The best computer animated graphics I have ever seen in a movie. A little hard to believe for people that know anything about science, but the positive message of Avatar is something everybody should take to heart. I recommend the movie for all ages.

My new favorite movie. It has beautiful lessons of community and integrity and teaches in an exciting way about the miracle of the natural world. Granted Pandora and Earth are quite different but the importance of balance and seeing the sacredness inside and around us is the same. Great action scenes too and well developed characters. A must see, it's totally worth it to pay theater prices to see it on the big screen.

The story told in this movie is OK, not great. The movie itself, however, is the most entertaining movie I have ever seen. See it in 3D/IMAX. It's almost 3 hours long and I wanted it to go on and on. Hated to leave Pandora.

The movie was really good. The first 45 minutes or so were such an experience, going into the mind of James Cameron and the world that he has created. Lots of eye candy. I just couldn't enjoy the 3D experience though. I came home with a really bad headache and was nauseated. I am not going to a 3D movie again but I do want to watch this on a regular theater soon. Thanks for such a great movie JC.

This was my first 3D IMAX movie and must say... WOW!!! I almost want to see every other movie in 3D from now on, and I have never seen a screen so big in my life. Other than that the story was amazing, the graphics were absolutely insane, and lets not forget the action. Must see in theatres and in IMAX if you get the chance.

For the first time CGI characters took on the depth and sensitivity of live actors. Through most of the film we forgot the characters were not real. While the sweep and grandeur of the portrayal of the alien world were about the best eye candy I've seen, the part I liked best were the close ups of the aliens' faces.Like the "Jazz Singer," the first major full length film with sound, Avatar is a total game changer. It will be known as the first film where CGI came alive and 3D became more than an novelty. SEE THIS IN IMAX 3D if at all possible.
The predictable plot and weak script shouldn't stop you from seeing this hugely entertaining film.

Saw this in IMAX 3D. So REAL!!! I felt like I was on Pandora. This is the way to see it. I loved the new 3D glasses... not that cheap red/green stuff we've seen over the years. These actually worked. While the writing was, at times, a little cliche-ish, the overall impact was one of the best and most powerful movies I have ever seen... Go see it in IMAX 3D. You will have a fantastic experience. Cameron's attention to detail was AMAZING. Not to be missed.

I drove an hour and a half to go watch this at my nearest IMAX theater. Let me tell you it was worth the trip.
Avatar is best experienced in IMAX 3D with the level of detail and quality that is unmatched by regular theaters. And the Real D 3D does not give you a severe headache like previous 3D glasses. Instead of making the images seem to reach out and grab at you, Real D gives them depth. Amazing.
I cannot believe the imagination these artists have put into this movie. It's incredible, unlike almost anything seen on Earth. I can see now why James Cameron has always wanted to make a movie like this. And I am thankful he waited for the technology to catch up. It was probably one of the best movies I have ever seen.

No fan of loud action movies, I was transfixed by this one. It was well crafted, the plot was multi-faceted, the basic message was much appreciated.
The movie stands up to good company, others made by Cameron, to be sure, but also those made by innovative studios, Pixar, Lucas and others that forged the way.

James Cameron put so much detail into this movie that seeing it in anything but IMAX 3D would be a travesty. I haven't wanted to go back and see a movie in theaters again, like I do this one, since I was a little kid. I can't help daydreaming about Pandora since I saw the movie. Never have I felt so content leaving a theater with my imagination so stimulated.

Now I know why the extra monies were spent making this movie, it is in my book the best movie of all time. I have seen all of the (lists) top 100 and 150 movies of all time and this tops them all. Titanic might have been top of the world but, Avatar is the best outside of it!

The visual effects in this film were brilliant, and the 3D IMAX experience was just incredible. If you liked the movie the first time, then spend the extra couple of bucks to see it in 3D IMAX -- you will not be disappointed. If you haven't seen the movie yet, then why not??? A unique experience and awesome special effects yet falls a bit short on deep character development; 2/3 of the way through the movie, you figure out the ending but never boring!. Started out fast, established the plot & moved quickly to the action and intrigue. Of course, it had the usual PG-13 Hollywood fare - action, mild cursing, sensuality (one scene) and of couse some maiming and mayhem. Best seen in IMAX 3-D. CGI animation and live action was flawlessly blended together - a cinematic classic with Star Wars appeal. Worth seeing a second time for the details I missed. Go see it!!

Avatar doesn't use the 3D ability as a gimic, with some scenes where hands extend out towards the audience. It's a full-emersion experience. You feel as if you are standing there, on the planet Pandora, watching.
And I caught myself swatting at bugs that seemed close to my face, or worried that burning embers would land on my clothes.
As for the motion sickness, there were times that I had to look away--when the action and the motion were too much to take. And I also have to admit that I was feeling a little sick as we left the theater.
I fully recommend this movie--it's a ride, a journey, that is worth the motion sickness--because it's a wonderful experience.

I was already excited about this movie prior to attending the showing. I am a Star Trek Fan so this was right up my ally. The special effects were spectacular. The 3 hours flew by because you were got up in the story line..action, romance, you get intrigued by new learning, oh did I happen to mention action. The movie was a visual delight in every way -- IMAX 3D was a blow away for me....I am going again tonight and taking my 33 old son...I am already syched
ENJOY it for what it was meant to be --- a New RIDE....I can already see the sequel...
PG13 - Scary for little ones, Battle scenes like the Star war movies...very few cuss word
It will cash in at the Oscars Awards for sure!!!

Absolutely amazing visuals. It is soooo saturated with color - reminded me of watching 4th of July fireworks. The details in the 3D effects are stunning.
