Inception Picks Up Where Predecessors Leave Off

"Inception," a new film by director Christopher Nolan, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Ken Watanabe, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard and Ellen Page, is something I highly recommend you see this summer on the big screen before it leaves the theatre.
The story centers around Dom Cobb, a skilled thief - the absolute best in the dangerous art of extraction - stealing valuable secrets from deep within the subconscious during the dream state when the mind is at its most vulnerable. Cobb's rare ability makes him a coveted player in this treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive and cost him everything he has ever loved. Cobb is offered a chance at redemption. One last job could give him his life back, but only if he can accomplish the impossible -- inception.
Currently playing nationwide, the film puts you on an amazing epic adventure through the various layers of the human mind, picking up where many of its predecessors had left off. Combining the elements of its foundational forerunners such as Brainstorm, Dreamscape, Total Recall and What Dreams May Come, Inception plants itself right in the middle of virgin plot line territory that I heard one avid moviegoer refer to as "pre-Matrix."
While exploring the philosophical concepts of dreams, reality, manifestation and the idea of where one ends and another begins, Inception also advances itself with a driven, edge-of-your-seat, dynamic suspense that runs parallel to the likes of Mission Impossible, The Prisoner, Dark City and The Sixth Sense.
If you suffer from ADHD, this is going to be one of those films that you will want to see twice. Or maybe thrice. I do recommend that you pay attention as the story is very layered with the various depths of the mind's dream state representing the unfolding and self-discovery of its characters in the plot.
I will not ruin it for you by giving away the ending. All I will say is this... the final scene of Inception restates the weight of this entire operatic episode with a subtle but shocking kick in the teeth that will reverberate in your own mind long after you leave the theatre.
The major difference between this film and those that came before it is that you will be forced to question your own everyday, mundane perceptions of manifested and so-called physical reality for many days to come - guaranteed!
Inception is one hell of a ride - right to the very end!
