This is all that the movie industry needs to do to combat piracy. Just do this level of artistic work and put it on IMAX and we will pay!!!
Out of so many crap movies out there, this was absolutely fantastic. I don't know if was just watching it in IMAX because I haven't seen it any other way yet, but the humanization of all the villians and the psychology of each really made a believable setting which left me feeling like I was in Gotham even when I got out of my car in my parking garage at home.
Also, the CG effects were amazing! I think it helps to be in a dark environment for the rendering but when the semi flipped over, I flipped over. When they yanked batman out of the building on a tow rope, I was yanked out of the building on a tow rope!
All this combined with Heath Ledgers quirky interpretation of the Joker was awesome!

The BEST movie of 2008 by far! The only way to see this movie is in the truely emersive IMAX. Action from opening scene to closing credits. Christian Bale is fantastic as ever even if the 'Bat-Voice' got on my nerves just a little. Heath Ledger was creepily amazing as the lip-licking psycopath Joker (looks great in a dress!). But one warning-don't take your little kids-the title tells you DARK and that is what it is-in the best way possible. Wonderful score that really brings you into the story. GO SEE THIS MOVIE-you won't be sorry.

When going into this movie, I tried not to let the critics' opinions effect how I would view it. This is possibly the first time, ever, that I have 100% agreed with critics' overall opinion of a film. Christian Bale was in perfect form, Aaron Eckhardt was believable, and Heath Ledger's performance as The Joker made me speechless. I do believe that Hollywood sometimes makes a "God" out of the deceased, but all the hype about Ledger's performance was well-deserved. There is something wrong with the world if he at least doesn't get an Oscar nod.

It has been a long time since I really enjoyed a movie. One of the things I liked the most was the stunts. They were well executed, and execept for a few things the batmobile did, probably doable in the real world. I heard the movie was made in Imax, and seeing it in a Imax theatre was great. Only downfall was the 2 or 3 times that the screen was going to black, I thought that was the ending, and they moved to another scene. Kinda nice to see a movie over 2 hours long these days!!!

Fantastic piece of entertainment, Ledger's performance would have made him a superstar, and Nolan's vision for the movie puts him at the forefront of all these new directors. Amazing characters, script and acting. Ledgers Joker is terrifying and compelling. Bale IS Batman. Seemed like three movies rolled into one- in a good way! Every time, it resolved a plot point only to introduce a new one- I was relieved it wasn't over. I'm anxiously awaiting the next one.

This was a good movie. It had some unique twists and kept me interested throughout the two and half hours.
I would recommend this movie to anyone. Those who haven't seen a Batman movie yet to a lifelong fan. This movie has many levels for everyone to enjoy this film.
I don't know if I would completely recommend the IMAX Experience however. IMAX only offered a few select scenes in the full IMAX view, most of the movie was seen in the traditional widescreen format. The scenes in IMAX were good, it was just annoying when it would flip back and forth.
Overall it was a solid movie with a great cast and is worth the money spent to see it.

I Saw The IMAX Batman The Dark Knight yesterday, and all i have to say is that its going to go down as one of the biggest movies ever. What a truly great film.5 out of 5! The Video/ audio,awesome. All the actors held it down! I thought a emotional connection was made at the end of the film, in credits, when a text appears on screen saying "In Loving Memory Of Heath Ledger" . When that appeared the whole sold out audience ,applauded then turned to each other to discuss what we just saw, finally realizing that we would never see Heath in another flim, like this and what a performance. This is a visually stunning movie with many good 'jump' moments and a wonderful cast. While I felt that the mob storyline was a bit weak and ultimitely unneeded, the rest of the story was very good and well executed. Bale strongly returns as Batman, however he was far outshined by Ledger's Joker portrayal. By far, the greatest performance I have ever enjoyed, Ledger's Joker has exceeded any expectation I had, and I feel that he has raised the bar for acting expectations in future Batman villians. I would recommend this movie to everyone, including those completely uninterested in Batman, if only to see The Joker.

I must start off with the bad. Well the only bad I should say, which is batman. Not Christian Bale playing batman or the suit or anything like that, just for the first batman movie without batman in its title, they really didn't show enough batman. The movie felt more about harvey dent and the joker than it did about the super hero in the movie saving gothem. Besides that, the movie was increadible. Heath Ledger is creepy, perfect, and took on the darker side of joker to match it with intelligence and still comical. Maggie G was better by far than katy h but still, that role doesn't really have much you can do with it. The grain, the sounds, the effects, and the lighting were pitch perfect for what it should have been. Totally give it a go see immediatly. It is not shattering records for no reason.

I saw The Dark Knight at an IMAX Theater and Harkins. The difference is minimal but not worth the extra $5. There is a great amount of action but not as much as Batman Begins. This movie is 5 stars because it is better than Batman Begins and they keep you guessing the whole way through. Although Batman Begins finally gave Batman that dark persona, The Dark Knight made him even darker. Batman Begins has more action and fighting but The Dark Knight had a large amount of action scenes with Batman. It was an amazing performance by all characters with a great script and decent effects. There is absolutely nothing to keep this movie from a perfect rating. The only thing that disappointed me was that I wanted more Two Face action but having his back-story gives you a more emotional attachment to the villain. Thank you for not being completely Hollywood (Tim Burton & Joel Schumacher) by giving us a superhero who is "comic" realistic and villains who we fear due to their portrayal of insanity.

Beyond the usual impressive performance of Christian Bale, Heath Ledger's interpretation of the Joker was super-phenomenal. There were moments throughout the film that I expected to recognize him, but he definitely became the Joker. I enjoyed the Dark Knight perspective, which is essentially why I enjoyed the second batman movie (with Michael Keaton) - there was the old school movie before that... Nonetheless, it was great to see a graphic novel translated to screen in such detail. I actually appreciated the replacement of Katie Holmes. It was appropriate. Finally, Two-Face...... what can I say. I cannot wait for another batman movie!!

I went to this with a few friends and their kids ranging from 11yrs old to 43yrs old. I hate reading, even if it is something with as few words as a comic book – so I might not be the best person to rate this movie based on story line and if it falls in line with the comics – so take this review for what it is…"The average movie watchers take". The first thing you should know is that you will feel like you MORE than got your monies worth with the 2 ½ of viewing time. (Bring a Snikers because your 'not going anywhere for a while') Secondly, the effects and action in the movie are more then enough to keep anyone’s attention (whether you are a DC comic fan or not). The story line was good and Heath really shines as the Joker. My friend said ‘It is almost like he knew it was going to be his last role.” It is truly a defining moment for him displaying his incredible talent as an actor. You realize how much the world is going to miss his amazing talent. Needless to say everyone there enjoyed the movie. From the standpoint of the ‘average movie watcher’ (and I am probably in the minority on this one) I enjoyed Batman Begins a lot more than The Dark Knight – but I believe this is a worthy follow up.

The actors commit so fully to the characters, we forget we are watching a comic book brought to life. This is no tongue in cheek action hero movie with Batman and his boy wonder sidekick. This Batman is more akin to Iron Man than Hellboy or Hancock, and as such, will get a huge female audience. Of course, the Joker is the focus of this movie and I can only second the opinion of other reviewers. He is absolutely the best villain in a Batman movie to date.
