In Los Angeles, the true Imax theaters are in Universal City and at The Bridge near LAX. The Museum of Science and Industry has a true Imax theater as well, but it doesn't show feature films. All others are not real Imax, such as the Imax Experience in Century City. They are a smaller screen, different aspect ratio, and lower resolution than true Imax. This film truly breaks new ground in cinema, and is worth multiple viewings for those interested in the future of the medium. That said, the story was derivative and less sophisticated than I would have liked. At 2 hours 40 minutes it could have been shortened without losing impact.
Pixar raises the bar yet again with this amazing, wonderful Sci Fi film for all ages (although kids under 5 might have trouble, especially if their attention spans have been numbed by too much video;). It has a solid story, told by following the main Chaplinesque character, Wall-E. All the components of a heartfelt Pixar film are here with abundance. Plenty of humor and action as well. The fable's message is clear- this is a possible future if we don't take care of our precious earth and ourselves. Note: If you and your kids want to be mindlessly occupied for 97 minutes, go see Space Chimps or Fly Me to the Moon.
