My level of enjoyment surpassed my expectation. The movie had drama, comedy, suspense, romance and action. As a child I enjoyed the original Star Trek television series which really added to my overall enjoyment because the movie played off of the characters from the original television series, but I believe viewers who never have seen the original show will still enjoy this movie. A huge thumbs up!!!!

I have been a long time trek fan, and I have to say that J.J Abrams really hit the mark with this take on the franchise. It was a wonderfully rich plot, intense action and emotion (and logic...hehe). The acting was surprisingly better than I honestly expected. The special effects were amazing but not over the top. It had everything a long time trek fan would hope to see in a re-boot, but it can very well stand alone for new fans. I am owning this on blueray as soon as it hits the stores! A must-see on the big screen though (IMAX is worth the drive...trust me)!

I never expected to see Star Trek for my Summer movie season of 2009, but the reviews were crazy so I knew I had to see it! I saw it on May 9th and that movie was awesome! Best IMAX movie of May! The action never stops, Simon Pegg is hilarious, and you realize that drama rises in the movie. I was skeptical going into this movie even though I am a closet Trekkie. All I can say (without giving anything away) is that it was an awesome movie especially considering there have been 5 television series and 10 movies previous to this one.

This movie rocks as a Sci-Fi action flick. Great visuals, spot-on casting, and reset a franchise that had jumped the shark with technology (Voyager anyone?) and longstanding characters (ShaKirk!). The story was passable but the important thing here was to give plausible rational for the rebooted version. In short a reboot of the franchise with uncharted waters ahead (can we please have a good TV series now so you can have more story and character driven episodes?).

For someone who has never seen a Star Trek movie, this movie was perfect. I had to have zero prior knowledge to understand and enjoy the movie. It was awesome! The IMAX experience is really awesome too. If you have been to the Boston Museum of Science IMAX it is not nearly as cool as that, but it is still REALLY awesome. The sound actually vibrates your chair.

Although I'm more "starwars" than "startrek" . I went to this movie because my 19 yr old son wanted to take me for Mother's Day. The movie captivates you from the beginning. You don't have to be a "trekkie" to understand it; there's a beginning-middle-and-an end. The special effects are fantastic, and the story line makes sense. My only negative comment is that it's Very loud-with non-stop action, and 2 hours of this makes for a pretty intense headache!

The movie was exciting, entertaining, and fun! The only drawback was the projector in the Hamilton NJ theater. It started out blurry & even after a 30 minute delay, was only ok. This movie was well shot, some good acting (and some acting that left something to be desired). The storyline for the most was pretty solid, a few holes in though - what happened to young James T and the officer in Iowa?, the whole tension between Lt Uhura and Spock, seems contrary to the Original TV show, so in my opinion a little weak (streched).
I watched it in 'IMAX'. Overall though I would see it again but maybe not on IMAX.

Much like the Star Trek The Wrath of Khan, Trek always seems to get better when an outsider (like Nick Meyer and JJ Adams) reapproaches the material. Trek now has a kind of "Bourne Identity" drive, where action is far more interesting than characters standing around talking. One thing needs to be improved - those Enterprise shirts. Star Trek & IMAX... EXCELLENT. Phenominal match! I wouldn't want to see the movie in any other style theater. Should not be missed on an IMAX screen.
This will probably be ranked as one of the best sci-fi movies ever made.

The best movie I have seen, EVER! I was forced to watch the original series as a kid, with my father. I am sooooo glad he did that. I love what JJ Abrams did to the Trek franchise. The possibilities are now endless, I look forward to the next one, and they better make it just as good or not better. Although I do not know how they could make it better.
