This movie is visually stunning and imaginative. It was hard at times to decide which part of the screen to focus on. I really enjoyed the story line, the graphics, the whole sense and feel of the event. My husband and mother enjoyed it fully as well.

The use of profanity in this movie adds nothing to the content or characters. As a matter of fact the profane character doesn't stay true through the transformation. Profanity here is simply a tool to get the PG rating used to entice and tantalize the teenage demographic... and yes, they feel oh so grown-up when they hear that language! Special effects were ok except for making some of my party sick.

Incredibly imaginative, beatiful colors, good plot, balance dosage of both action and romance in a sci-fi space travel to a different planet environment.
One of the best movies I've seen in last 10 years, delivering more than expected.

Look the movie storyline was as middle of the road as they get. It was as predictable as the outcome of Viking football playoff games. The visuals were however spectacular. Seeing Avatar in 3D IMAX was the way to go. Only then could you feel the event James Cameron was trying to create. Create they did with a whole new world for us to investigate. I foresee a series of Avatar movies, a new toy line and futuristic as things were we do not get much explanation where the characters are or how we got there. When will the dictionary be out and Rosetta stone to teach us all the new language?

This movie shows better on IMAX than just on 3D. The 3D one makes me feel more dizzy and the goggles that you use for IMAX feels more comfortable if you already wear glasses to see than the glasses the theater offers for the 3D. The greeneries in the movie are so beautiful, one only wishes that Mother Nature also offers us a glimpse of that in reality. It should be shown on Nat'l. Geographics / Discovery as something relating to Nature or Earth Day.

The storyline isn't new, but the twists and turns gives this story a fresh, complex look from a different perspective: A virgin, sacred world connected to harmony and balance with nature. The message is wonderful, the startling effects were breathtakingly beautiful even if they were CG created. This is a visionary story and it was fabulous.

Saw it in IMAX 3D.
Good story, great visuals, but tended to drag on at times.
I have to believe that my score would have been lower if I hadn't seen it in 3D and/or IMAX. Seeing it in 3D gives it a real Star Tours feel.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. The special effects were awesome and made so much
more vivid by the use of 3-D. Wonderful viewing experience! The uniqueness of the story line worked very well and the imaginative characters that lived on Avatar were hugely entertaining as were the various animals that lived in the forest. Looking forward to any sequel that might be in the works! Great movie; Oscar material for the creativity of the special effects.

Very smartly done, not too heavy handed with the whole earth mother stuff. Great entertainment. I read and watch a lot of sci-fi so there wasn't much new to me here but it was put together nicely. It is my first 3d imax movie and I was impressed. I'm ready to see another one.

I loved the movie. I watche in an IMAX 3D theatre in Elmwood Palace in New Orleans. The special effects were great. The sound was great. The story was great. My children also enjoyed it.

Really good music and graphics. Predictible story. There is definitely an agenda being put forth in this movie, green/mother earth religion, anti-war philosophy. I didn't think 3D did that much for the movie.

I loved the movie, but you can hardly call the Buckland Hills theaters in Manchester Ct an IMAX experience. The screen was very small, about 1/3 the size of any IMAX I've been to. I would not recommend it .

Great film, especially for the special effects, and imaginative world created on Pandora; the plot was fairly standard and somewhat predictable, but didn't detract from the whole experience. The 3D aspects may be hyped up a bit much. I saw it in IMAX 3D and didn't think there was anything that stood out too much differently than the 2D version might have. It really doesn't need to be taken as a political movie, aside from 2 isolated comments made by certain characters. It is plain in the movie what is right and wrong, but from those 2 isolated comments, I kind of get the feeling that Cameron might actually intend the movie to be a metaphor for the US military activity in the Middle East, and that just doesn't work.

This is the only movie I have ever PAID to see in a theater 3 times.
The story line is several layers deep and becomes more evident to those who are familiar with many cultures. Same story but with 3D consciousness as well as effects. Americans and All global powers need to fully understand the many stories this movie tells between the main story line.

Although special affects and sound were awsome, the movie reminded me of an adult version of "Fern Gulley". The funniest thought I had was that Sigourney Weaver was too expensive for the anticipated sequal and killed her off. All in all I enjoyed the movie and will see it again when it comes out on premium cable networks.

Avatar is going to be one of those films that sets a standard and ranks up there with the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. I was told not to expect much of a storyline but was pleasantly surprised with the total product. I would definitely see Avatar again, and in IMAX & 3D. This film will win awards this year.

This movie has stunning visuals that are enhanced greatly with 3D and IMax. If you have not seen it, see it first this way to get blown away.
Bring a clean cloth to keep the 3D goggles clean, and whatever you do use one hand for popcorn and the other to adjust the goggles.
Mine got smudged about 20 minutes into the movie and I could not get them totally cleaned.

Delicious visual buffet. Yeah, the plot was simple and it was a long movie. But it didn't matter. I was entranced by the colors the whole time. I really thought I was on the world. And it was hard to believe that the creatures were NOT real. You will regret it if you don't see it. It is revolutionary. Doesn't have to be Imax. See it in 3D though. I'm going to see it a 2nd time and I'm not a huge movie-goer.

I saw this movie with my friend and loved it. I was so impressed with the story line and the graphics. They I told my friends son and daughter that it was the best movie I had ever seen. That I thought they should see it. We went again yesterday afternoon on Presidents day with them. After the movie I asked them for their honest opinion of the movie. And like myself, they thought it was the best movie they had ever seen. I am usually a tough critic on action movies. Because I was in the military for 12 years. And I always pick out things that don't make any sense. And I also worked at Warner Bros. And worked around the making of movies like the Matrix.

I held off on seeing this movie locally as I had heard so much about seeing it in IMAX 3D. IT was worth the wait. Good experience at the theater. Much better than my local cinema. Seats were comfortable and the glasses went away after a few minutes. Good story and not a lot of hoky 3D effects, the effects supported the story,not the other way around.

Excellent movie. IMAX 3D glasses annoying and left bridge of nose hurting. If not looking straight at screen, blurried images. All in all a great entertaining flick. Enjoyed with my kids and will see again (maybe in regular 3D).

3D at the IMAX is the only way to go. The special affects were great as well as the story line and the characters. I would see this again because I am sure there are things that I missed the first time because I was in awe.

While the plot was predictable and the themes were borrowed from many other movies, the visual effects of this movie really blew me away. It's always a pleasure to just get totally absorbed in a film and Avatar does that to you...at least the 3D release. Others who saw both versions have said it's good but not really worth seeing if it's not 3D.

IMAX was my third time seeing this movie; other two were regular 3D. IMAX absolutely diminished the viewing quality of this movie. Was blurry, and the amazing colors lost their vitality in this theater. Getting back to the movie itself - it's the most amazing technology breakthrough yet. James Cameron said this is just the beginning of possibilities with this kind of movie. I absolutely cannot WAIT for more.
