I've seen every Trek Movie and this one is Fantastic! I've seen this one twice -- Unforgettable! Here's a tip -- See it in IMAX!!! The screen is larger, the sound is better, and its not as crowded. As far as the movie goes it's action did not overshadow the plot and subplot and the characters were dynamic and not static echoes of the old Kirk Enterprise Crew. Its a better movie than X-Men Origins: Wolverine as far as story composition, plot, character development, comedic overtones and ACTION! Two words "Punch it!" say it all!! Do yourself a favor and see the flick before it leaves IMAX.

I was very pleasantly surprised when I watched this movie. I've been a Star Trek fan since I was a boy in the 70's and I feel like the franchise has lost it's way in the last 10-15 years. I wouldn't describe myself as a Trekkie, but I've seen almost every incarnation of the franchise. Of the theatrical releases, this is my new favorite. I know it's blasphemy to rate anything above Wrath of Khan, but this movie had everything I love about Star Trek - funny moments, tons of action, and a great plot.

Having watched Star Trek from it's original air date in 1966, I'm an original Trek fan, and the tie-ins with original characters and how they met & interacted with one another really worked for me. The action is great, the sound, acting & storyline are all spot-on. My only complaint would be that this movie was not filmed in IMAX format, and seeing it in an IMAX theater did nothing special for it. In fact, many of the images were blurry or out of focus. All-in-all, I've already seen the movie twice, and loved it both times.

I took my mother to see this and both of us loved it. My mother tends to fall asleep during movies, but this time she said it was so exciting that she couldn't sleep! I am a 'Next Generation' Trekkie was so unfamiliar with the characters (and I refuse to sit thru the original Star Trek episodes), however, I really enjoyed the intro to the characters and their interactions. I am now a complete fan of Spock! I was very impressed with Quinto in this portrayal, and his acting gave serious credilibility to the nerdy looking, serious dude with the pointy ears! Live long and prosper!

The special effects were very good. The plot was simplistic. There were some tidbits thrown to those of us who have enjoyed Star Trek since it was in TV.
There was some humor in the tradition of the original series that was good.
It was also a little over violent at times.
Overall, it is better than most movies today that pass themselves off as science fiction.

We saw the Movie on the IMAX screen. WOW that is the only way to see it. We came out of the theater with a headach. but itis worth it. The story line being different from TOS is explained well and i thought the actors were a perfect match. The action and FX are better than any ST movie to date. Iloved the way we have seen the caracters evolved to the ones we have seen in the TOS. Uhura and Spock? looks like she made the logical choice.

My overall all rating is 4 stars. I did enjoy it!First, the theater: NYC AMC IMAX at 42nd & 8th sucks! Go to the NYC Lincoln Center Lowes IMAX. It is a real IMAX. Second the movie: I keep up with the movies as well as tv, however I do not consider myself a Trekie. It is Spock and young James T. Kirk's conversation on the icy planet that explains why this movie is being called a "reset". To have arrived at this as the key to develop this new group works because it ties it into episodes from the TV series. I also loved all the references to the original tv series and the nostalgia. For example, having young Kirk sleeping with a green college/cadet girl was a nice salute to the old tv series in a sly way.

This is perhaps the closest to a perfect reboot for a franchise ever, delving into time travel and alternate realities, while at the same time re-introducing known and beloved characters to a legion of new fans. Those elements come at a price to the overtly thinking mind - good enough to spark discussion among fans though - almost like the guilty pleasure one derives from watching 'Heroes'. Quinto makes us forget Sylar, and that's an achievement. And Winona Ryder - what a fall from grace! Wish there had been a way to re-cast DeForest Kelley and Shatner as well, the way Nimoy was cast. All I can say this movie deserves 5 stars. Great casting, awesome special effects, cool action sequences.

Beam me up so badly........Love this movie. The much younger actors did a wonderful job in making a wonderful old tv show into a wonderful new movie. Loved the two Spocks having dialogue, Zachary makes a very thrilling new Mr. Spock. Zoe surprised me with her portrayal of Zyota Uhura. She did her homework. I also like Karl Urban's portrayal of Bones McCoy. Definately see this movie, well worth the money and if you can, see it in IMAX

While it wouldn't be Star Trek without a dash of meddling with the time line, they ALMOST always seem to repair the damage. (A few episodes do go down the alternate reality route, most notably in my mind is from the newest Enterprise series in which an alternate 1st contact with the vulcans leads humanity down a path to inerstellar conquest) I fear they went the alternate reality route so that inconsistancies with the story could be chalked up to "The timeline and events were changed by the Romulans trip to the past and *insert* is a result of the altered reality. Plot choice aside, I thought it was a great film. The actors each were amazing, and the action scenes were spectacular.

Fun, well-acted, faithful to the canon but just different enough to make it all worth the effort. I really enjoyed this movie...though it made me miss the old crew at times. But hey, life goes on. Check it out. In my opinion it's not superior to "Wrath of Khan," but darn good and a lot of fun. Nimoy was excellent, and it was very touching the way he was used in the film. I was moved.

I have been a fan of Star Trek since I was three ( trust me, It was a long time ago) and I was initially concerned about how the movie would be handled. I was not disappointed. In fact, I cannot say enough about this movie. It was excellent through and through.

I really enjoyed the movie. There was action from the very beginning and kept me interested until the end. I would definitely recommend this movie to anyone that has an interest in sci-fi or even just in action films with a good plot.
