Going into the movie, I was bombarded with praise about this film. So granted I was a bit skeptical, but after watching this film, my expectations were more than met.
I thought the movie captured the essence of Mumbai in an educational fashion rather than a negative exploit. The actors were convincing and emotionally captivating. The script was written with precision and kept the viewer entertained.
I highly recommend this movie and hope to see it as a nominee for the Academy Awards.

This was the best movie I have seen in 2008. Everything is great - the cinematography, the soundtrack, the storyline. It's funny, sad, joyful... It's fantastic - I can't wait to see it again. It should certainly win some Academy Awards.

I saw Slumdog Millionaire in Cambride, MA last night. I had heard the movie was great while listenting to the Howard Stern show. The movie's reality of life in the slums of India is truely startling. The film making is terrific and soundtrack makes the movie. The music alone drives feeling and energy that I did not expect. Simply put, its movies like these that question my faith in humanity but at the same time renews my hope for humanity.

This film captured both the good and the bad, and was a movie that was not only faithful to life in this destitute region but also faithful to a portrayal of the good and bad in each of us.
Sometimes it's hard to believe that some are born to be bad, to commit heinous acts regardless of the good company that may surround them. The good and bad brothers in this film belied notions that nurture trumps nature.
By the end of the film I was the beggar, begging that the outcome would be good. Without spoiling the end, all I can say is that I applauded as did the whole theater - that rarely happens these days - but the film was so deserving, such a fine work of art, such a great record of humanity. . .

I would give it four-and-a-half stars, but this system only allows for whole-star ratings. You must see this movie. The cinematography is brilliant (best use of handheld camera filming that I have ever seen). The story has moments of humor, suspense, romance, sadness. It is a truly splendid film. The acting is solid (even among the child actors playing the younger versions of the characters). The mix of contemporary western as well as contemporary and traditional indian music works well. The use of Hindi (both subtitled and at times non-subtitled) also works to good effect. This is one of those rare "Oscar season" films that I truly enjoyed.

Am I the only one who hated this movie? I adore India, spent a lot of time there. After the Mumbai attacks I was looking for a feel good travelogue with beautiful images supporting an implausible love story. Really, I was not up for any more violence. Plus none of the stories were fully told. I loved the soundtrack and highly recommend it. But read the book instead - Q & A: A Novel by Vikas Swarup.

Within its genre as a comedy/dramatic film, the best movie my wife and I have seen during 2008. Should definitely garner some attention at the Oscars.

This is one of the best films I have seen in a long time. It is so beautifully filmed and the story is so fantastic that I felt transported to the gritty street of Mumbai. Don't miss this one on the big screen!

I am pleasantly surprised watching this movie and I must say that I was very pleased. The movie was well directed, well acted by the actors and the cinematography and photos were breath taking and smacks everybody of the stark reality of its existence. Poverty is everywhere and people will search for fortune and love in every which way possible. The bollywood musical in the end was a big treat too. Definitely a great feel-good movie, a good train ride with the three muskeeters in their journey that is life.

From the moment this film begins, you are off on an emotional ride brought to you through expert editing and directing. You witness locations and attitudes that most of us have not experienced. With love being the motivator this film has a message, never give up. Let's hope in February we see filmmaker Danny Boyle on the Academy podium thanking those who made this film possible.
