WOW! This movie completely transports you into another realm of being. Pandora may be the most beautiful place ever captured on screen. There is a moment in the film that mirrors the sinking of the Titanic, yet it somehow trumps the emotion of Titanic tenfold. The story is fascinating and relevant, with Giovanni Ribisi playing the George W. Bush role. Echoes of the drone war in Pakistan and the hunt for oil in Iraq reverberate through the film... this film will leave you thinking. I can't wait to hear what they have to say about the ending on Fox News.

This is the greatest movie of all time! The blending of 3D, the "real" and incredible animation creates a believable first person omniscient effect. "I was flying". Innocense, discovery, fantasy, mystery, true love, danger, the "truth", loss, action, hate, lust for power, belief, and the fight freedom. "Now that's what I'm talking about!"

I saw the movie in IMAX 3D and it was just fantastic. The special effects are wonderful and I was surprised how great the 3D was. No more of those paper 3d glasses, you get ones that look like sunglasses. Make sure you sit in the middle or back of the theatre so you can view it all! Enjoy.

The Good
-Incredible visuals
-Groundbreaking in IMAX
-Believable future story
The Bad
-Contrived story (see any romance/adversity story for help)
-When I left the theatre my first thought was "If this had not been in IMAX 3D, I would have liked it very much at all."
-Contrite lines pointing toward all the globull warming save the planet BS and at American Imperialism. They were obviously afterthoughts and completely did not work in context.
-I could not see where the crazy amount of money this supposedly took to make was spent. Star Wars series and all the Toy Story movies could almost fit in this budget - and what you get does not reflect that.
If not for the visuals, I would give this movie 2 Stars as an actual movie.

The world that Cameron created, and the SFX that supported that world were awesome. That said, all of the marvelous world is part of what is defined as setting, and what defines science fiction is the setting. So from that standpoint, Cameron did what is supposed to do. But SFX do not a movie make, and a tale of the former warrior meets the noble savage and defends them against former comrades is an old one and somewhat tiresome.

Pretty sweet to see the new visual effects that are a step forward from any other movie that I have seen to date. Creative and I would definitely recommend someone to see it in theater in 3D. This type of movie is what will keep people going to theaters because it is an experience you can't get at home.

Cannot believe that in 10 years, JC couldn't write a good story line to support the magnificent visual effects. I yawned half way through the movie and it never caught my interest again.

James Cameron has done it again. Not only in reinventing the way artificial environments can be filmed, but also in telling a story parallels contemporary issues. The movie grabbed my attention from beginning to end. But surprisingly, my girlfriend liked it as well. The plot can be a little generic (a combination of Dune, Battle for Terra, the Lion King, and the New World), but who care. It's just the movie you need to get through the wintry blues.

What can I say? My 25 year old son and I watched this and we were speechless when we left. This is a phenomnal picture. It encompasses many themes and stories but it tells us a truth and that is, Greed breeds evil and love triumphs over everything. The effects were out of this world and all I can say is please give us more Jmaes Cameron.

Best movie I've seen in over 10 years. If are thinking of maybe seeing this movie... Do! if you watch it, see it in 3D if you can, but even over that this movie was my first IMAX 3D experiance... I'd suggest to watch it in IMAX, but since I haven't seen it out of IMAX I have nothing to compare it to. It may be the same old story line like Dances with Wolves... but the way its told, and the details put into every little thing makes this movie amazing. I've never seen anything like it... and yes I to dodged objects as they came at me. I felt like reaching out and touching the plant life. A must see

this movie is worth every penny. 2 hrs and 40 mins was absorbing and mind blowing. the characters have been beautifully sketched. the ending was the best part. i would definitely own this movie and is going into my hall of fame collections.

My first I-MAX and 3D experience and this movie left my wanting more.I felt like I was apart of it. The graphics was very cool, I truly felt the emotions of the characters. This I feel have moved movies in a new direction and to a higher plane. I would see it again and will be telling others to do the same.

I am one of the most brutal critics in the world, and I'm not exaggerating when I say, "This is by far one of the greatest epic movies of all mo fo'in time." This is one of the few movies in my life that truly made me feel like I was taken to another world. You have to see it in IMAX 3D. Don't miss out on the full experience. I haven't gone back to see a movie more than once at a theater since Gremlins back in the 80's, which I saw 5 times (I was kid, cut me some slack). I may see this one at at least several times before I've had my fill. Sigourney Weaver is still a superb actress after all these years, and Sam Worthington is great eye candy, even with those fake bony chicken legs. GO SEE IT NOW!!

The movie's CGI was so incredible I don't know what was real and what was CGI. Every portion of the movie made my jaw drop. I couldn't help but be in awe with the blue people (N'avi) and their mix of cat/human characteristics. The planet itself was incredible and made me stare. I will see the movie again in 3D. I don't know if i can buy this movie without seeing it in 3D. I didn't want it to end, even knowing its length. I liked its message as well.

Avatar is far and away the most spectacular movie I have ever seen. It sets a new standard for movie making. The performance capture effects are an order of magnitude better than anything that has ever been done before. The 3D effect is so seamless that you forget it’s in 3D after just a few minutes into the film.
But it’s not just an effects movie. It has a beautiful story that fits in perfectly with the visuals. How man has squandered his own planet and is now going to other worlds to get the resources to save themselves. All of this mixed in with a beautiful love story. Needless to say I loved this movie, and it is now my favorite movie of all time.

If you are a sci-fi lover then this is the must see movie of the year. The weightless scene at the first of the movie told me this was going to be a great ride. The attention to detail is unreal. The technology is to the point that movies are now limited to only the imagination. But come on are they really going to fly helicopters by stick controls in 2154? I doubt it.

Avatar represents the graduation of 3D from a mere gimmick and into a solid tool for the director. James Cameron has demonstrated how the effect can be a tool, like the soundtrack, to get the viewer even farther into the movie. See this one on the big screen; home equipment just won't do it justice.

I thought the movie was great, awsome special effects. The digital surround sound and the clear crisp picture at AMC Theater was fantastic. Except for the 3d glasses they kept falling of my face, or cutting of my breathing through my nose. Other then that, the story line was admerable and I really enjoyed the total entertainment experience. I would definently rate this movie an A+.

This movie is a must see for everyone 13 and over!!! I have never seen an Imax 3D movie before,and this won't be my last.My son and I enjoyed the entire movie,even though it was over 2hours long,it went fast.Full of action,adventure and suspense that kept you in the movie.No leaving to the restroom,or you will miss something!And don't forget,the special effects where outstanding and the 3D was a rewarding experience for the industry.Great job!!

Excellent movie... This movie had my attention from beginning to end. I know it's a 2 hour and 40 minute movie but it went really quick.
The graphics and animitations mixed with the 3D IMAX experience definately made this movie 100 times better than it would have been without it. I actually swatted infront of my face two times thinking there was a bug flying around my glasses... Definately recommend this one.
