I enjoyed this movie, it held my attention and entertained me. It delivered some great "dark comedy" as well a lot of emotion when it came to the heartless way people losing their jobs were treated and the way the Clooney character starts to realize that he needs other people to be whole. And it delivers what I'll call a happy ending.

Very believable, there's always little humor in tragedy and Jason brings it out. Brought home a lot of feelings from personal experiences over the years of being in a management position. The women will love George's performance.

A total disappointment. The hilarious previews and George Clooney's smile had sucked me in like a vacuum, but it turns out that the comedy ended with the previews. The only believable parts were when George Clooney's dispassionate character fires all those shocked, desperate people, and who but a sadist wants to watch that? The rest was merely an array of the trite and superficial. I kept assuming that it would improve, that something would "wake this movie up," but clearly, I just wasted my time. Even George Clooney's gift for acting could not carry this weak movie-going experience.

I think I had high expectations because of all the buzz about this movie. Very disappointing. I kept thinking, "ok, it is going to get better soon." But it never did. I didn't expect the plot to be as deep as this one was. It does have some very funny lines, but I wouldn't call it a comedy. It's great to see a movie that's not full of violence and gratuitous nudity. It did leave me wondering "what's next?" The characters were each perfect for their parts. I found it highly enjoyable and sometimes painful. (The Preview told me it detected "Profanity" in my review. I think it was my use of the s-e-x word, which I changed to "gratuitous nudity.") Silly

I had no idea what to expect when I went to this movie, and that's what I got. It was certainly unusual, and my wife and I found it satisfying.
It had its grim elements; the reactions of the people getting fired were so realistic that it was painful to watch. Just like real life.
I don't see why anyone would not like this film. And I hope that its popularity will show the people who make movies that you can make a movie for grownups that will be a success.

Up in the Air" was well worth seeing. Surprising twists and turns in the story and it was quite thought provoking. I think I shed more tears then I laughed. While a bit uneven, I still found it engrossing and well worth some afternoon time.

I really enjoyed this movie. As a person that works in HR, I found it accurate in explaining how hard it is to do that type of job. I also was really interested in Clooney's character development throughout the film. I wish it had had more closure for Natalie's character though.

Nice movie - lite entertainment . No life changing emotional aspects to mess up your night. I unfortunatly saw many of the plot "twists" coming a mile away ( OK my husband did not). Clooney is always great eye candy.

Message is that loneliness stinks and that family is everything. I think I've heard this tune before. Protagonist Clooney's job is to fire people who have lives, families and commitments...something he lacks and does not desire. Strangely, he prides himself on his consoling ability. His big life goal: to amass 10 million frequent flier miles. He gives lectures on how relationships are everything which is hypocritical to his lifestyle. Many of the movie's lines are delivered too quick, snappy and cocky and feels artificial. 2 1/2 stars.

Overall impression - depressing. Funny parts were covered in the previews. It's the tale of a lost soul in an awful job (firing people) who has his brief touch with reality and hope evaporate. His life ends up more meaningless than when he started. Sold as a comedy, the movie end up as a half-baked tragedy.

I've been a fan of George Clooney's for quite a long time and I think this is his best movie yet. Overall this film is well acted and directed! Jason Reitman once again hits it out of the park with this film after directing "Juno" and "Thank You For Smoking". I was thoroughly surprised on how much I really liked this film so much so that I've seen it twice in a week! It's pretty rare for me to go see a film twice but "Up In The Air" is one of those films that stays with you. The supporting cast is also very good in this film as well especially Vera Farmiga. All in all go check this movie out! I doubt you'd be disappointed...

Besides the fact that he's George Clooney and most guys have a man crush, I identified with where his character is in his life, especially as someone who traveled for work the last seven years. Not nearly as much as Clooney's character, but enough to where I knew the genesis of his travel tips.
Spoiler Alert: they actually made the female lead the bad guy in this one. A welcome change not because I don't like women but because it showed that everyone is capable of high pitched infidelity.
All in all, it was worthy of it's high praise. The older female lead, Vera Farmiga, deserves some Oscar consideration. Great chemistry with Clooney.

Lead actors were terrific --roles well-defined and convincing. Character driven movie. Twist I didn't expect added to the appeal. A good movie I would recommend, but dark at the same time....Expected it to be lighter.

This is a thought provoking movie with George Clooney. The firing of employees by a company for hire that knows nothing of the employees is so crass, but it does happen. Then to add insult to injury by trying to fire employees via video conferencing was really disgusting and fraught with it's own issues and risks. Too much advanced technology is not always a good thing, but Clooney remains an evervescent star of the big screen.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This is a well-acted, well-directed movie that falls short of being good. Clooney lovers will all give this 5 stars because he is so good. The problem is that Reitman's script comes up short. Neither Ryan, Alex, or Natalie show any signs of growth from these experiences. We in the audience want them to grow but when you stop and actually look at the film, it is obvious that nothing changes. Too bad.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
