I realize that as a movie, it's supposed to be able to stand on it's own... but this does not. There are elements that weren't explained that left my friend who hadn't read the book wondering and asking me all sorts of questions. The acting was just plain horrible. They were obviously picked on looks alone and talent was not required. I laughed and cringed the entire movie. It was a fun experience, going to a midnight movie and making fun of it the whole time, but it wasn't a good movie.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

Lots of scenes in this movie were very awkward. The conversations in the book were also awkward but not as bad. Even though there were lots of awkward scenes, the movie was still very good and I will see it again and definitely buy it when i comes out. This was a good movie and it got all the most important emotions across and the overall feel was of the book was in the movie. Good movie.

I've now seen the movie twice. Dorky, I know. I enjoyed it much more the second time than I did the first. I think that summit did an excellent job of transferring the book to the movie. I thought that they could have made it a little longer and added some more, but on the whole it was very well done. There was nothing that I felt was overly corny, especially the sparkling effects, which I was worried about. I'm very happy that they did so well, and look forward to seeing the other books!

We had a total of 3 adults & 6 12-year olds. We all loved it! Read the book 1st so you can enjoy the movie more because you feel as you are watching the movie that you know a secret...it's because you know what Bella doesn't know. You can't help but scream when Edward & Carlisle appear because there was suspense. All the characters were played just as in the book. We laughed, screamed, & cheered. You knew who read the book in the different area's of the theater because of the different spontaneous reactions. Great till the end, good music too! The director did a great job putting together the story line with so much information given in the book. This is a 5-star movie. Can't wait for the sequel! Enjoy!!!

i was super excited to see twilight, but at first, i was worried that the movie was not gonna be as great, and i was gonna be disappointed. but i was not. it was awsome!!!!! i loved it, i loved. i totally recomend this movies for everybody to watch. whether you have read the book or not, you will love it. all the actors did an amzing job. yeah, they did leave out a bunch of important scenes, but it was still great!!!! (ps. carlisle was the hottest vanpire ever, and billy and charlie are so funny)
I can't wait for them to make a movie for new moon too.

Often I find when I see movies that have been adapted from some of my favorite books, I am disappointed that many things that I think are important are missing. However, I was not disappointed in this movie adaption of Twilight. It keeps to the story and gives you a taste of what the characters are really like. Some say that Twilight fans might be disappointed in things being left out. I feel that fans will love it and what was left out will make those who have not read Twilight go and read it.
In a nutshell, the movie was the black and white version of Twilight. If you want the full digital color version, you'll have to read the book. It's a great story either way, and Hardwicke did a good job working with what she had.

This movie was better than i expected it to be and i definitely approve of it ! There were some cheesy parts but thats not a big deal. You MUST read the book before you see it ! there are parts that are left out and things left not fully explained in the movie so if youve read the book then you know the whole background & whats happening. If you dont read it, it wont be as enjoyable & u might be lost at parts. Overall i was very happy with it :)

LOVE LOVE LOVE the books!!!!! but i have to say i only LIKED the movie....it moved way tooo fast. The casting of Edward and Bella was great...they had great chemstry! However, everyone else was blah. I was a lil disappointed! You really have to read the book first inorder to trully understand the movie.

ok so this movie took a humorous turn that i wasnt expecting. i have read the books so i knew what would happen but it seemed as though they wanted to make it more hip with the words chosen. and i would also say that you need to read the book first, because then you can fill in the parts that they skipped over. i was laughing quite hard during this movie and although they didnt cover some of my more favorite parts of the book it had the same twilight effect.

The movie was a lot of fun! I liked the dark look and dry humor. I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED Edward and Bella. They were amazing together(the chemistry and their overall "look" was just what I pictured). The rest of the cast was great too, especially Charlie and James. Wish it could have been longer, it must of been hard to condense this amazing novel. Oh, and the scenary was stunning!! Can't wait for the next one. I know they'll just get better and better.

as a die hard twilight fan i was beyond disappointed to find that this movie was basically a cheap teen flick. The special effects were anything but special, the portrayal of the characters was all wrong (edward acted like a meth addict instead of the smooth, charming vampire in the story), and overall it was a bore. Plus they did not follow the sequence of events in the book. SO DISAPPOINTING

If you haven't read the book beforehand, you probably won't understand a lot of what's going on until later on in the movie. To me, the movie was more of an overall summary of the book, and lacked a lot of plot and character development. Not that it was bad! I think they did a pretty good job, and the characters were cast very well. Just be prepared, and don't expect every juicy detail of the book to show up in the movie.

