It's not as good as the first one, but to be fair, Favreau set a pretty high bar for himself. Slow to start but you're satisfied enough in the end. The challenge with any sequel is the story as the origin of the character has pretty much been established. But the creative team does a nice job of trying to add a few new wrinkles. Mickey Rourke was convincing in the part but suffered from not enough screen time. Scarlett Johanssen is gorgeous in this film, but aside from the sex appeal you wonder why she really needs to be in the movie. Don Cheadle is a down grade from Terrence Howard. Robert Downey Jr. plays this part so well, with such ease, that even when he's unlikeable, he's likeable. You get what you pay for, high end VFX, great sound, and some flashy directing. B+

This is a movie for everyone who loves action, superheroes, sci-fi, great special effects, romantic interests, etc. to enjoy. I am recommending this to everyone, and I am also advising people to see the first Iron Man as there is a strong connection. See it again!

Robert Downey, Jr. does it again - another awesome performance as Tony Stark. The supporting cast is excellent and I loved how one really doesn't know if Scarlett Johannson's character is good or evil for a while, and what about Dr. Nick Fury - is he good or bad-one doesn't know for a while. Mickey Rourke is an odd villain, but pulls it off, I think. But, my favorite is RD,Jr. His sarcasm is spot on and Don Cheadle did a great job as the 'sidekick." This was a great movie to kick off the summer!

Pretty much what I expected. Nothing special though. Nowhere near as good as the first one. This is probably going to be Mickey Rourkes last big gig. He sucks. This movie was awsome, especially ironmans new 1 use lazer, and the final battle, also funny with 'the exwife' bit and Scarlett Johansson was extra hot as the secret agent/secretary, iron man had less weapons than the prequel though, best part was the BFF battle btw the mark IV (Tony) & mark II (Rhody) ironmen, wish same guy played Rhody from the 1st movie. Dont forget to watch the post-credit ending, showing that Thor is deffinetly going to be in the ULTIMATE AVENGERS, just like at the end of the Incredable Hulk(sequal to the Hulk) which shows Stark trying to look for Bruce Banner to recruite him 4 S.H.I.E.L.D, which is probably why they're rebuting Spiderman so as to get someone younger to play as Spiderman in the 2014 movie ULTIMATE AVENGERS, which means Hugh Jackman isn't done playing as Wolverine just yet.

It was weird seeing the new Rhodie as I hate it when they change major characters for sequels (hence the 4/5 rating). Other than that, Don Cheadie played a great role and the general action was great. It was not as good as the original, but it was still a great movie. I would definately recommend this if you are into sci-fi action movies and especially the Marvel Universe.

Took our 3 boys (ages 7, 11, and 15 years) to see the movie. 7 and 11 year old really liked it. They didn't get bored. 15 year old and hubby thought it was a little slow in the middle. I thought it was good. I liked the background information in the storyline. Slower probably as far as the action, although there is a lot of action in the last 30-45 minutes, so if you're looking for non-stop action, this isn't the movie. But I thought it was good none-the-less. Glad we saw it on the big screen.

NO plot - badly written. So many talented actors in this production, that it was the saddest thing to waste that. Action was clipped as if the editor and director wanted to get too much into the film and didn't have enough time. CHOP CHOP CHOP. There was no real continuity or humor and a waste of talent. Action!? Sure...but it was like flashes of light and lots of loud sound, you couldn't get into it.

Definitely suffered from middle child syndrome. Well acted, well directed and pretty, like the first movie. It felt like it had studio execs hands all over it, much more than the first movie. There was too many scenes setting up the Avengers movie shoe-horned into Iron Man 2, and it suffered for it. Overall very enjoyable.

I felt the movie paced itself well with no boring lulls. It did try out the usual superhero sequel theme of "should I really do this, does anyone appreciate me?" Not only was the plot boring, but there was no real excitement or real sense of danger other than as advertized - an animation of a comic book character. The up and down personality traits of the Robert Downey Jr. character was difficult to understand why he was so obnoxious and then caring. I wanted to leave in the middle, but unfortunately for me, I have to see anything I start through to the dismal end. And, what was the kiss at the end of the movie with Gwenith Paltrow about? The best part, however, was played by Scarlett Johansson.

I took my 7 year old grandson to Iron Man 2 and we both loved it. Now we have to get Iron Man 1 on DVD. I don't know how we missed it. By the way "Fork & Screen" is the only way we see movies now.

i saw the first ironman movie but didn't feel you needed to in order to see Ironman 2. it was a good movie. action packed. some of the fight scenes with scarlet were way too superimposed. they could have taught her some of the moves for her to perform herself. :) overall, good movie. i'd recommend seeing it.

This movie was FABULOUS. I saw it opening day and went back this past weekend to see it again with my sisters! Enjoyed it just as much the second time!
Story was really good, interaction between the cast even better than last time. Humor was great and special effects were incredible.
Also enjoyed the after credit bonus! :>)

I never saw the first Iron Man but I feel you don't need to in order to understand this sequel. Action packed and full of excitement, Iron Man 2 was a thrill to watch. Mickey Rourke was amazing and if their is just one reason to see this movie, it would be because of his acting and his character that he plays. The only thing that I didn't not like was a few things in the ending. But overall I would recommend this movie to anyone.
