Meryl Streeps portrayal of Julia Childs was an act of mastery. Stanley Tucci was wonderfully supportive too. A delightful storyline and unique juxtaposition of Julie and Julia; a side of Julia Childs we never knew. Funny where one wouldn’t expect; interesting and captivating as no one (myself included) could imagine. Go see it without any expectations, and be pleasantly surprised with a fulfilling Movie experience.

We go to movies based on trailers, not upon reading the critic's analysis.
While Streep did an excellent job portraying the late Julia Child, some how we expected a better and more academy award caliber performance.
Amy Adams was good and demonstrated some of her failures with a flair.
However, the movie seemed to drag on and on and by the time the end of it came about, we were ready for a real "bon apetite" even if it would be a Sonic burger.

A wonderfully charming movie. Meryl Streep alone makes the movie wonderul in her nearly flawess performance as Julia Child. The movie itself was well done with a wonderul supporting cast. The story revolves around two women of two different times and places. What I loved most was how the two parallel plots wove seemlessly between eachother. I'd recommend this to any Julia Child fan and foodies alike.

I liked the two separate story lines of the movie. Meryl Streep as Julia Child is amazing. And I even enjoyed Amy Adams' performance, although I did find her character a bit whiny. The only thing that was disappointing is the feeling of abrupt ending - it almost felt unfinished, and I was left wanting to see "the end". But I would still recommend this movie to friends.

A delightful tale of love and life served atop a metaphor of food. Merryl Streep should earn an academy nod. I never knew the real Julia Child, but Ms. Streep's portrayal inspires me to seek old footage.
The script focuses most on the parallels between two women separated by time yet inextricably linked by a love for the culinary arts. Julie Powell's character is a subtle indictment of the modern woman. Her shallow quest for external affirmation in order to feel as "purposeful" as her cobb-salad cohorts is a sobering contrast to Julia's passion for food and expression of self.
Many details of Julia’s life are glossed over. But a movie that asks as many questions as it answers may very well be recipe for cinematic success. Bravo!

This is a lovely movie, and watching the so gifted Meryl Streep as our beloved Julia Child was a joy. Character actor, Stanley Tucci played her wonderful husband, Paul Child; together they shared with us the very endearing private side of this unique couple. I loved all their scenes. Amy Adams is a very good actress. Chris Messina played her kind and long suffering husband who had to be her support during that very long blogging year. I did not like that side of the story as much, but it was the point of making the movie... And I must say the food was all beautufully filmed. I highly recommend the entire movie just to see all those wonderful scenes with Streep and Tucci! Bon Appetit!

My husband and I loved this movie for many reasons-the first is that we are inspired by true stories of people persevering to achieve their goals. Along with that, Meryl Streep is the greatest actress alive and just did a superb job as Julia Child. I've already started reading her book "My Life in France" as a result of being drawn in by the movie. We like Amy Adams alot, but the woman she portrayed wasn't as interesting or likable as previous roles she's played, but she did a very good job with what she was given. I'll see this again, and am inspired to do more in the kitchen myself!

Went to 10 am show Sunday. Not too many people, but everyone had several - no, many - laugh out loud moments. Meryl Streep owned Julia Child and Amy Adams captured the frustrated 30-year-old who just wanted to have an ambition and see it through. The parallel story lines were interesting and they sequed between them quite nicely. The ending was not what I expected. At first I was a (very) little disappointed. Then realized it made me want to know more about both characters. That, to me, is the sign of a movie that engages its audience. Meryl Streep & Stanley Tucci = Oscars

An excellent film -- Meryl Streep completely NAILED Julia Child, I almost forgot I wasn't watching the "real" Julia. Though Amy Adams did a good job in her portrayal of Julie, I found myself caring nothing for her character and rather resenting her rather undeserved overnight success, in contrast to the many years of work that Child put in. Still, it was a very enjoyable film and I'd expect Streep to get an Oscar nomination for her role.

This is an enjoyable way to spend 2 hours in the middle of the heat of summer. Meryl Streep completely transforms herself yet again from The Devil Wears Prada and Mamma Mia to creating Julia Child in this delightful movie. Not to take anything away from Amy Adams. Her character and its parallel to the Julia universe comes into her own eventually. But it's Streep that everyone will remember once it ends. And Stanley Tucci, yet again paired with Streep (Prada) who is excellent as Julia's husband.

I went expecting to fawn over Meryl Streep as Julia, and to find the Amy Adams character underwhelming and not sympathetic (or so the professional movie reviewers were telling me). Suprisingly, I had the opposite reaction. The Julie character is extremely sympathetic for those of us that have ended up in rather dead-end jobs as "info tech america" has killed careers that involve good writing. My only gripe is that it seemed the Julia character was only covered superficially. I read "My Life In France", and there's so much more that could be covered. Meryl did do a great job, but there was so little of it.

Funny, light and sweet like one of it many recipes, J&J is acting heaven. Meryl Streep cannot be denied another Oscar for this the portrayal of a iconic American force of nature, Julia Child. Amy Adams is similarly outstanding as Julie a woman searching for her inner Julia.
And Stanley Tucci's funny, sexy and layered performance as Julia's husband shows why he is the most underrated actor in Hollywood.
I think all three will be nominated but Streep and Tucci will linger in your imagination long after the credits roll.

Switching back and fourth between parallel stories is jarring at first and I was reluctant to leave Streep's lovable caricature of Child for the downward spiral of Adams' Julie. But, before too long, I grew to love her too. Amy Adams gives a sincere performance and one that departs from her norm by not leaving you with a toothache. Meryl, on the other hand, takes her turn at a larger-than-life character and, although thoroughly enjoyable, feels like Julia Child could never have possibly existed. She seemed more like a fairy godmother than a real person. Still, good movie, very satisfying. See it early and have dinner reservations at a great French restaurant afterwords. You'll be craving some of the delicious food cooked up in the movie.

I loved this movie. Meryl Streep is so amazing! She really became Julia Child. Amy Adams was also very good. Don't go if you are hungry because the food was amazing!

I went to to see this movie strictly because Meryl Streep was in it. I was very pleasantly surprised by Amy Adams and the work she did portraying Julie. Meryl's Julia was dead-on and she made the role very interesting, I learned a lot about Julia Child that I never knew before! All in all very enjoyable movie experience!

I think this is a well acted and fun movie. It is true that the Julia Child part of the movie is more engaging than Julie's story, but it doesn't take away from the pure joy of this movie.

My husband and I saw Julie and Julia yesterday. We both loved it. It could have had a slightly better ending but the movie was a lot of fun.
