A remake of this classic movie could have had so much potential. Unfortunately, it was wasted on this. Sam Worthington is good eye candy in any movie, but he totally looked out of place. I kept half expecting him to throw on a flak jacket and pull out a machine gun or something. Everyone else was dressed the part for the time period, but he looked like he took a time machine back from the millenium. I expected them to change some of the story too, but they would have done much better to stick more to the original. There were so many things that just didn't even connect. Like the pegasus just swooping down and saying, "hey, why don't you jump on my back and ride me." The way Perseus had to capture and tame Pegasus in the original was so much better. Then there's the golden owl. Sam finds the golden owl in a box, but then throws it back in and you never see it again for the rest of the movie. Why even show it to begin with? In summary, lots of potential, yet sadly squandered. Ditto on the 3d lacking too. Hades was the coolest thing in this movie.
I am one of the most brutal critics in the world, and I'm not exaggerating when I say, "This is by far one of the greatest epic movies of all mo fo'in time." This is one of the few movies in my life that truly made me feel like I was taken to another world. You have to see it in IMAX 3D. Don't miss out on the full experience. I haven't gone back to see a movie more than once at a theater since Gremlins back in the 80's, which I saw 5 times (I was kid, cut me some slack). I may see this one at at least several times before I've had my fill. Sigourney Weaver is still a superb actress after all these years, and Sam Worthington is great eye candy, even with those fake bony chicken legs. GO SEE IT NOW!!
