This was a movie that operated on three levels. First it was visually a feast for the eyes as you enter the wonderful alien landscape of Pandora and its intriguing inhabitants, flora and fauna. Second, it delivered the timely message that when corporate and military force lack a moral imperative and are not used for the betterment of mankind (and yes that includes Aliens) , it flounders and ultimately is defeated. Third, it addressed mans connection to the environment. It was a treat to see Sigourney Weaver have a significant part in this movie. James Cameron has produced a timely film!

WAY up there on the great scale.
The movie was 2:40 minutes and I didn't leave my seat the entire time! Action was great, it was truly believable fantasy with wonderful effects and great 3D. It's really a "Don't Miss" movie.

I loved this movie. Saw a feature film in IMAX but in a dome and hated it...maybe i was in a bad seat, who knows. Anyway, this was awesome! I would have loved it even if not in IMAX 3D, but that made it that much better. It is a very visual movie, and the sound is great. Should I rate the story of Avatar? Maybe not. I would have watched it even if it didnt have dialoge. I will watch this movie again, and Ive all ready recommended it to plenty of people.
On a seperate note: Im very happy I bought my ticket online, the lines were crazy!

I saw avatar at an imax theatre with the 3-d glasses. I was nervous at first that the glasses would bother me and maybe i would get motion sickness during the movie. Especially in a sold out theatre. I had no problems with that though. The 3-d experience definetly enhances the movie. I would recommend this movie to others as long as it was in imax. The story line was good and although it was a terribly long movie it didn't drag on and on.

It was long, it was sad, it was violent, great to see in IMAX 3-D, probably the only way to see this movie. Beautiful scenery and effects, very well done, good story-line, great movie but not an incredible movie, did I mention it was long....

Avatar was an amazing experience. It was well worth the $280-310 million it cost to make this movie. The graphics are truly breathtaking. I saw the movie in Imax 3D, which wasn't very impressive. Don't get me wrong the 3D was still very good. I thought the 3D in "The Final Destination", was better. James Cameron did a remarkable job. The female aliens were hot!

This is truly an experience. You really have to pinch yourself now and then to realize what you are seeing is all fantasy. I'm waiting for the ET interview with the Na'avi to tell their side of the story and how they adapted to acting with humans! I'm sure it will look dated in 5 years, but this has set a new standard for big budget flicks. Amazing.

Cameron has almost got the CGI to replicate real life
An epic story that takes you to another reality...as good as Jackson's Lord of the Rings.
Where the plot lacks depth, the special effects and world of Pandora is breath-taking!
My hat's off to his creative CGI imagineer's for creating a wonderful world...with a story that reminds me of FernGully: The Last Rainforest meets Celestine Prophecy!
A must see in IMAX 3d !

I bought tickets online. I arrived at the IMAX an hour prior to showtime, stood in line to pick those tickets up, and then went to stand in line to wait for the movie. On entering the theater I discovered that I'd have to sit in the first 5 rows looking almost straight up. When I purchased my tickets online there was no mention of reserved seats or which seats might be available. The theater was very good about refunding my money for the tickets after waiting in another line for about 15 minutes, but I've seen my last movie at the Palladium IMAX. I didn't see the movie.

So, if you've seen Dances with Wolves, you've seen this movie (and Kevin did a better job telling the story). That said...
This is the most spectacular-looking movie I've ever seen. Saw the 3D IMAX version and it is amazing. 3D has been perfected. It wasn't used like color was in Technicolor (oh, look! That's REALLY purple!) but like color in modern movies. It's just there and makes the experience better. Although the scenes where they were running around on tree trunks with the valley thousands of feet below were so vertigo-inducing that I had to close my eyes at times.
See this movie in 3D. It really demonstrates how movies will look from now on. A good future...

This is without a doubt the most awsome movie experience I have ever encountered. The story is beautiful and the visual is beyond unbelievable. Although the movie is over 2 1/2 hours long you are never impatient for it to end and I am a smoker. I went with my fiance and 12 year old stepdaughter and we all left the theatre wowed. This movie visually stunning, paired with a script that drags it down a LITTLE. Will win multiple Oscars, but not for the script. Typical "indigenous people vs. modern man", environmentalist/Gaia fluff, "two people from different worlds" love story. Visually beyond anything ever on screen. Would have benefited from a firmer editing hand, but with Cameron in control of every frame, no way. The movie-watching experience is hard to describe…Disney meets Star Wars meets Transformers. The "bad guy jarhead" theme wears thin, but that's in most action movies. The holier-than-though nature worship was over-the-top, but that will make Al Gore happy. Don't miss it in IMAX 3D!

Ok so this is ha HUGE budget movie, and it shows. It has Amazing visuals and the long duration flew by. BUT, Seriously, Papyrus for the subtitles. Each time the subtitles came up I died a little but inside. With such a huge budget could they have not made a custom typeface for the movie? I honestly think that I would have preferred no subtitles and just not knowing what was being said over having papyrus show up. Other than that its a seriously EPIC movie with a great story.

When Avatar was finished and I thought about what I had just seen I felt like I had undergone an experience rather than watched a film. This movie is a perfect compilation of components that work perfectly together. Every piece of this film, the story, acting and especially the amazing visual effects all work together so well creating an incredibly solid movie. This movie was perfect. James Cameron has made a movie I've always wanted to see, a movie that raises the bar and has changed the way I feel movies should look. This is the way movies should look. Simply amazing.

This was the 1st 3D IMAX movie ive seen, and it did NOT let me down. I had really high expectations for this movie, because i've known about it for a long time, and had heard about how crazy the visuals were going to be. I was amazed at how real everything looked. James Cameron + IMAX 3D is a deadly combination. Definitely worth the time and money spent at the theater. Props!

In Los Angeles, the true Imax theaters are in Universal City and at The Bridge near LAX. The Museum of Science and Industry has a true Imax theater as well, but it doesn't show feature films. All others are not real Imax, such as the Imax Experience in Century City. They are a smaller screen, different aspect ratio, and lower resolution than true Imax. This film truly breaks new ground in cinema, and is worth multiple viewings for those interested in the future of the medium. That said, the story was derivative and less sophisticated than I would have liked. At 2 hours 40 minutes it could have been shortened without losing impact.

This movie was everything you want in a movie. The nearly 3 hours went incredibly fast.k I was engaged the entire time.
I don't agree completely with the "agenda" that James Cameron was unabashedly pushing, but it did open my mind up to give me a different perspective on things. By the end of the movie, I was rooting against humans, mining and the military.
But nonetheless, the movie was absolutely incredible. The world he created was like a dream. Definitely see it in 3d, and preferrebly at the Imax.

I went into this movie not knowing what it was about, nonetheless it was nothing less than amazing and fascinating. It is also a very political movie that reflects what is happening in today's world, but Cameron does it so beautifully that no matter who you are, you will love and appreciate all the time effort and skill that went into this film.

Must see it in 3-d. I saw it in true IMAX and it made the experience amazing. This is a movie in its own category. Part science fiction, part action-war movie, part Western, part Jurassic Park, part New Age spiritual fairy tale. Some may tire of the story, but not me. I was riveted for the entire time.
