This movie is not just good. It's great; a brilliant example of the filmmaker's art -- it will be cherished in the years to come. "This is an instant classic". The story is moving, exciting, instantly involving, and has such wonderful, touching, and witty dialogue. You wish all movies were this good.
This movie has my vote to sweep ALL the major Oscars this year. Yes - I'm telling you - it IS that good!
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This movie had Great special effects ... but THAT'S IT. THE PARTS INVOLVING ACTORS WERE TOTALLY BORING. CHARACTERS WERE CLICHES... we've seen them all before! Too bad the producer/director didn't hire a good script writer!! So you'll be entertained by the special effects & bored silly by the "people parts." What a shame - what a waste of some really fine actors! If you see this - ONLY GO FOR THE SPECIAL EFFECTS.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Disappointing! Save your money!

Film is spectacular but cold & often drags, with surprisingly limp performance by Jim Carrey. Static moments are punctuated by wild 3D 'rides' where Scrooge & ghost will go zooming thru London. Interiors are drab & dark. Animation sometimes falls into the "uncanny valley". Director employs super photo-realism - end result is CGI actors that sometimes creep you out. Ex: Scrooge has a skeletal body & it comes off as weird. Reach for 1870s Realism often results in faces with blemishes, zits & rotting teeth! In closeups you see every single pore on Scrooge's face, including hair on his nose. Lastly, it was a bad idea to have Jim Carrey doing the voices of 8 characters; there's blandness to important characters' voices throughout this film.
No, I do not recommend this movie.
