It deals with a situation where there is supposed to be a free exchange of ideas scientists are being penalized for their views. It is one thing to disagree with a theory in support of another theory but to refuse to hear the other side it shows a dangerous precedent for college education in the near future. Stein presents the argument in an interesting fashion along with some funny moments. I would definitely recommend the movie to young students, especially those interesting in science. People interested in education and the medical profession also need to see this.

Ben Stein did an excellent job of producing and directing this movie. He takes the viewer through the initial evidence, doubting the significance of such an event, through several other similar cases, with the perpetrators own views exposing their psuedo-scientific closed minds.
The corrolation between Darwinism and atheism, Naziism, as well as intanticide, and euthenasia are well documented.
I was very impressed with the professionalism of laying out the story and the evidence behind it.
Bravo Ben!

Loved the delivery and message but hated the fact that I know the content in the movie is fact. It makes you stop and think how far our society has fallen and that this falling away is looked at by many as higher intelligence and enlightenment. The scientific community can not even hide the fact nor do they make any attempt to that they have made up their minds to be close minded in an arena that is to promote free thought, all the while admitting that they have no idea how life began but somehow they know how it didn't. absolutely absurd. This documentary did a wonderfull job of showing this.

This movie was presented differently than I thought the movie was to be presented as I watched the trailor. However, once I got over that shock, I was overwhelmed with the naturally curious nature that Ben approached the subject. The documentary is not about the debate of the origin of man, but our right to have a legitimate and logical debate about the origin of man, since none of us were really around when that happened, nor do we have iron clad proof of how that happened, it leaves the question still for us to wonder and figure out. Ben presents the world view and mindset of those on the two sides of the current debate. He presents the current majority thinking of Darwinism and how those who have a descenting opinion, such as Intelligent Design, are being shoved out of the debate, some losing their jobs or not having contracts renewed for academic teaching positions--not based on their performance, but for teaching or in some instances even mentioning Intelligent Design in the classroom. My definition of intelligent design has been expanded in this movie and I am grateful to Ben for his brave and bold move, knowing he would get very harsh criticism from those who do not believe a debate exists. Thank you for reading my review.

Expelled is a movie that willl definitely make you think, especially if the issue of creationism, or Intelligent Design, versus evolution, is important to you. As Christians, it is important to us, as we believe that our Heavenly Father, God, created the heavens, the earth, and all that is in them. If you think about it, and look at the absolute complexity of life and this planet, you cannot argue against the fact that God, in His complete perfection, made everything. Evolution cannot explain the intricacy of the human body, the perfect mesh of chemicals on this planet, and the nature of every creature. This is more of a documentary than a movie, but Ben Stein puts this in a very interesting way. It may be difficult for little children, but teens and adults will be able to understand it well. We highly recommend this movie. But you'll be shocked at some of the ridiculous anti-God things that are said by the athiests in this movie!

As a practicing scientist ( who believes the debate on any theories should be open) I would highly recommend this movie to anyone wanting to see a fair and balanced look at Darwinian science and the world view of those who believe in only this theory and the theory of Intelligent Design and the world view of those scientists. I think that Ben Stein did an exceptional job in looking at all aspects of the "non-debate" and presenting it in such a way that even if you don't believe in ID it makes you think about the possibilities if you are thinking for yourself and not being spoon fed the current world view in the area of science and research. GO SEE IT...It is a thinking persons' movie!!

Save your money. I went to this movie to see the ID arguments. I was not surprised, same old intellectual dishonesty. This is simply one more attempt by the religious right to say evolution is "only a theory". Ben Stein can take his religious dogma and .... For those of you who are proponents - let me make a comparison -Calling this movie a documentary, is like calling Borat (with all deference to Sacha Baron Cohen - I love his comedy) a documentary.

I was born in the Soviet Union, where atheism/Darwinism was forced to be the only religion, so everything Ben Stein claims is true! People here in the US just don't realize how dangerous Darwinism is! The most terrifying part of the movie was describing a society where theory of evolution will dominate: it was presented as an ideal world. Well, just buy a ticket to Russia and you'll see whether it's going to be true or not... Despite high level of science/education people are arrogant and of very low culture: they lie, steal, hate each other... I'm very afraid of the situation when everybody should share the same thoughts, religion, and beliefs. It smells like a communist concentrating camp for those who oppose...

This movie was worth it just for the interview with Dawkins. What a fraud. He says there is no God, but admits that there might be if God turns out to be an alien race that seeded the planet. As long as 'God' is like Spielbergs little green men who don't try to tell us what to do, it's okay. His book 'The God Delusion' is aptly named but not in the way he means. The God-haters have deluded themselves.

