I like almost all of Woody Allen's stuff and this is no exception. The story is compelling and while the lead character is not a figure that encourages sympathy, she captures the audience and one finds himself wanting her to find a graceful way out of her situ. The writing, direction, and acting is superb. I believe Cate Blanchett will receive an Oscar nomination for this role, and other cast members may very well do the same. Maybe this proves that I'm no Woody Allen, but I would have found a better ending; I'd love to hear Woody Allen explain why he told the story the way he did and why he ended it as he did.
Pros well paced, great story, great actors
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie, I was not expecting to like it so much because it is a documentry. But the story of a dylanesque musician, unknown in circa 1970 America, but popular and revered in South Africa. The thing is, he is not aware of being popular anywhere or of any commercial success of his music. The movie tells the story in documentry format, the story keeps your interest and there is a surprise ending. The natural beauty of Cape Town is displayed from many angles and with interesting photographic effects in contrast to Sixto Rodriguez' home in a run down area of Detroit.
Pros great story, uplifting

Solid Drama, Sad History

This was an excellent movie, compelling story and first rate acting. The backdrop of the story is a set of sad and unfortunate facts in our coutry's history, where srong bias and a perceived need for swift resolution did not serve justice. The leading character is a real person, who was a Union war hero prior to these events. Robert Redford directed this movie and tells a powerful story that keeps moving and keeps the viewer's attention.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

A first rate drama of Academy Award Caliber

I enjoyed this movie and found it lived up to its billing as an interesting and suspenseful physo-drama. I'm not into ballet per se, but I enjoyed the story and the parallels to the Black Swan dance story, which the players were working to perform. I enjoyed the story told in the movie and the acting. I think the movie is deserving of critical praise it has received, and expect Academy Award nominations for best picture and best actress, possibly best supporting actress as well.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

I enjoyed this movie, it held my attention and entertained me. It delivered some great "dark comedy" as well a lot of emotion when it came to the heartless way people losing their jobs were treated and the way the Clooney character starts to realize that he needs other people to be whole. And it delivers what I'll call a happy ending.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Remarkable Story Told Well

I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. Is it the greatest movie I'll see this year: no. But it is a wonderfully told story of how he overcame his impossible situation to live, dream, and communicate with the outside world. I think everyone seeing this movie will feel as I do that they are genuinely glad that they saw this film. I found it to be excellent cinema, enambling the viewer to come close to feel and understand what life was like for Bauby.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
