When I watch Precious, I thought about my students. She was determined to be everything her mother wasn't. She saw herself as successful, in love, and happy and that got her through her tough times. Mo'Nique was superior in her role and she deserve a Stellar Award for that performance. Paula Patton was excellent in her performance. I felt her pain, her distress and desperation. But I also felt her determination to become something better than what her environment said she would be. GREAT MOVIE AND I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT TO MY FRIENDS, FAMILY AND OUR MENTORING PROGRAM. I believe everyone should evaulate the way they handle our young ppl we don't know their situation or pain.

The performances were STELLAR? Mo'Nigue was fantasic!
The abuse was disturbing and took me by surprise. God knows I wish I could tell myself it was a work of fiction and forget what I saw. What I will take away from the story is that the kindness of strangers is a powerful force. I will never miss the opportunity to be kind. We never know another person's story.

I read the book, "Push" earlier this year and it was an extremely hard read because the raw emotion of it was overwhelming at times. I literally had to put the book down a few times because it was just too much to handle. I wasnt sure that they would be able to match that extreme emotion in the movie. I was wrong. I cried laughed. I am by nature sensitive to all that has to do with humanity. I am saddened on a daily basis by what is reported in the news, locally and abroad. This movie touches on the very fabric that we as people have been seriously lacking in. We learn how to Love from those that are our protectors. Traditionally by Parents who condition and prepare you for the world. When they (parents) turn out to be the one(s) that literally destroy your spirit, where does one turn to? I wonder how many Prescious people I may have encountered? Unaware of their circumstances, and possibly even stereo typing them just because they look and act in a way that I find unacceptable. For me this has been a wake up call.

This movie is one of the most effecting I have seen in years. One leaves the theater in its emotional grip. Mo'Nique's riveting, tour de force monologue in the final scene puts depth and context to a reprehensible character while underscoring the true emotional and physical horrors of Precious's life. I was riveted with a mixture of feelings...It was a depressing, provocative, gritty movie that is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit. Whereas this movies plot is intriguing, it's story line is somewhat slow. I think the movie needs more excitement other than cursing and yelling. The sad parts were very sad in theory but the movie did not make me feel it. That's it, I did not feel this movie. There were parts that made me chuckle but not laugh. There were parts that made me sad, but not cry. There were parts that made me think that's not right, but it did not anger me. I think being rapped by your father is probable as bad as it gets, But my heart did not go out to this character. Why? I'm not sure.

I have mixed reviews only because entire families may not be able to view the movie due to the language but, I think that it is something that happens everyday. As an adult film it is definitely a moving film about urban life for a typically poor dysfunctional single parent household. Too many times we as a society tend to ignore those human interest stories that are not emotionally compatable with our lives but this film takes a hard look at a number of issues that may not be as dear to our hearts. Mo' nique gives a phenomenal performance as well as all the supporting cast. This would be a good film to show wayward teens.

I loved Precious' tenacity and determination to make a better life for herself and her children despite the fact that she had NO good parental role models in her life. I don't really know what to say about this movie. The hype did not live up to the movie. I walked away trying to decipher the ending. The movie was all over the place with alot going on. Monique was convincing as a ghetto mother but still a bit over the top. The cursing was extreme. The abuse was disgusting, especially the treatment of the children. Honestly, this movie was very disturbing but I came away with the message. After seeing how this girl was mentally, physically & sexually abused by both parents and was still determined to moved forward, how can any of us make excuses on why we can't/won't push on. It was hard to watch, but this story is true for children all over the world. The cast did an awesome job. Monique's performance was Oscar worthy. I read the book b4 seeing the movie and the producers did an excellent job in staying true to the original piece. I would definately recommend this to a friend.

I saw this movie on Friday night and still can't stop thinking about the performances of the actors, especially monique and the young girl sadibe. I experience every emotion there is from laughter to crying to anger to fear to disapointment. This movie is very deep and hard to watch at times but I would recommend everyone to go see it except young children. The director did a fantastic job and I take my hat off to Oprah and Tyler for bringing this film to fruition on the big screen.

I believe this movie was great and disturbing at the same time. Most kids need to see this movie to discover just how good they have it, especially the ones who feel they are being wrong and so called having strict parents. some individuals need to research LOVE and abuse at the same time.

Touted as being "uplifting" by promos and the media, I found it anything but. The disgusting language alone was enough to make you want to bolt and was way overdone, not excused by characterization. It is dark and morbid. Precious does not come across as a highly sympathetic individual in spite of the inhuman treatment she suffered at the hands of her "parents". I left the film feeling angry and depressed and would not recommend it unless those feelings were one's objective.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

It is hard to imagine that one child could bear so much abuse. Very powerful, yet disturbing movie, definitely not for the light- hearted.
