The movie has everything! The directing, the acting, the music - all top notch, excellent. So glad I watched this file in a theatre rather than at home on a dvd - it is deserving of every award. Some of it was difficult to watch but all in context of a beautiful, compelling film.

What I really enjoyed about this movie is about following your dreams don't give up for nothing. I found this movie riveting, emotional, and inspiring. While I found the movie ended a little to "fairy tale", I'd say the film was pitch perfect for a good 3/4 of the way through and after all the characters had to go through to just survive, forget be happy, I was pleased that people received their just desserts in the end.

Having worked in Mumbai for the past few years, I was amazed at how accurately this movie captured the visceral look and feel of Mumbai. The actors (young and older) did a fabulous job of portraying the unique aspects of what it is like to live and work in India.
Using the game show as a tool for revealing the experiences of the main character was creative, but potential viewers shouldn't be off put - this movie is not about a game show!
Go and see it at your first possible opportunity!

Having seen a great deal of poverty throughout the world, I was not shocked by the conditions shown in Mumbai. The story unfolded in a believable and sometimes predictable manner, although too violent at times for my taste. Be prepared to cover your eyes during a couple of particularly gruesome scenes. Still, I left with a feeling of hope, and am very glad to have seen this movie. I now understand why it was the darling at the Golden Globes.

A movie-lover's movie that brings out every emotion in you. The cinematography is excellent. You are involved in the story the whole time. Haven't seen a movie in months; nothing really compelling, like watching made-for-tv on the big screen. In THIS movie you connect with the character. You don't necessarily identify with them, you are there with them in all of their emotions. Some events are disturbing, but nothing excessive. It's a slice of one boy's life in a very large country. Terrific movie.

This movie restored my faith in film's story-telling abilities. Fantastic story-line with excellent direction by Boyle. In much his style, Boyle explores the truth about life, both sorrow and joy. I laughed, cried, had my heart wrenched out and in the end, was left with the feeling that things in life generally work out for the best for those who believe in the best. A very good movie which kept us both enthralled till the end. The film gives a scary insight into what life was like in the slums of India. One hopes it was exaggerated for cinematic effect and no longer represents the true India. The message that you don't have to be a genius to handle these TV quiz's is well taken. It is easy to see why this movie caputred the Golden Globe award. It is action packed, suspensful and keeps the viewer on the edge of their seat. I would highly recommend this movie to anyone wanting a truly entertaining experience.

I happen to go to India regularly so the harsher views were no surprise the way it may have been to others. But this is a wonderful movie, well directed, and very well played by these children who essentially make the movie. it shows a new and upcoming India and that is exciting too. Great music, great optimism and great overall entertainment. Enjoy this great movie.

I just noticed they have this movie's genre listed as a comedy. It's actually very disturbing in some parts. I thought the story was very original and the performances were wonderful. The Indian accents are hard to understand in some parts. I highly reccomend it!
