Very good movie and a fresh feel for the Star Trek series. Engaging character development blended with good sci-fiction. Trying to tackle the idea of destiny versus time was particularily appealing. I was only let down a little with how they brought Scotty into the fold. But, other than that a very good movie and great jump start to I'm assuming a whole new series of movies with the same, but different characters.

Action packed from beginning to end, this "reboot" of the franchise was especially cool to see on the IMAX screen. As someone familiar with the series, I loved the way they brought the beloved characters together in a new, fresh way. The movie was done in such a way so that even if you know nothing about Star Trek, you aren't the least bit left out, while providing some fun "in-jokes" for the established fan.

With very few exceptions the "younger" Enterprise crew was wonderfully cast.. I loved the young McCoy!!! Having grown up in Trek culture I paid close attention to the incorporation of known details from the characters lives and was pleasantly surprised with the accuracy. See this film!!! If possible, see it on IMAX!!! We were "transported" INTO the story viewing this production on the IMAX screen in Hooksett. We purchased tickets online, picked them up at the kiosk and bypassed a lengthy line at the box office.

This movie was truly amazing - saw it twice - 2nd time at IMAX - it was the BEST - I've been a Star Trek fan for years...not "obsessed" but really do love The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine series - this movie had everything - humor, suspense, drama, and kept you on the edge of your seat. Effects were awesome, and I believe this movie will win several awards. Acting was superb by all....Simon Pegg and Zachary Quinto were my favorites!

Being a fan since the series first aired in the 60s I was somewhat hesitant to go see this rendition. I am so glad that I did! I haven't enjoyed a movie so much in a long time. It had everything I could have wanted. It was fun seeing all the references to the series which were not interruptive for the newbie viewer. Our party had a mix of newbie, rerunners and original viewers and we all enjoyed it tremendously. A Must see, We loved seeing it at IMAX

Great movie. I saw it on the regular screen and IMAX. IMAX is the way to go. Bigger, more detail, better sound. Think of HD on the big screen. The movie was still great seeing it a second time. Let me start by saying that I've never been a Star Trek fan. I have never been interested in the franchise, that is, until I watched the trailer for this online. It made me want to see a Star Trek movie for the first time in my life! Fast forward to last night, when I happened upon the opportunity to watch this bad boy in IMAX. I knew I wasn't going to be disappointed, and sure enough, I wasn't. It was a fantastic movie, with the right amount of action, humor, sci-fi and romance mixed in. The IMAX experience was just icing on the cake! The sound alone was worth the price of admission. Seeing the Enterprise on the huge, crystal clear IMAX screen was great. It's something everyone should have the opportunity to see. Highly recommended!

I love Star Trek, but this should appeal to folks new to Trek. The actors captured the chemistry of the original characters and were believable as the "young" versions of the original crew. Thin plot and Winona Ryder plays Spock's mother (oh, snap! She must feel old)
The SFX and action is so good you will not care there is almost no plot. Some of the older crowd will miss the ample drama and plot line of the earlier Star Trek movies which balanced the drama against the eye candy. This show is all about effects.
Acting is generally good but Karl Urban lays McCoy on so thick, you'll need dilithium crystals to cut through it. It was wonderful to see Leonard Nimoy up on the big screen again.
Overall a fun movie.

Loved the movie -- good storyline and action. IMAX is a scam! Do not pay the extra for it, screen was barely bigger than a large theater.

This frachise is now in brilliant hands. Director J.J. Abrams must be a fan of the original TV series (like me who shed tears throughout) since he evokes the original over and over with a continuous series of nuanced gestures. Kirk, about to be stomped into oblivion by the Romulan bad guy, is trying to say something. He finally gasps out the words, "I've got your gun," and then turns the tables. All the actors are marvelous, particularly the young Kirk and Spock, and the action never stops and never drags. See it in IMAX and you'll be glad you paid the additonal $4.

I really enjoyed this movie. The story never lagged. The graphics were great. There was enough tie-back to the original series to keep my interest. I did not like the interpretation of one of the supportive characters (which I won't mention so as not to reveal too much), but I won't let it cloud the fact I was thoroughly entertained. I loved the way the new actors brought the youthful versions to the screen. Go see it, and just enjoy the ride.