While a huge fan of the book series, I thought that the film did not live up to all the hype. The actors, while I'm sure wonderful in their own right, did not become the characters they were portraying. It was hard to get drawn into the film, and sometimes it felt like pure torture to watch it. All in all, I'd take reading the book over sitting through another showing of the movie.

This movie is so good. You don't need to have read the books to understand the movie. It's clear and action packed. The chemistry and intensity on the screen hits you in your seat. Don't believe the ratings by the old men in the paper. This movie is an A+. It's a classic love story with a twist. I've gone to see it twice and plan to go even more. It's a great movie and I definitely recommend it to anyone!

Wow! I thought the movie was great! It has made me want to read the series all over again. I do hope they will be making the rest of the twilight saga into movies. Awesome job casting. The characters were played perfect, true to the book. Yes I agree, it did move a little fast, but that is understandable. Nice cameo of Stephenie in the diner. Loved it!

If you havent already seen the movie get up off ur butt and see it. it def helps if u have read the book before. of course the movie is not better than the book but the movie was frickin hilarious, some parts were different or not shown at all and if u read the book ud know but all the characters were hott and the action was good and the romance was awesome. 2 thumbs up!

I was/am very happy with this movie. For those that are obsessed (me), you will be satisfied. It stuck fairly close to the book. There are some scenes that were condensed or added but it was done in a way that still made sense. There are ALOT of funny jokes/comments that i think made it even better. The only issues i had with the movie was that it moved fast, now granted there was a lot of material to cover so?, and there were some cheesy lines/scenes. Overall it was awesome. I have scene it twice today and will be going again this weekend. I can't wait for New Moon.

I feared that the movie version would ruin the vivid imagery of the novel (like some Harry Potter films) in their lack of film time, but this movie was amazing. The director did a wonderful job in her choice of scenes to include, and the action and special effects were realistic. Excluding myself, my whole group did not read the book and were not very interested in the idea of the movie at first. But they all loved the movie and want to watch it again. My mom who is 50 and skeptical about vampire love stories also found herself a new fan of Twilight after the movie ended. It left her saying, "It's over already?!" And please note that it is a 2 hour movie xD.

I saw it last night, and honestly it was amazing. I loved every single second of it. It definately satisfied my longing to see the movie. I was holding onto my seat the entire time. Now I have to admit that there was an aspect that I didn't like. The fact that it moved too fast, it skipped over entire chapters, and added extra parts that were not in the book. But overall, I loved it. Rob and Kristen were amazing as Edward and Bella. However, people who are not familiar with the story, did not quite comprehend the extreme emotions running through the audience.

after having read the twilight saga, i was expecting the movie to be just as good. the plot moved very quickly, so people who havent read twilight would most likely be lost. it was a bit cheesy and slow at parts, but the ending saved it. in the end, because its edward and bella, i liked it.

Robert Patinson's acting (or lack thereof) single handedly destroyed what ought to have been a good movie. Having read the book I was not only unhappy with some of the liberties the director took but also with how poorly this film was cast. Many of the actors were just downright awful, and the hopeless special effects (the "sparkling" Edward Cullen looks an awful lot like a frosted mini wheat...) were repulsive. Don't waste your time being disappointed by this. It isn't worth the price of admission.

I work at Barnes & Noble so I have been quite familair with the series for a while, yet I'm in university and have yet to read any of the books. I went to the film premier and I was falling asleep before it started, and then it began and I was consumed & entranced. I left not wanting it to be over, and ready and awake to see it again. Today I went to work and bought the Twilight Collection box set and the film soundtrack. I have made the transformation and am now truly and proudly in love with Twilight, I cannot wait to read and go along for the ride. I certainly hope there will be film sequels.AMAZING.

This movie was without a shadow of a doubt one of the best I've seen. I am parshell because of my love for the book and Stephanie Meyer but for real...it was amazing.
It did leave out a lot of things from the book...well, not so much leave out but they didn't elaborate. However, that can be expected when making a book into a movie.
All in all I would totally go ee it again. Actually, I'm going Sunday! Totally worth the money I spent. I can't wait for New Moon to be made into a movie!!!
P.S. GO TEAM EDWARD!!! WOOHOO

This was an amazing movie! My friend is obsessed with the books and so I went to the show with her. She explained the general plot line to me before the movie, so I had an idea of what was going on. Just saw the movie. I was not disappointed, it was very good. They picked the perfect actors for the movie. Edward, Edward Edward, whew!!!
They condensed quite a bit of the book to fit it in the movie, but they did a very good job. Love how they portrayed Bellas Dad. Will be watching this again and again. Cannot wait til they make movies for books 2, 3 & 4.
