In a word, OUTSTANDING. The premise is creative and current. The script is tightly written. The moderately fast pace is engaging. The cinematography is unpretentious and pure. The actors - children and adults - yield to their characters and give generously. There is a message of course. Althouth the message is not subtle, it's also not a smack in the face. And oh what an ending!
Go see this movie, and bring someone you love as your guest.
If it's entertainment you want, it's entertainment you'll get with this movie. Don't look for anything deep. Don't expect any "ah-hah" moments. And don't expect to be hammered by any particular agenda. Don't even expect it to make sense. But by all means, expect to have fun.
Will Smith is at first off-putting but funny as the reluctant superhero, and then warm and sympathethic as the near mortal defender of life and love.
Charlize Theron is deceptive and clever, bringing new meaning to what it is to be a suburban super wife and mom... including abundant cleavage displays.
Jason Bateman is simply flawless as the hapless do-gooder dad and husband. The importance of having a vision, purpose and commitment pokes awkwardly through the wackiness of his mission in life.
