My wife read all the books and has been looking forward to this movie since she heard about it. Amid the packed theater of teenage girls we sat last night. The whooohooo of the girls was blasting at the opening credits and first images of some of the main characters.
However once the swooning stopped I settled in to watch a very well played out storyline that left me wanting to see a sequel.
The actors faced difficult roles in trying not to go over the top with bad acting as some vampire movies have in the past. However I feel that it was well acted and the pace of the film moved forward throughout.
I don't know if I would take the time to read the books, but I will definitely take time to see the movies.

I read the books and saw Twilight last night and I thought the movie was amazing. It was true to the book and keeps you interested just like the book. I loved the whole movie but one of my fave parts was the prom secen. The end of the movie keeps you wanting more just like the books!!!

Everything that I read in the book was in there, however I foresee a sequal in the future. All the characters were dead on from the descriptions in the book. I arrived at the theater 1hr and 15 min early ( I bought the tickets 2-3 wks in advance) and the showing that I was going to see had already sold out. I now see why. The movie was as exciting as the book. A must see, if you have not already seen it!!!

I took my family to see the movie, my daughter had read the book in 4 days or so. I think that this movie is the best vampire movie I have seen thus far. I felt that the characters did an awesome job. Oddly enough, Bella, was one of my favorites characters. I felt she was very observant, and although she knew what Edward was, she was not afraid of him, nor what he can do. She believed in him to the point where she eventually€ wanted to be just like him; to spend eternal life with him. What a great movie. (although, I did not read the book first, I still got the movie!!)

I thought they did a really great job with this movie. I thought they stuck to the book pretty well, there were lots of lines straight from the book, and while some of the events happened out of order it didn't do anything to change the overall plot.
I thought that Kristen Stewart did a great job. When reading the book you really got the impression of how much they loved each other, but how she's still an awkward teenager, and that came through in the movie.
I heard a lot of complaining at the end of the movie, but I disagree. I think it was well done and very true to the book!

This is one of the worst movies I have seen at the theatre.
My fiance have both read the book and neither of us enjoyed this film. The acting is terrible. The movie just goes from plot point to plot point with no real development. Everything is just "told" to you by the narrator.
I feel that a much better approach could have been taken to this material. I did not think the book was amazing, but it's an enjoyable read. I felt the novel would translate better on screen.
You never really feel the angst or tension. It feels like something you'd see on Lifetime or the Disney channel.
The creative team behind this film just didn't really care enough to put effort into this.

Maybe it was the theatre filled with 13 year olds that squealed during scenes involving a kiss. Although I really liked the movie and loved the book, there were just somethings that made roll my eyes. Peter Facinelli is wearing so much white makeup he looks like a male Cruella DeVille. Robert Pattinson, the newest hearthrob of prepubescent girls everywhere and the reason for 983 pages of Facebook Flair, is wearing more lipstick than me. And the scenes featuring Edward carrying Bella on his back through the woods just looked silly. All that said, the rest of the movie was surprisingly good for someone who's a fan of the books, if i could just get past those little eye-rolling moments.

This movie, was exhilarating. all of the Cullens were perfect, just the way i pictured them in the books. But ii do recomend you read twilight before the movie, it just adds a little more excitement! But you do not want to miss the movie! It was the best love story, it was just sooo good. But definitly get to the theatrers idleast 45 minutes early, i went last night and there was a huge line and i was there 30 minutes early! This movie is great for anymore 11 or older! hope you like the movie, i know you will!!!!!!

I think this was a great movie. It had a lot of the information of the book in it. It won't play exactly like the book, but that is to be expected.
I think that Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson did an excellent job in their roles.
I really hope they do movies for the other books.
I have read all the books and I think the 1st and 4th books are the best.