Remarkable. People squashed and discounted out of fear of their threat to the status quo. Out of their own mouths, "leading" scientists and academics say that to question Darwinist Theory is to not practice science. Solid examples are clearly presented of scientists and academics having their livelihood and credibility viciously attacked for having merely mentioned the possibility that Darwin doesn't provide all the answers. The mere mention of "Intelligent Design" brings a prompt death sentance from the scientific and academic communities. The mere mention. Amazing. "Expelled" lays this out clearly and undeniably.
Well done. No punches pulled from either side, nothing taken out of context - both sides said what they believe and what they mean. The establishment loses. Did we know that any rigorous questioning of Darwinist Theory is fundamentally and firmly not allowed? Did you? Very clearly that is the case.
We should be frightened at their harsh and restrictive position and hold on our classrooms and the general public "debate" - or much more pervasively, as this movie shows, the lack thereof.

If you think this documentary only points to the controversial debate on ID and Darwinism you are missing a major point: freedom. This main concept brings to the table world view and life. What is it that makes America great? What is it really worth fighting for? Why live and die? The thought process of the movie shows that philosophical views are determining of human history and science and not the other way around.

This movie has so many valid points which educators and scientists just want to avoid. I think every teacher of the sciences and humanities should see this. Students who view this can be equipped to use their minds with discernment of the material they are being fed in the classroom and text books. I expected Ben Stein to provide a thoughtful discussion of ID - however, this presentation lacks any rigor in its thinking, analysis, or discussion.
Yes, if a person claims to be a scientist, then they will lose tenure and research funding if they do not do science. Ben Stein seems to think that this is a problem - however that is how science works. Just like film makers, if they don't make good films, they will not be paid.
In the film, Stein refers to "problems with the theory of evolution" without once mentioning one of the problems. He then indicates that ID provides solutions to those problems, again without once providing an example. The complete argument is that since we have not, to date, demonstrated the first inorganic-to-organic transition, it is too complicated to be understood in any way other than Intelligent Design.
His statistical argument regarding the probability of more then 200 proteins being created at the same time being highly improbable completely misses the basic theme of evolution - which is that life did not happen at once, the current composition of life on this planet was, and still is being, developed as a result of small changes and adaptations occurring over long periods of time.
The most frightening part of watching this film came at the end - when most of the audience applauded. To me, this was a demonstration of the complete absence of critical thinking - just the type of thinking necessary for real science - and real progress against the significant problems of humankind.
In writing this review I am sorry one cannot give this film no stars at all - stay away!

Ben Stein's movie is an absorbing and very entertaining production. Stein has made his point eloquently and accurately. He has shown all sides of the issue of Darwinian Evolution in academia, from the academy to the apostates, including the gray areas. In the end his side, the side of freedom of expression, association, and conscience, wins. The coup de grace was when Stein, in his interview with Dr. Richard Dawkins, was able to get Dr. Dawkins to admit he believes in a form of Intelligent Design! Of Course Dr. Dawkins' intelligent designer is an ET and could in no way be God. I am serious; Dr. Dawkins said that an extra-terrestrial life form could have seeded life on Earth! Go and see this movie. All those who believe that there is really a God should see this one!

I found Ben Stein's "Expelled..." to be both informative and entertaining. Mr. Stein left much up for debate and at the same time challenged the box which some have created to simplify their lives as well as forward their agenda. There's not enough of that going on in many other areas. The film was an eyeopener in many ways. Mr. Stein was not disrespectful to the science and education communities, but he was serious in his concerns and it was obvious to me that this film was not just put together for it's entertainment value. It provides a challenge to us all to remember what our freedom means and how it can sometimes slip away from us in gradual and subtle ways. I know it has opened my eyes and I will look at things differently as a result, I hope it does the same for others.

Ben does a very entertaining job of gently moving the viewer off of their little narcissistic space into the quite real world of social engineering as put forth by mainstream academia. If there ever were a perfect example of a 'tip of the iceberg', the debate over Intelligent Design would certainly qualify. The 'tip', in this case is the heated debate over Darwinism vs. Creationism and the 'iceberg' is the chilling (NO pun intended) conflict between self-anointed elitists intent on neutralizing all non-sctientific thought, and free-thinking sovereign individuals who find great value in the utilization of morals, ethics and faith-based ideas and their application in society. There is a pro Judeo-Christian bias in the movie, mainly because that is the likely social group that would make a forceful and thoughtful response to the gauntlet thrown down by the film's antagonists. If you disagree about direction public education in the U.S. has taken in the past 30 years, then this film is a MUST SEE. And, if you side with the education community. I also strongly suggest you see it too. Then you will realize that your opponents have take their gloves off and already fighting you tooth and nail, straight onto victory.

"Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed" deserves praise for bringing to the attention of the general public the bias that exists, within American academia, against Intelligent Design. Unfortunately, the movie-makers were not content to merely expose the unfair discrimination leveled against proponents of ID by neo-Darwinists, but proceeded to belittle several prominent neo-Darwinists in very personal attacks. In addition, "Expelled" seeks to identify proponents of evolution with the Soviet Union: Godless communists and builders of the Berlin Wall. One can only wish that "Expelled" had chosen to be more civil. Its message would then have greater credibility to those on both sides of this conflict.

An excellent movie from the supportive side of the Intelligent Design (ID) embargo. Ben interviews professionals who have been 'blacklisted' from employment/position for acknowledging the plausibility of, or who for various reasons support a lifting of educations' one sided restrictions of, ID. A call to action. A valuable teaching tool for the supporters of an open, honest, and inclusive, two sided evaluation of the science. An expose' of the closed minded view of big education.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This movie really shocks you. I can't believe how freedom is repressed even in our country. This movie give both sides to the argument, but shows how many only want one side of things argued. I would recommend this to every parent and teacher.

This truly is a 'must see' movie, whether you agree or disagree with Evolution or Intelligent Design. If you watch the movie, and don't filter your world view into it, it is NOT an expose' for Creationism. Mr. Stein makes only two points throughout - that ID should be allowed to be discussed. And that Evolution is on shaky ground. That's it. He never even discusses or intimates what he personally believes or even if he does. It is simply that the Evolutionists/Darwinists, etc. are not allowing honest and open debate that might challenge their standpoint. Those who call it a Creationist movie didn't pay attention, or are too scared to really consider that science might have something to say other than what they've been drilled to believe. I was pround of Ben Stein in his questioning and in the editing of the film. Unlike Mr. Michael Moore (Fahrenheit 911), Mr. Stein allowed the speakers to say their full piece, often to their detriment, but he kept the continuity of their interviews, and he did not "cut-n-paste" to make them seem to say something other than what they did. Why? Because Mr. Stein was not afraid to allow the truth and the science to speak for itself unlike Mr. Moore. Please see this movie and ask others to see it. Again, agree or disagree, but talk about it. At least be open enough to realize that both sides have some science and deserve equal time. To call us a nation of freedom and truth and then allow our schools, courts, and media to not even consider another option is ludicrous at best, criminal at worst.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

In an age of pseudo-science and inane drivel dominating our media, entertainment, and now many parts of education, this movie is a refreshing wake-up call for folk to think again. "Chance" has been crowned by atheistic evolutionists as the all-powerful force (their version of "the Almighty") behind the existence of all things. This movie helps us to see how foolish and harmful such non-thinking can be, and how our freedom to explore and learn is being stifled and stymied.
Oxford University's Richard Dawkins, one of the premier spokesmen for atheism and evolution in our day, is actually seen and heard to say to Ben Stein in this movie that maybe "aliens" planted life on earth. (And he's more intellectual and credible than intelligent-design folk?) Ok, Professor Dawkins, let's assume the aliens planted the very tiniest beginnings of life on earth millions of years ago. Where did the aliens come from? Who brought the aliens to life? Chasing such rabbits, even across the galaxy, doesn't bring Dr. Dawkins and his followers any closer to real answers, but this movie does!
This movie is a must-see! Ben Stein is engaging, thought-provoking and witty. I was amazed at the range of emotion this movie evokes from one end of the spectrum to the other. Your cage will get rattled in new ways, and your mind will be quickened to think in bigger and more exciting categories.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Great thanks to Ben Stein for starting a public discussion on this elephant in our living room. I would go a long long distance to hear David Berlinski. This is a hugely important subject and Stein and company did a great job in starting to pry the doors open to an empty room. Thank you, Ben Stein and all those involved.

In a very watchable format, Ben Stein shines a light on a chilling truth about the supression of speech and scientific inquiry in a country that is supposed to embody the concept of freedom. It seems the Darwinists don't really know the origin of life, but have concluded it could be anything EXCEPT God, and Intelligent Design proponents also don't claim to know, but have indicated that it could be anything INCLUDING God. The latter represents a more open minded position. My faith is not threatened by Darwinist science, but their science appears to be very threatened by my faith. A sad state in our educational institutions.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Outstanding, gutsy, movie! Expelled stimulated excellent conversation with my children to help them prepare for what is being taught in public school - as fact, instead of theory. Ben Stein hit the nail on the head. The documentary shows that shutting down scientists' funding and discrediting them for pursuing Intelligent Design/research freedom leads to political tyranny. Who is so powerful, as to decide for all of society? Ben Stein exposes those who think they are...Some people in power, who are so prideful they do not want to recognize their Creator, want this movie hushed. All the more reason to go see it and take your kids! P.S. I have two doctorates and I have personally experienced what Ben Stein says to be true.
Yes, I recommend this movie.
