The holiday season movies have not let me down this year. Slumdog millionaire is another great holiday movie. It shows wonderful acting by new actors, and an unforgettable storyline. Could very possibly win Oscar for best motion picture.

In a word, OUTSTANDING. The premise is creative and current. The script is tightly written. The moderately fast pace is engaging. The cinematography is unpretentious and pure. The actors - children and adults - yield to their characters and give generously. There is a message of course. Althouth the message is not subtle, it's also not a smack in the face. And oh what an ending!

Gripping.. The movie is great in every aspect and the story-telling from the director left me speechless.
Apart from a few cliches and a predictable climax the movie stands apart easily from any such drama in a unique way.

During the first part of the movie, I thought I had made a mistake, with all of the horrible things that were happening. As the movie progressed, I got more and more hooked. It tells the story really well. Take the R rating seriously though. I don't think it is appropriate for younger children. I will say that this is one of the best movies I have seen in many years! It's hard to believe in the first half of the movie, but there is a great ending and it really is a feel good movie! If you can only see one movie this year, this is the one to go to.

Here is a relatively biased opinion of a film that I thought was long overdue for Hollywood. As an Indian it always seemed such a shame that there were no really big Indian actors and actresses in the Hollywood scene. This film may well change that given the rave reviews it has received here, amongst the American public and Film critics. All the performances are top notch the acting of the youth being the real standout of this movie. The plot is excellent and keeps you engaged throughout. The only criticism I have is that the ending was kind of 'cheezy' and expected but It will definitely appeal to all those that believe in the American dream. Is it oscar worthy? we'll have to wait and see but the acting performances are just incredible.

We saw "Slumdog Millionaire" last night and can't say enough good things about it. It's about a young man in India who wins at a quiz show and is accused of cheating because they can't imagine how a poor slum kid could possibly know all those facts. Then, in flashbacks about his life of poverty and hardship, it's revealed how he learned each bit of trivia. It deals with Muslim - Hindu relations in India (not so friendly) and about hope and loyalty in the face of despair and corruption. I would recommend it for teens, as in "let's talk about human rights, corruption, poverty, hope, what we have to be thankful for, etc."....

‘Slumdog Millionaire’ has a good story and great acting, especially by the young kids. I do not agree with ‘the best movie ever’ and ‘Oscar contender’ raves however. The movie moved fairly slowly until near the end, but was worth the wait. The stunts and dangerous situations the child actors were subjected to were quite surprising by today’s standards. As long as you don’t go to this movie with over-blown expectations though, I think you will enjoy it.

After reading ALL the reviews about this movie on this page I couldn't ignore it and had to go watch it. It didn't dissapoint it was all and more, great acting, cinematography and story. You get to see that even under the most underprivileged circumstances there are people who still have hope and in search for love with such innocence. I believe this movie is experiencing great word of mouth because the theatre was full . It has been a long time since I've seen people clap at the end of a movie. Took me about 10 minutes to realize what was going on with the film -- before I was hooked! And I stayed hooked through the end.

The director has a subtle eye for detail and shows but doesn't dwell on the poverty where many work to simply survive. He directs the children well and that makes the movie magical. As adults, the main characters have changed, and so do the circumstances. The stakes are higher, and the hero's naivete is his salvation. A story of the strength of spirit over nearly insurmountable odds. Worth watching in a theatre, where the large screen really adds dimension and scope, immersing the viewer in a way no home theatre can.

This film was very good. All of the actors (nearly all of them unknown to me prior to this) were excellent. The acting is very good, and the choppy chronology helps the story unfold in an interesting way. I might even have to go see this one again while it's in theatres.

This is a remarkable film, and departure, for Danny Boyle. Boyle makes a social commentary about the underworld of urban Indian poverty in the context of a story about brotherhood and fighting for your true love. Brilliant. For those who see and enjoy this movie and want to see an underappreciated film check out "Sunlight."

Fresh film making, edgy awesome acting, real, no BS . this is well acted , great directing, wow what an interesting story. I want to take every I know to see this fabulous film. This should win an Oscar, but who cares if it doesn't . It still is one of the best films I have ever seen, EVER!

One of the best movies i've seen in years! great story telling, cinematography, terrific acting, writing, the musical score and directing. this movie's got everything. This movie is the reason why we go to movies in the first place. It's not an easy movie to watch but give it a chance because the movie will move you. and the ending will have you clapping and dancing in the aisle as well!

A story cleverly written and executed, but I think I would have watched this one in silent mode and still enjoyed it simply because of the breath-taking images.
