This movie is one of the most effecting I have seen in years. One leaves the theater in its emotional grip. Mo'Nique's riveting, tour de force monologue in the final scene puts depth and context to a reprehensible character while underscoring the true emotional and physical horrors of Precious's life. This is not a movie for children and it will offend those who are protective of the image of the black family in today's media. Nonetheless it is an important and well made film.
