Judd Apatow is always great at scripting real life conversations and reactions to situations, the problem is, I expected to laugh a lot like I always do when I watch one of his movies, unfortunately the film is very realistic in depicting a lost, down & out rock star due to failed album sales and drug and alcohol abuse so although there are some good laughs, plenty of the film was serious and depressing, so instead of leaving the film with a smile on my face, even though there was a happy ending, i felt drained and depressed, and disappointed.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

I had seen A LOT of previews for this film so although I was excited to see it, I was worried I had seen all the best parts. I walked in w/ very high expectations and slight trepidation I would be disappointed. All I can say was WOW! My 14 year old God-son and I walked out of there saying the same thing, "That was frickin' awesome!!!!" Chloe steals the movie and you wish the whole movie was about her but everyone holds their own. It is very violent and some of the violence was unexpected, one scene where "Kick-Ass" gets "hurt" made us jump out of our seat, I just can't say enough about Chloe though, a star is born and what a way for her to show her kids what she was doing at 11, we should all be so lucky. By the way my God-son doesn't swear and after this movie, he still doesn't. For all you parents out there worrying about how they portray an 11 year old girl and what it will do to "our youth", take some responsibilty for how you bring up your kid. Kids will be kids and I wasn't thrilled to hear when he was 13 he saw "Super Bad" with all the swearing and sexual content, (his friend's parents got them the DVD not knowing what was really in that "R" rated movie!" Great, right? Nothing I can do about irresponsible parenting, but bringing up my God-son to respect authority has lead him to be a straight A honors student and star athlete. Yes I was very strict w/ him, WHEN HE WAS 2!!! It's been smooth sailing ever since. Parents need to get a clue, you can still be your kids best friend as long as he respects you, no respect for you or authority and here comes the problem child. I had no problem bringing him to this movie, after all, it's only a movie. Not a way of life!
It was long, it was sad, it was violent, great to see in IMAX 3-D, probably the only way to see this movie. Beautiful scenery and effects, very well done, good story-line, great movie but not an incredible movie, did I mention it was long....
I thought this movie looked like an MTV video featuring Megan Fox. From her first scene straddling a motorcycle w/ her butt in the air wearing short shorts to her running in slow motion, b**bs bouncing all the way, I could almost hear Director Michael Bay shouting: "yeah be sexy, open your mouth, yeah thats it...."! The thrill is gone because there are no more surprises, sometimes Optimus Prime looks like he is 2 stories tall, on the plane, laying in the sand and then other times, like on the ship at the end, he's 10 stories high!! There were a lot of slow moments too, which made the movie (over 2 hours) feel a bit long. I think GI Joe is going to blow this movie out of the water and I doubt many people will see this movie twice.
