Finally a movie that could have been called "To Be Continued" and could have ended with a "To Be Continued" banner. I admit my interest lagged at a few (critical?) points -- I never would have left it early! Best version of Infinite Stairway I have ever seen!
I did not like the portrayal of fortresses as being made of clay-like, powdery stuff -- oh well -- someone else's dream afrer all. Not too much splatter during the kills. This movie makes killing white (clad) guys seem like real fun.
Do not dare miss this one if you claim to keep up with the art. Even if flick seems maybe about waiting to see some kids" photo -- or actually how NOT to kill a loved one.
Confusing, wandering, good! "One man's opinion".
Not many movies deal with this everyday topic. I wonder if I will DREAM about dreaming in dreaming in....
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I was a little leary about going to this movie since I am not a big fan of Leonardo. Usually just watching him act puts me off for some reason, but not this time. He blended well with the rest of the surprisingly well put together cast of famous actors.
The twists in this movie make you stop and think, is that really possible? Keeping an open mind and not questioning what is possible really helps going in.
A Great Movie to see in a Movie Theater.

This was a terrific movie. Had no idea what to excpect going into it, but turned out great. The actors were great and the storyline was brilliant. Can't wait to see it two or three more times just to pick up on things I may not have caught the first time around. And we were fortunate enough to see the movie in the D-Box seats...that made the action so much better. GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!!

Inception is a creative take on the crazy world of our subconscious. The adventure unfolds through a delicately woven plot that develops minute by minute. The movie keeps you on the edge of your seat for all of its 2 hours and 30 minutes and will keep you talking for hours after the film has reached its conclusion. This is one that is well worth the cost to see in theaters.

A complex, terrific, engrossing film. It carries the usual Nolan out-of-sequence signature, which deliberately challenges the audience, but delivers its story in a smart, concise and compelling manner. The acting is fresh and edgy. With so many movies in 3D these days this is one that should have been! It's in your face with special effects and visuals!
The writers do a great job taking a very complex plot line and turning it into a story that can be followed. At first it seems like its going to be one of those movies that jumps all over the place and you don't know if you're coming or going. But for a story that is a dream inside of a dream inside of a dream - it's not as complex as it could have been. Superb acting, typical DiCaprio (great) and some great performances by Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Ellen Page. My only 'tiny' complaint would be some of the symbols and scenes in the movie that seemed like they might play a role but then didn't - I feel as though a prequel might be an interesting idea to explain a few things that possibly landed on the editing room floor. With theaters full of cartoons, sequels, and TV remakes - this is easily one of the best movies of the year. Inception will leave you wondering what just happened and you'll be talking about this movie all the way home. A good sign of a great movie.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Now, to start off this review let me say that I walked into the theater having high hopes. I've been waiting for this film to come out for some time now and I had a feeling it was going to be great. Well I just so happened to be wrong. It wasn't great...it was BRILLIANT. Christopher Nolan must have gone mad while writing the script. I can only imagine the difficulties that must have taken place during the making of this film. Christopher Nolan delves into our subconscious with great ease and skill. Of course the all star cast makes it that much better. Everyone does a great job on portraying their characters including, of course, Leonardo Di Caprio and miss Ellen Page. I don't want to spoil anything about this story, even explaining the main concept I feel should be done by Mr. Nolan himself. He does a brilliant job at trying to explain to the audience the objective of the film and though it may be confusing to some, Nolan definitely tries his best at making the movie understandable. I am truly in aw of this film. It's beautiful in every way, shape and form. The way the film reminds us of our own dreams and the dream within a dream concept is also magnificent. I can remember times in which I am dreaming and then I wake up from that dream but it ends up being that I am actually still dreaming but not yet know I am dreaming until I wake up once more, but this time in the real world. This movie completely studies the complexities of not knowing when you are in reality, or just in a dream. The fear in which you do not know the real world from the subconscious world is what hits the core to this film and makes it one hell of a ride. Enough with the praise, I give this film a 5 out of 5 there is absolutely nothing like it.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

"Inception," a new film by director Christopher Nolan, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Ken Watanabe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard and Ellen Page, is something I highly recommend you see this summer on the big screen before it leaves the theatre.
The story centers around Dom Cobb, a skilled thief - the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction - stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state when the mind is at its most vulnerable. Cobb's rare ability makes him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved. Cobb is offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back, but only if he can accomplish the impossible -- inception.
Currently playing nationwide, the film puts you on an amazing epic adventure through the various layers of the human mind, picking up where many of its predecessors had left off. Combining the elements of its foundational forerunners such as Brainstorm, Dreamscape, Total Recall and What Dreams May Come, Inception plants itself right in the middle of virgin plot line territory that I heard one avid moviegoer refer to as "pre-Matrix."
While exploring the philosophical concepts of dreams, reality, manifestation and the idea of where one ends and another begins, Inception also advances itself with a driven, edge-of-your-seat, dynamic suspense that runs parallel to the likes of Mission Impossible, The Prisoner, Dark City and The Sixth Sense.
If you suffer from ADHD, this is going to be one of those films that you will want to see twice. Or maybe thrice. I do recommend that you pay attention as the story is very layered with the various depths of the mind's dream state representing the unfolding and self-discovery of its characters in the plot.
I will not ruin it for you by giving away the ending. All I will say is this... the final scene of Inception restates the weight of this entire operatic episode with a subtle but shocking kick in the teeth that will reverberate in your own mind long after you leave the theatre.
The major difference between this film and those that came before it is that you will be forced to question your own everyday, mundane perceptions of manifested and so-called physical reality for many days to come - guaranteed!
Inception is one hell of a ride - right to the very end!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

