If you like looking at lots and lots of close-ups of Reese Witherspoon, her tan and her legs, then this is the movie for you. Paul Ruud gets lots of loving attention from the camera, also. I wouldn't call it painfully bad, but the end is just silly. The movie might actually go somewhere - it's not a bad story - but the ending is just weak. Some cute lines; nice city scenes; good camera work. Weak plot and dialogue. Jack Nicholson continues his career of playing Jack Nicholson.
Didn't expect much going in, and was pleasantly surprised. Downey was excellent, and the villain was deliciously bad. And the sequel is ready-made, with Moriarty playing a role, too. Worth seeing.
