The first was very like reading a well written, and dark, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Holmes story. This sequel was refreshingly fun and witty and full of action, but kept the drama intact. Great movie, and I would see it again. I recommend it!
Could have been cute, but Hollywood chooses to have excessive use of adult themes in most movies. Sandra Bullock is the saddest character--and so well played!--I have ever seen her portray. "Mary" seems as borderline autistic or asbergers. She realises no social boundaries or concept of personal space. But she is the hero in her own story as she saves the life a deaf girl who had fallen into a mine with her classmates--and not found by rescuers.
This is a lovely movie, and watching the so gifted Meryl Streep as our beloved Julia Child was a joy. Character actor, Stanley Tucci played her wonderful husband, Paul Child; together they shared with us the very endearing private side of this unique couple. I loved all their scenes. Amy Adams is a very good actress. Chris Messina played her kind and long suffering husband who had to be her support during that very long blogging year. I did not like that side of the story as much, but it was the point of making the movie... And I must say the food was all beautufully filmed. I highly recommend the entire movie just to see all those wonderful scenes with Streep and Tucci! Bon Appetit!
