Took the whole family 3 thru 50-ish to the local IMAX 3D for this show. The special effects are amazing and the story lines engage adult to toddler. The 3 year old said "Can we watch that again?" after the movie. This is an epic movie where the Director figures out how to pull all the pieces together - 3D effects, story lines, drama, etc - to make for an amazing cinema experience. Highly recommended.

I took my whole family of 5 to see it, including my grandson.. They all really enjoyed it.. Our ages ranged from two about 56 to my three kids in their mid 20’s and then even one lone grandson at age 6.. It was a thoroughly enjoyable fun family movie.. I recommend it for both young and old.. But do take a kid so you won't look too silly.. The 3d along with the bonus of the Imax screen made it the very best 3D movie I’ve seen yet.. And I’ve been to many.. It really almost brought you right into the movie.. The flight scenes are very good.. The script was excellently written.. Very unpredictable unlike the last biggie “Avatar..” It had some really good humor as well.. I chuckled and even smiled several times during the movie.. If you have young kids it's definite a must see.. My grandson at 6 was on the very edge of his seat during the whole movie.. I just had to watch him.. It was totally cute.. And one extra nice bonus, you'll leave the theater feeling really good and even slightly uplifted.. It was very expensive to take a family of six to this movie.. However the money was very well spent and I’m still very glad I did..

The movie's lead character Hiccup is easy to relate to, and his relationship formed with his Dragon Toothless is heartwarming. The story boils down to following your heart, making choices and sticking with them, no matter the outcome. I found the overall movie enjoyable with enough action to make the experience one to relish for weeks to come. The IMAX 3D effects were icing on an already sumptuous cake.

I went with my wife and daughter. We saw it in IMAX but I can tell you that we are going to back to see it in 2D that's how much we loved it. This movie was so much fun to watch. It was funny and touching all wrapped into an animated movie. I haven't seen an animated movie this good in a long long time. There was so many morals to this story I could go on and on but I don't want to spoil it for anyone. Just go to see it and take the whole family even grandma.

What an adventure! The movie starts off with a bang; possibly too intense for very little ones, like 5 and under. The story is so charming, the characters so likable, the dragons...so fun.
I took my 9 and 14 year old girls to see this movie in IMAX 3D, and we all want to see it again. There is no part of the movie that is slow or boring. The story holds together so well.

Though Pricey to see a movie, my wife, my son, and I enjoyed this movie from start to finish in the IMAX 3D format. This is one of the best if not the best Dreamworks films for the imagery, character developments, and the fight scene at the end took our breathe away literally. I also appreciate how the realism of the main character at the end being altered was taken care of. In a regular movie, nothing may have happen as the climax of the movie had already taken place and the audience is left to catch their breathe. Instead, knowing the character has just fallen and wouldn't just get up again, we were surprised to see how they handled it. I also appreciated how the experienced changed the characters in the entire movie from top to bottom. It shows it is never to late to change attitudes and stereotypes as well, but overall it was a great movie and we all enjoyed it!!!! Can't wait for the Blue-Ray!

Despite having to pay $18.50 for the IMAX 3D showing, I was very much pleased with Dreamworks' use of the whole 3D concept. They used it the way I had hoped many of the movies that have come out in 3D would have used it.... including Avatar. Now, live action's purpose is to make you feel like you're there. Animation's purpose is for you to see things pop out at you. This hit the ball out of the park with that idea, and the characters were fun and the story was lively. Kids and adults alike should appreciate this film.

A fun movie, the main Dragon in particular was wonderful, (it didn't hurt that it looked and acted a lot like our cat!) and the charterers were very likable in this film. Nice plot development, yet moved at a fast pace. Making the Dragons feline like was a nice touch. The animation was top notch as well, the attention to detail was fantastic. If you can, I suggest seeing it in IMAX 3D, for full effect.

Didn't think anything else could ocme closer than Wall.E. Now Pixar and Dreamworks have both shown me their top stuff.
Took the fiancee to see this. She's a dragon lover so her vote was in. I went in thinking this was going to be the some old PETA "don't kill the animals" storyline. It wasn't. You have to see it to really understand. I have to disagree with another reviewer. I don't think this was a "teenagers are wiser than us" movie. If anything it taught that one little lie can make your whole world literally be pulled out from under you. It further emphasized the butting of heads between parents and teens. All that aside, it's a kids move and we really shouldn't read too much into it. Toothless, the black dragon was a wonderful re-creation but is somewhat different from the book. We took 3 teenage boyz to see this and we (the adults) were just as impressed with the story line and awesome graphics! This is a MUST see family movie!

I'm so glad we went to the Imax 3D version! The story could have been a little deeper but, hey, it was written for kids and had all the warm fuzzies necessary. The humor definately appeals to all ages and actually has flashes of near "Disney-ish" brilliance. Top it off with the Imax 3D graphics and I can almost say it was worth the double-cost price of a regular movie. BUT, I will also say that due to the cost, the Imax 3D is a once-in-a-blue-moon treat reserved for very special occasions.

My husband and 4-yr old daughter LOVED this movie! Great effects, story-line, imagery...can't think of one bad thing!!! We (adults) laughed, cried, cheered and had a great time watching a "kid" movie.
We've watched 3D movies in the past and have been disappointed, but the money was finally well-spent today!

My kids are 8 and 10, saw it last night, and while I grumble about the cost of 3-D tix...this is one film I would pay to see 2x in 3-D. Beautiful cinematography and animation. It might be a little frightening to children under 5 if they scare easy. But most of the dragons have a certain goofiness to their figures even if they have big teeth. It made me laugh. "Toothless" the black dragon is very cute. Good storyline, loyalty, trust, seeking to understand others, and overcoming bias. It's just a feel good movie. I enjoyed it more than Avatar, which I thought was over-hyped and had a very predictable storyline.
