Sherlock Holmes the movie was done in a dark overtone that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle would have been proud of and I believe had intended. It was a good introduction to the characters and set-up the Holmes saga for the future very well. He wasnt portrayed as a dry humorless Brit that we have seen in some TV shows, but had a nice dry Brit sense of humor.
Most everything was done well and not overdone. The movie was served well by the grand period backdrops and wasn't overdone to be too distracting. particularly liked the "calling of the fight" scenes. Alot went on during those scenes you wouldn't have otherwise seen.
