An incredible and fascinating evocation of modern urban life in India, in all its wondrous intensity. It captures the astounding poverty of Mumbai's slums, the desperate and courageous struggle for survival of orphan trash-pickers, the cruelty of beggar-lords and gangsters who prey on the defenseless, and the transcendent, unwavering devotion to love and hope that conquers all obstacles. A miraculous gem of a movie.
A fantastic combination of epic adventure, romance, and a moving tribute to the indigenous people of Australia. Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman are ravishingly entertaining, as always, but the real highlights of the movie are the young "creamy" boy, Nullah, of mixed Aboriginal & Anglo descent, played by Brandon Walters, and his Aboriginal grandfather King George, played by David Gulpilil. Nullah is positively transcendent, and King George is the epitome of an ancient people's wisdom-bearer. A must see for everyone!
