special effects, although fantastic, did not give you the feeling that people were dying. The CGI makes it too unreal and the close calls were getting ridiculous. If the movie were only the effects I'd give it an A. But THAT STORY, ugh! An 8 year old could have come up with something more real

This movie not only failed to live up to the massive hype and the roughly $260 million budget, but the sequence of events was simply unbelievable (even when you already know you have to suspend your disbelief for it). That being said, the special effects are AMAZING and are worth watching. Overall, this movie is about an hour longer than it should be and is nowhere near as good as Independence Day or The Day After Tomorrow, but still a decent weekend flick.

I would definitely recommend this movie to a friend, but only if they were interested in amazing special effects. That's really the only good aspect of this movie. The acting is slightly better than mediocre, and the plot is somewhat cheesy. However, being a person who loves good special effects, and doomsday movies, I would say it's worth the price of admission to watch the world get destroyed.

The movie was incredible. The special effects were beyond belief. It really helped me confirm what I believe we all deep down inside already know, which is regardless of how the world ends as we know it, we are living in those times and we all need to wake up and realize that we are just mere humans and that now is the time to start acknowledging, more than ever, our Creator. I do know one thing though and that is that the world will definitely not end through a flood again, because that was promised to us over 5,000 years ago by our Creator in the rainbow. Everytime you see a rainbow, remember that promise. I guess the question is, How will the world end? The Good News is that when it does, that is just the beginning of a new One.

About the best acting in the movie is John Cusack and the black scientist..

I really liked the movie. Lots of action and effects. Makes you think about what one would do if what is predicted happens. Of course another Hollywood movie to entertain. The limo he drives its tires never get a flat, the plane flies faster then gravity from falling buildings. It was fun to watch. I would recommend it to anyone who wants some excitement.

Overall, this movie was pretty good. The story line wasn't good but the special effects and comedic spots more than made up for this problem. Some fun as thrill ride, but most of this far-too-long movie is contrived and not believable. I laughed frequently at ridiculous dialogue and plot points. Like the formulaic chase scenes where our protagonists were continually just out of reach of advancing elements of natural disasters. The premise is actually interesting, but come on... with this kind of money, couldn't they deliver a decent script? Then again, maybe this is exactly what the mainstream movie audience wants, in which case I have to roll my eyes over our fast-food culture.

When I saw the previews for this movie, I knew I wanted to see it on the big screen, and boy was I right!! I would have been so bummed to have waited. The effects where awesome, they totally blow away all the other movies, like Day After Tommorrow and the like. It truely was awesome to see. I would have liked a bit more story put into it, but it was still there. Like the Day After Tommorrow, its about hope, survival, and the human spirit to endure great moments. I plan on going back to see it with my family soon. Don't miss this one!!!

I had been excited to see this movie for months and I was sadly disappointed. The special effects were great and the the acting was pretty good - but the story was very weak. I would say that this is one of those movies that you should wait to come out on video. If you liked movies like Armageddon, then this movie is for you. This movie was ridiculous, however, It was fun to watch. The story line was extremely cheesy. The action scenes were awesome and I loved all of the special effects. At times this requires a great effort to suspend disbelief. There is no way a limousine can maneuver through a crumbling parking garage and fly out the other end unharmed. That is ridiculous. But, come on, it's a movie. I would recommend this movie to my friends and to anyone who enjoys action movies and does not mind corny dialogue. I enjoyed watching this movie and also making fun of it afterwards. Definitely watch it in the movie theatre for all the awesome special effects.

Great effects, suspensful moments, same end of the world plot;
However shouldn't every end of the world movie have a family we are all cheering for? I thought cusack and Peet did a good job and God love Woody Harrelson. Excellent special effects. Cusak did an excellent job in this film.
But, I sincerely doubt the magnetic field will shift that quickly. It would take thousands of years for that to happen. Also, I doubt that 2012 is the end of the world. It's just the dawning of the new age.
Only God knows when the world will come to an end.
