Took my Mom and sister in law and we all enjoyed it. Meryl Streep does an excellent job as Julia Child. She's got the voice down and you can't help but smile when she's on screen. Amy Adams did her part well too.

This movie is funny, heartwarming, wonderfully written and acted....Streep does an amazing job as JC and the cast falls in place around her. Amy Adams also does a great job as Julie...although I think they could have made two separate movies and both would have done equally as well.

This is a wonderful movie with Meryl Streep really capturing the essence of Julia Child as I remember her on TV. The Boeuf Bourgignon recipe that flows through the movie has also always been one of my favorites and Julie's attempts to recreate Julia's recipes are at times charming and at other times annoying - just like real life! Kudos to all the cast.

Meryl Streep so nailed Julia Child!! She made me reminisce to the point that I came home and bought a DVD collection of the old TV show! The movie was well done beyond the acting, though. Yes, it was about food -- but really, it was about two women realizing their potentials. The fact that it wasn't smooth sailing for either one made it both hysterically funny and poignant. I was desperate for some escapism from my overly-responsible real world life. This movie hit the spot! Thank you!

Strictly a female flick!! Movie is too long. Meryl Streep is excellent but her voice is grating on you. Movie drags and may put you to sleep. Cannot get excited about watching 'beef Bourgeone" burn and then being recooked. Movie did not even develop my appetite. Watching Tucci and Streep be romantic was a real turn off. I have seen better travelogues of Paris and Long island city. Maybe 2 stars

I liked the movie, but I was expecting it to be better. It was about 20 minutes too long, and I was very disappointed that Julie didn't get to meet her idol. I did, however, enjoy the positive messages in the movie. Meryl Streep was superb as Julia. Overall, it was good, but not great.

I saw this movie on a lazy Sunday afternoon with no expectations. What a pleasant surpise! It was wonderful.
Streep was superb as always. Amy Adams was perfect. Nora Ephron is a master in this genre and she was on top of her game. Nora had all the right ingredients for this perfectly acted tale. The recipe for a great movie: Streep and Adams. Cooked to just the right temperature.
Don't miss it. Gobble it up like I did.

Thoroughly enjoyed this feature! Meryl Streep never fails to entertain and she had me absolutely convinced she was Julia Child. Amy Adams is such a talented, versatile actress and I am really enjoying her career choices. The movie centers on the their relationships with their husbands, however, I walked away with some good cooking hints. Having watched Julia Childs' show on TV, this movie brought back many fond memories. Meryl was unbelievable in her role as Julia and Amy was as cute as a bug's ear as Julie. I only wish the two could have met in real life!!!!!

I really enjoyed this movie. I felt drawn in by both Julie & Julia as if I were an observer there with them. Meryl Streep provided an outstanding portrayal as always. A light-hearted and very expected storyline. Meryl Streep was of course wonderful and Amy Adams added a very refreshing and updated spin.

Streep was fabulous, and so was Stanley Tucci as her husband. The parts of the movie devoted to Julia Child and her era were wonderful. The parts about Julie and her life were tedious. Watching these 30-something year-olds is not really palatable--boring, self-absorbed, selfish, whining, purposeless, and nowhere near up to the mark of the magnificent Child, who also suffered from "nothing to do" in her day but corrected that with incredible panache. Amy Adams portrayed the insipid Julie very well, but why make a movie about insipid people? Streep's Julia is why the movie got 4 stars from me, otherwise it's 2 stars. Dull writing, no plot to speak of; it all relies on Julia Child and there isn't enough of her.