It has been so long since I hung on every word in a movie. Inception came along and broke the dry spell. A smart movie an exciting movie, a movie that has too good of acting and purposeful action to let gratuitous sex scenes or foul language muddy this pristine work of art. It is a movie to experience and you must or you will be left out of so many conversations. Make sure you go to the bathroom before the movie because your bladder is the only one who will notice the length of the movie. Enjoy! Popcorn's on me.

Not a movie I had planned on seeing but my buddy wanted to go see so we did and I'm glad that I did as I wouldn't have likely seen it otherwise. This is a brilliant movie that combines The Matrix, What Dreams May Come and a drop of Ocean's Eleven to make an engrossing movie that will leave you thinking it over and over again long after you've left the theater.
It's hard to give too much of a plot synopsis without spoiling but I'll try. In this movie Leo DiCaprio plays a secret agent of some kind who specializes in drugging people, "breaking in to their dreams" using some-kind-of device and then manipulating that dream to extract hidden information from inside the subject (who doesn't know they are in a dream unless something tips him off.) The movie spends a pretty good amount of time, much like The Matrix, explaining to the audience the "rules" within dreamland, time is exaggerated (i.e. much like real-world dreaming what is hours in the "real world" can really be days in the dream world, disturbing the "reality" of the dream too can tip the subject's subconscious off that something is messed up and doing something in the dream (like falling or killing yourself) will wake you up (again much like in the real world falling will jerk you awake.) It's all pretty complicated and interestingly laid out the only drawback being that the technology that allows this isn't too much explained.
This isn't a big deal as it's just a plot device to explore some of the deeper issues with Leo's character and something that occurred with him in the past that resulted in the death of his life after spending a "life time" in the dream world. (See, if you use the dream-world technology that's inside the dream world you compound the time difference. So now what passes as days in the secondary dream world are hours in the first dream world which is minutes in real world.) Leo's character is presented with an opportunity to clear his name in the US so he can return home to his kids if uses the dream-world technology to help out a powerful businessman, Leo then assembles a "team" of people whom he'll need to pull this off (like in the Oceans movies.) this includes an "architect" played by Ellen Page who is needed to "design" the look of the world and the mind-bending things that can happen there since physics doesn't exist (sort-of like in the Matrix.) Though there's technological limits they'll have to break to pull this off Leo goes through with it anyway to get the chance to return home.
The core story is sort-of flimsy, the technology ill defined or explained but the way it's pulled off is masterful and mind-bending. Leaving this movie I felt a lot like how I felt after watching The Matrix for the first time (the first one that is) with the manipulation of the "dream world."
Very good movie I highly recommend it.

This movie was pretty confusing at first, but as I let myself get away from my common logic, I find my jaw dropped and on the edge of my seat. Leonardo DiCaprio is a truly inspiring actor. This movie has so far been one of the best movies for the past 3 years
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Excellent story; great acting. But the movie had far too many "Hollywood gun fights" where the bad guys can't shoot the good guys from 20 feet away--even with automatic weapons.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Great movie with an excellent "existentialist" theme; similar to "Matrix" in that regard. Solid action flick.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Definitely an exciting film. Cool special effects, etc. Interesting ideas presented & explored.
However if you're a stickler for quality writing, theme, plot, etc... plot line was weak, characters were under-developed. Too many story lines to effectively connect with any of the characters.
With all the rave reviews I think I was expecting a higher level intelligent writing & it simply fell short. Personally, I think my own imagination is a lot better.
That being said, it was an entertaining film & not overly predictable. The 2+ hours flew by. I actually think this film could have been even more successful (& intelligent) as a trilogy or two-part film.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This film was very good. Images were great. However, I believe it was very much overhyped. The ending while thought provoking ending felt just too much like a cop out. I felt compelled to discuss the ending only up to a certain point because I wasn't drawn into the fictional reality as well I as I felt I should have been. Personally I would have liked to have the dream initiating machine explained even in the slightest instead of just simply showing us as the audience that each dreamer jumps into the dreams from the wires of a stainless steel suitcase.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I have read some of the one star reviews and realized that this movie requires a "letting go" to the layered process of dreams as well as the abstractness of dreams....i.e., anachronisms, reality and time morphing rapidly. I thought Christopher Nolan accomplished an amazing feat of moving the movie-goer into the layers (actions and plots within the layers) of actively created (shared) dreams. I was blown away at the end. I do understand that some people do not want to experience such complexity (of the imagination) but I eat this stuff up. I thought it was a blend of the "Matrix", "What Dreams May Come", "The 13th Floor", and action flicks (good ones).
Yes, I recommend this movie.