I saw it yesterday and now I already have plans to see it tomorrow :) Thats how good it was. I would reccomend reading the book first though; because if you hadn't read it, I could see how the movie would seem a bit disappointing. It was, without a doubt, the funniest movie I have ever seen. Robert Pattinson makes the best faces I've ever seen. Kristen Stewart's hospital freak-out scene was hilarious. Also the part where she looked like she was seizing. Cam should've been shirtless more often. Carlisle's skin and hair did not match at all. He looked like a creepster. Speaking of creepsters, ROBERT PATTINSON TAKES THE GOLD. Jasper constantly had a constipated looked on his face. Alice and Emmett were the only two characters I enjoyed. Esme looked like a transvestite, Rosalie is the ugliest blond ever, and Jacob needs to get rid of the wig. So overall... BRING ON NEW MOON. [Hardly any Robert Pattinson & loads of hot, half-naked, short-haired Taylor Lautner!!]

Twilight was a good movie but I was mad that they didn't stick to the book sa much as they should have and like thay said they would but nooooo they added a stupid field trip that really made no sense *spoiler alert for those of u who haven't seen it yet* and they didn't even go to seattle and when thay were talking about how he was a vampire they weren't in the car like thay were supposed to be and she wasn't supposed to go into the book store and thay weren't supposed to touch in the car they were supposed to touch in science class and in the resturant they were supposed to be exluded in the back of the resturant. GRR It makes me mad because they said they were going to stick to the book as much as possib;e but they didn't!

I am one of those mom's who the critics said would love this book. As to the movie though I feel the movie fell slightly short of expectation. Over all I was pleased that they stayed true to the book. My disappointment though lie in the speed of the movie. It seemed each event went by so fast you never are able to get involved with the moments, which is the heart of the book. I hope that as sequels are made they will give more attention to that to help us SEE the relationships build. Visual effects are great, and the characters were perfect choices for their roles. I hope they see we DO want more and are willing to sit longer and pay more to have this movie done on a Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings scale.

Never before have a read a series of books where the movie was exceptional. Total work of art that depicts the charactors exactly as you know them from the written word. The actors that play Bella and Edward in the movie could not have played the part any better. Their personalities match the story so exact it's uncanny. Excellent, excellent, excellent. I cannot wait for the next chapter on film. 5 stars times two !!

I was anxious for this movie like many who have read the series. I thought the angst between Bella and Edward didn't really materialize. Lack of chemistry between the two actors possibly. I laughed in places I wasn't expecting. Overall, I think there were too many characters and not enough time to develop them on screen. But for what it's worth, I would recommend it for the comparison between the book and the screenplay. My friends thought it was corny overall. I thought it was just okay.

Book turned movie review, I think they did a good job adhering to the general story, most of the major conversations and events were there though many were arrived at by different means than the book. I realize its mighty difficult to translate 498 pages into a two hour film, especially when much of it is thought or emotion based. Book to movie-5 stars.
Stand-alone movie review, overall, I think it was visually excellent, the cast did a fine job though I found Stewart's performance a little flat. Continuity was a little stinted as there were a lot of slowmo's and then the action was rushed at the end. There were many nuances that only a Twilight reader would have caught. Stand-alone movie-4 stars. They don't have a 4.5rating so 4 overall.

I saw twilight and it was the best movie i've ever seen and that is saying something because Eagel eye is pretty good too. So there are jokes no one will get unless you actually have read the book. I had my doubts about Kristen, I think many people did. But after seeing Twilight, she is an amazing actor. I couldn't imagine anyone else playing her. Robert Pattinson played the famous Edward Cullen. I really thought the movie would suck because of him, but I was shocked to see that it was very good. He played an excelent vampire. I reccomend this movie to anyone who likes Romance/Comedy/Action.

I walked into this movie thinking - no, knowing - that I would HATE it. I knew that it was going to be a horrible interpretation of the book. But I was very surprised to see that it was very similar to it. I do, however, agree with one of the reviewers in that you should probably read the books to understand everything going on. You don't HAVE to... but I'm sure that you'll like the movie more if you do because you'll get a lot of stuff that aren't explained so well.
Yeah, sure, not everything is the same of the book. I was looking forward to a few parts that never came along. But, overall, I think it was a good movie.
