It is the story of two people and how they grow up and have children and have careers and deal with life. But woven through this story is an out-of-control loving Labrador that ties and binds them all together. You would have to not have had a Labrador and not love dogs to be disappointed in this film. The dog passing on is a note on life itself.
Although Nicole Kidman isn't my choice for the lead and in the beginning of the movie you'll see why, it's still a good movie. The boy called "Creamy" by the worst of them is amazing. He is the glue that binds the film together. Hugh Jackman finally becomes the Leading Man he always was touted to be. The cinematography is spectacular, but some of the effects are spotty. A high budget film with several inconsistency, but still a good film.
