This was by far one of the most beautiful films I have seen this year. Baz Luhrman really delivers it all: a picteresque setting in the Northern territory of Australia, well-crafted actors and actresses (who doesn't adore Nicole Kidman and Hugh Jackman) note: it isn't only the leads that are unforgettably amazing, a WONDERFUL musical score, and a setting that ties in an old love for Western Film with the modern day love for WWII depictions. Baz has not let his audiences down as this movie only further shows his talent as a director, and his geniune love for film. The movie was intense, emotional, and just an adventure to take home. Just go see it and decide for yourself just what you can take away from Australia.

I loved this movie. The beauty and romance the sadness all worked. I expected nothing due to reading critic reviews. I am not a fan of romance movies or books but this movie was the exception. The young boy had never acted before and was a delight to watch.

I really enjoyed this movie. The story line was interesting. The Australia visual, especially the sky shots were beautiful. It was true to the era regarding how people lived and were treated. My only "Con" was it was too long - 2hrs, 45min.

This movie had everything I wanted in a movie. . .great acting, great cinematography, great directing, great script, great music. I hesitated to go when it was 2 hr. and 45 min. long. . .I don’t do long shows, but the action never stopped and the time flew by. I have been to 1 hr. and 30 min. shows that seemed far longer than this one! It met my expectations for an afternoon well spent at the theater.

It was okay as it was really an old fashined western type. Boy meets girl, boy loses girl, etc.
It was predicatable and not anyhting that would involve brain matter. So sit back , realx, and enjoy what they used to call an epic. Lots of folks in it and long but not a great moving stroy.

What a waste of talent!!! It was extremely hard not to laugh out loud at some of the slow motion, been done before, perdictable scenes in this sinking battleship of a movie. I truly enjoyed this movie. The acting was great!!! There was plenty of action, romance and very emotional. The portrayal of Australia's aboriginal people was authentic and probably new to Americans who have never visited Australia. The scenery was awesome. Academy award quality!!!

I had very high expectations for an epic story and overall this movie didn't live up to them. Not much of a storyline, and you can always guess the next thing that is going to happen. Good action and lovely cinematography but too long and over-acted, someone else said like a soap opera and I agree. I actually giggled at stuff that was supposed to be serious. But it wasn't a terrible way to spend a few hours either so I gave it 3 stars - average.

It's nice to get away from all those action movies with stupid villains and 20 minute chase scenes. This movie was a nice break. Having seen 'Moulin Rouge!' quite a few times, I expected this film to be of the same caliber, but was proven wrong. 'Australia' has it all: beautiful scenery, wonderful acting, romance, humor, and suspense with a little history thrown in. While Nicole Kidman may have seemed boring to some, her character was meant to be a little stuffy. Portraying someone from the English upper class, I think she was wonderful. David Wenham was fantastic...I hated him. ;) Hugh Jackman was great, as always. Like epic tales? See this one!

Just the quality of the movie was incredible, the camera shots were breath-taking. It shows the harsh reality of what went on Down Under during WWII. It has comedy, romance, action and more. I am of Australian heritage, so it was neat for me to hear the familiar lingo and see the stories put into a movie. The boy that plays Nella did a great job, he was so captivating. The movie was very well made, and I recommend it to everybody.

Usually I automatically class all of Baz Luhrmans pieces as perfect but Australia was the one exception. The worst part about the film was Nicole Kidma. I am usually a huge fan of Nicole but it just seemed as though she was trying too hard. Hugh Jackman was perfect for the role. The best character and actor in the movie was the little aboriginal boy Nullah. The actual shooting of the film and the scenery was breathtaking, it was just sloppy in some parts.

With the predictable drama of an overproduced hollywood story, this film gave me every opportunity to dislike it for being too long, too naive and much too melodramitically safe. But in the end I was rewarded with an appreciation of this film as a solid hollywood product. The beginning was very Casa Blanca. The beauty of the special effects was Cool. Nicole was a little over the top, but Hugh, the Little Boy, and Flectcher were just Great. The story line was done well and the Heart of the Movie was filled with suspense and a certian anticipated relief. The historic revelance was betrayed quite well and the joy of the final scene was just what you would want to see. It is a shame that some people don't see the movie for what it really was. Pure Entertainment with no lapses of bordom. Wonderful movie for those who like to see a beautiful story.

This is a long and boring movie. I sat there wondering when this would ever end. I went with other friends whom I thought were enjoying this flick which turned out they wanted to leave as well. We are middle aged and chose a movie by critics review. Never again. We decided to see TWILIGHT Thanksgiving night. The reviews were not as good so we went in to the movie with a open mind to judge for our own. Well we were entertained. Only one of us had read the Twilight series and I found myself intriqued with the vampire story. I am going to read these books and for now never read critics review. Australia is the movie that actually Sucked......

Although Nicole Kidman isn't my choice for the lead and in the beginning of the movie you'll see why, it's still a good movie. The boy called "Creamy" by the worst of them is amazing. He is the glue that binds the film together. Hugh Jackman finally becomes the Leading Man he always was touted to be. The cinematography is spectacular, but some of the effects are spotty. A high budget film with several inconsistency, but still a good film.
