This film's flight photography will have you gripping your seat. The story, of a substance abusing pilot who lands a crippled jet with little loss of life, was also good. However, Denzel Washington (as Whip) didn't even break a sweat when things got tense and that wasn't very believable. And you could see his love interest coming from a mile away. She also suddenly disappeared. And the interaction between son and estranged father was overdone. See this film for the flight scenes, Don Cheadle, John Goodman, and Melissa Leo.
Pros well paced, great story
Cons bad direction
Yes, I recommend this movie.

See This Film!

This film made me angry, at parents, school bus drivers, school officials, and peers who stand idly by while children are being hurt.
'Bully' also made me feel hopeful because its very existence shows that finally some awareness of the devastating effects of bullying is developing.
I can't imagine seeing this film and not feeling something. 'Bully' presents the pain caused by bullying plainly and without affectation. If you weren't aware of the effect of bullying before seeing the film, you certainly will be by the end. See it for yourself.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

My Wonderful 1:36 With Marilyn

Michelle Williams gives a delicate, nuanced performance as Marilyn Monroe in 'My Week with Marilyn'. She actually gives us more insight into Norma Jean than Marilyn. It would've been easy and tempting to go over the top and portray the Marilyn Monroe we think we know. Instead, Ms. Williams lets us in on how Marilyn may have thought and felt. Kenneth Branagh was also excellent as Olivier. Branagh looks nothing like Olivier, but channeled him perfectly.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This film made me laugh out loud! Jennifer Aniston usually just makes me shrug. But in "Horrible Bosses" she's bawdy, playing against her usual type, and a pleasure to watch. Kevin Spacey is good at playing asses (see Swimming With Sharks) and was wonderful as well. Jamie Foxx was priceless as M.F. Jones! I left the theater with a smile on my face!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The Divine Miss M is Amazing

Bette Midler gives a transformative performance in The Rose that is one of film's all-time best. She was robbed of an Oscar for this 1979 film but that takes nothing away from her excellent work. As a Janis Jophlin-like female singer Bette lives by the mantra "drugs, sex, and rock-and-roll" and makes you believe it. Whether you're a Bette Midler fan or not, this film is a must-see.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Awful!

Beastly is one of the worst films I've ever seen! At times the dialogue sounded like something written by a high school senior. The "beast" makeup was amateurish. Beastly could've been interesting but didn't live up to its potential in my opinion.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Single White Female Meets The Turning Point

This was an excellent thriller that kept me on the edge of my seat throughout. I couldn't tell fantasy from reality! If Natalie Portman isn't at least nominated for an Oscar it will be a great injustice. Barbara Hershey was also great as the mother. And Mila Kunis was wonderfully wicked. This is a must-see, especially if you're at all familiar with the dance world.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
