Absolutely awesome. We went to see this with roommate and close friend after getting back from dinner, and I can say it was a great use of $30. We were laughing, 'oh ****'ing, and all around enjoying the heck out of the movie the entire time. Definitely a movie I'll be buying when it's released.

This move was the best I've seen in a long time. It was funny, exciting, witty, etc. etc. For the fans that love Doyle, don't expect it to be like to books. The books were written many, many years ago and trying to make the movie true to the books wouldn't make money in hollywood in 2009. Give me a break. So the haters.....back off! Robert was brilliant.....again. All in all, this movie is a must see!

I was looking forward to this movie and it did not disappoint. I have always enjoyed Sherlock Holmes movies from the past, and this was the best of them all. Robert Downey Jr. was excellent in the role, and Jude Law's portrayal of Doctor Watson, although not traditional, was very good as well. If you grew up on Holmes, you will enjoy this movie.

Lots of fun! I will see again to pick up on all the little extras that I'm sure I missed. Very Exciting lots of adventure and the plot really keeps it going. Robert Downey Jr. has never been more attractive.

Didn't expect much going in, and was pleasantly surprised. Downey was excellent, and the villain was deliciously bad. And the sequel is ready-made, with Moriarty playing a role, too. Worth seeing.

Obviously Guy Richie has tons of fans who get his work and if you're one of them you'll love it. I don't. The performances were spot on but the direction bothered me a great deal and threw me out of the film. So, if you, like me haven't yet gotten the brilliance of Guy.. wait and spend your money on Avatar. If you just plain love RDJ go.. he's brilliant as usual. Jude Law was spot on. The performances not a problem at all...

Excellent script. Good continuity. Character development is interesting and compelling. Holmes, Watson and the secondary characters are more humanized in this film than in previous iterations. This is a good thing as it makes for compelling relationships which enhance the story. Special effects are in line with the script and are not so overwhelming as to detract from the arc of the picture. I recommend this film and hope that sequels, if any, live up to its promise.

I would recommend this movie to others, yes. But for your kids I wouldn't recommend it. Unless your kids are interested in mysteries and dramas and a little of comedy. Our boys were pretty bord during the movie.

An interesting plot twist that pays off in the end. Opening scene draws you in immediately. Robert Downey jr, and Jude Law were certainly paired well as 19th Century Buddies. I could've done without the "Fight Club" scenes. Didn't really add to the plot other than to show interesting camera shots & Sherlock could kick the (blank) out of you with his logic. Great moments of tension in the slaughterhouse scene, as well as on the scaffolding of the London Bridge. The bright light in this film was the darkest character. Mark Strong's portrayal of Lord Blackwood was intriguing, seductive, and beguliing which definitely leveled the good vs evil playing field.

Loved the effects in this movie. I liked the way Holmes would plan out his fight sequences in slow motion with explanations. I find Kelly Reilly intriguing ever since she played the part of Jane in the Libertine.

Loved this movie, great directing, enjoyed the writing, performances, always love Robert Downey and Jude Law (although Rachel was not really the best casting choice for her role). The story line was engaging and most of all was not predictable so kept my interest all the way through to the end as I wondered what would happen next!

I went into this movie expecting fun, not quality, and I was pleasantly surprised. What surprised me was the attention to detail and the accuracy of the Holmes character. Whenever Sherlock explains how he solves a particular mystery, the clues don't just come out of nowhere – we've seen him picking up the clues, and it's neither too subtle nor too obvious. The portrayal of Sherlock seems different than what we may have been expecting, but it's actually very accurate. The martial arts, the personality quirks, the relationship with Watson, even the piles of papers in his office – it's all impressively consistent with the Holmes from the book. Overall, an enjoyable and interesting movie.

This is Sherlock Holmes as a bare-knuckled street-fighter. All of the deductive reasoning, superior powers of observation, and the substance abuse is still there, along with some real laughs. Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce may be spinning in their graves, but Robert Downey Jr and Jude Law are Holmes and Watson as portrayed by Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. This is a good movie.

I truly LOVED THIS MOVIE. It was amazing and funny and dark and mysterious and downright brilliant. At points, things got confusing do to not being able to hear the actors clearly through their accents and volume, but caught on after a few seconds. Robert Downey Jr. and Jude Law were an amazing and charming duo. Not to mention mistress Rachel McAdams was fantastic as usual. This was a great film that channeled The Davinci Code meets Wild Wild West. Incredible. Definite MUST SEE movie.
