him named Pilot, Kyle's second name not Hunter but Adrian King, and Lindy being a freckled red-head, this MOVIE was wonderful all throughout :)

My partner and I took her two children to see this movie. We were all pleasantly surprised at how much we liked this movie. It was funny, adorable and had a moral to the story. Neil Patrick Harris was hilarious!! The make up was a little scary but very endearing on the other hand. The story of love seemed to go away when the make up was removed at the end but until you see this movie you will understand why.
I thought the Olsen twin that was i the movie was very believable and she did a great job!
The love story was cute and delicate and moved at just the right pace. We would recommend this movie for any and all ages!

Beastly was definitely a modern day beauty and the beast storyline. It was very romantic and heartwarming, with touches of humor and sadness all rolled into one. Appropriate for "tween" and above. A must see if you are looking for happily ever after!
