Disappointing!

Based on critic reviews (my first mistake) decided to see this movie. It was way too slow! Encounters with wolves was infrequent and lacked suspense most of the time. Flashbacks were monotonous and boring after the first couple.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Gina iis an awesome young woman ... impressive physical attributes and a good screen presence. Hope she continues to develop her acting skills ... will give Angelina a run for her money. With her it was a good action-oriented movie, without her it would have been a dud.

Daniel Craig and Harrison Ford ... two great action heroes. What's not to like?! Thoroughly enjoyed this movie. It was fun and exciting. Some critic's reviews are just too harsh. I left the theater with a smile.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Made for TV at best!

Big marketing build-up for a very mediocre, at best, movie. Parts of it were laughable. Special effects / aliens were a Matrix clone. Should have known it was going to be a bomb when it wasn't released to the critics for review.

This would have been much better had they left a 1/3 of the movie on the floor of the film editor. Just too bloated ... the special effects at times were almost laughable in their absurdity. Even the dialog during "dramatic" moments caused me to have the opposite effect of what was intended. It's disappointing that most of the over-hyped movies coming out fall short of living up to the hype. I realize it's all about making money and, yes, I'm sure this movie will make a ton and a good share of the world's population will find it entertaining at a purely sensory level. Wait for the DVD ... then you can break it up into more digestable segments.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Best Sci-Fi in Years!

What a great movie! Thoroughly enjoed every minute ... great story, great characters, great message, and not too long. I thought the "prawns" looked a bit odd, but then again, they're aliens. Seriously, anyone who likes good movies will enjoy District 9. I hope there is a sequel and Christopher comes back in 3 years as promised to make things right!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Kathryn Bigelow did a spectacular job of bringing Mark Boal's story to the big screen. For me, every aspect of the movie was believable even though I struggle to comprehend the incomprensible atrocities that humans inflict on each other.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

If you like Woody Allen and you like Larry David then you'll enjoy this movie. Many funny parts, somewhat slow in the middle, excellent finish.

Piece of Celluloid Trash

What is going on with the writers, producers, directors, and actors??? Why do they keep grinding out these trashy movies. Year One is a complete waste. My wife and I walked out of the movie after watching 30 minutes of complete and utter nonsense. We like Jack Black and really disappointed that he feels he needs to make these types of (worthless) movies just to make a buck.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
