This frachise is now in brilliant hands. Director J.J. Abrams must be a fan of the original TV series (like me who shed tears throughout) since he evokes the original over and over with a continuous series of nuanced gestures. Kirk, about to be stomped into oblivion by the Romulan bad guy, is trying to say something. He finally gasps out the words, "I've got your gun," and then turns the tables. All the actors are marvelous, particularly the young Kirk and Spock, and the action never stops and never drags. See it in IMAX and you'll be glad you paid the additonal $4.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
