I really enjoy this movie. The comedy was quick witted and smart. Downey Jr. and Law were incredible in their roles and comical. I liked the darkness they portrayed with the character of Holmes. It was a little slow at the start but once it got going it was well worth the money to see. The cinematography was fantastic and they did a very good job with this as a period piece. Overall I think people will like it. I'm looking forward to a second if its done.

The film was definitely enjoyable, the actors did an excellent job and the action was well done. I enjoyed the fact that Sherlock Holmes was quirky and eccentric, true to the original character. It was a good set up for future sequels which I look forward to. Overall an enjoyable afternoon for my family.

I was confused at the beginning, but the movie started making sense later on. If you're not into wit and quick thinking, this is not the movie for you. I can see why Robert Downey, Jr won the Golden Globes last night - he was brilliant.

Excellent movie with great action scenes. Good photography. Fast paced. If you are looking to leave your brain at home this movie will leave you in the dust. It is witty, quick, and loaded with twists. Most people will miss some critical information about secret societies, and the role they play, if they have never done research on the Masons, Knights of Templar, or the Illuminate.

it was entertaining. wouldn't need to see it again. don't really need to see any sequel when it comes out. thought robert downey jr/ jude law with their great skills and great looks, along with rachel mcAdams' costumes would make it good. but it left me neither here nor there. sherlock's detective skills were a bit far fetched. special effects and scenery with cg are over the top and unnecessary. maybe too da vinci code with the whole "order" bit. prefer perioud pictures to be authentic. best thing in the film: rachel McAdams moments of kick but girlie toughs on the streets whilst wearing an oddly sexy fuscia bustle and ridiculous victorian chapeau.

Great movie. I loved the way it was edited. The end credit sequence was very motivating (I am a graphic designer interested in credit design). Jude and Robert work well together and were actually quite complimentary. The CG was great and the comedic timing was perfect. Costume design may have been a little eccentric for the era, in terms of boldness and fabric type. However, it complimented the high contrast design of the movie. Kudos to whoever cast the bulldog as well.

Do not go to this movie expecting Jeremy Brett's Sherlock Holmes. Go expecing Sherlock Holmes meets the wonderful Steampunk tv series "Wild Wild West".
Very fun depiction of Doctor Watson and Inspector Lestrade, and it was obvious the writers knew their subject even if they took it in a fun and different direction. Lots of Action, lots of fun special effects and good acting. They set up the groundwork for a sequel quite nicely.

Sherlock Holmes the movie was done in a dark overtone that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle would have been proud of and I believe had intended. It was a good introduction to the characters and set-up the Holmes saga for the future very well. He wasnt portrayed as a dry humorless Brit that we have seen in some TV shows, but had a nice dry Brit sense of humor.
Most everything was done well and not overdone. The movie was served well by the grand period backdrops and wasn't overdone to be too distracting. particularly liked the "calling of the fight" scenes. Alot went on
during those scenes you wouldn't have otherwise seen.

Not your typical Sherlock Holmes! The cast was great, the storyline was good, it had a lot of action; however, I had a hard time understanding the dialog, thus making it difficult to follow the plot. My husband enjoyed the movie and said he would give it a 4-star rating; however, he, too, had difficulty with the dialog and had to really pay attention in order to understand the English accents. I ended up watching the inside of my eyelids while my husband watched the movie.

If you watch BBC regularly or you are used to listening to fast-talking British people, you will not have an issue hearing what the actors are saying.
Robert Downey Jr. is my hero. Law and Strong were also excellent, but Downey Jr. steals the show.
I could have done without Rachel McAdams.

People forget Sherlock was not Mycroft, and Watson was a military man... this is the most true to the books I've ever seen. A brilliant, dynamic Holmes (when the game's afoot) and a normal Watson. These guys and cast were fantastic, I really hope they'll do it again!

I wasn't sure what to expect. This movie did not follow the stories written about Sherlock Holmes, but it went to new places with the characters and I for one found it to be entertaining and funny! Robert Downey, JR and Jude Law made a captivating duo. Witnessing there character play between them was a joy to watch. I hope there is a sequel as I was left wanting more.

I went with eh GF expecting this to be ok. I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome. I had this image in my head of the movie taking forever to get over. In reality it zoomed by and the theatrics where not as boring anticipated.

Went and saw Sherlock Holmes with a girlfriend and, though I expected to enjoy it, I never expected to love it as much as I did. Downey and Law were amazing--you couldn't have cast these roles any better. The film moved fast but the story didn't suffer for it. It was a great ride!
