The movie made me laugh throughout. The (former) boyfriend breaks into tears at the drop of a hat, which is funny each time. A few of the characters are very forgettable, except for Kristen Bell in the title role. Mila Kunis, from "That 70s Show", is the most interesting character, although her role feeds in to the typical, predictable behavior in many movies. The plot is weary, " Girl breaks up with boy, boy goes to Hawaii, boy sees girl with new beau at same hotel, boy meets new girl, new girl clashes with old girl because of jealousy, etc." I've left out how it ends, of course, so not to ruin it.
Nothing spectacular in this movie, except for the view of the stars. Yeah, go see it for the laughs and the pretty people.

This movie is not for everyone. The male frontal nudity might turn some off. We enjoyed the laughs and there were plenty of them. We cheer for Jason Segel as he found ways ,with the help of Mila Kunis, to move-on after his painful break-up with his self-focused ex.

Friends from work who are much younger told me I would enjoy the movie. It was very funny and somewhat poignant in others particularly when SM tries to get him to take her back. Loved the full frontal nudity on and barely there speedos on the singer. I would definitely recommend it and I'll probably buy it on DVD so my b/f can watch it!!

I like the lead guy from When I Met Your Mother, and it was good to see the girl from That 70's Show, but really this movie dragged so much between fun parts, it wasn't great. Pretty juvenile jokes, which I'm certainly not above, but they were inserted into lines/action that would just plateau every once in a while and make you realise you're sitting in a movie theatre - kinda like a record that keeps skipping.

Worse movie I have seen this year!! I was so disappointing especially after hearing the good reviews. Even though it was rated "R" and the star had a thing for showing off his "wee wee", the movie was DUMB! I think this is the funniest movie out there. I recommend it to friends with the promise that I will refund their money if they're not laughing out loud at the theatre. My husband said as we were exiting, "that will be in our collection as soon as it's released to DVD. Each character played their part to perfection. I'll be back. Even though many people won't find this movie to be that great, there are some very funny (and yes crude) parts to the movie, in typical Judd Apatow style. Jason and Judd tried to make an updated version of a romantic comedy but got sidetracked by focusing on just the big joke scenes. There was some good character development especially the rock star. But overall the writing was uneven causing you to spend a lot of time just waiting for the next funny scene. Tighter editing would have made this a bigger hit. Also, the "graphic nudity" at the beginning was unnecessary to the story. It's only purpose was to create buzz for the movie. So if you have nothing better to do (or cannot get into Iron Man), cool your heels for a couple of hours at this film. But it is not worth making a special trip to see it. Rent it instead.

Liked the movie and laughed out loud. There is some language ( the F word) also graphic nudity which I didn't mind for a change. Women have always been shown nude and it's high time we see the men !!! Should have an open mind. This movie is not for everyone.

I'm 56 and my wife is 43. We're generally pretty harsh critics of most of the formulaic garbage dished out by Hollywood; too loud, too vulgar, too stupid. This movie, however, was a gem. The nudity, though unnecessary, wasn't offensive at all coming from this goofball leading man.

First of all, the movie is not in the slightest directed towards an unintelligent audience like some have stated. It is crude humor and those who can not handle such a thing should not even think of seeing this movie. Not every comedy is perfectly clean and set to society's morality. This movie is definitely aimed at the younger, more open minded audience. Highly recommended to anyone who has an open mind and loves the unusual comedy. This is nothing like such things as JA the movie. There is some intellect behind it regardless if some people see it or not.

I'm still amazed at what people will call 'crude' and what they will not. Not that Jason Segel's full frontal was necessary, but why is it that we are so uncomfortable with it as a society? Pre-film that was the biggest news about this movie. And really it's not.
I didn't expect Jason Segel to be able to carry this film, but amazing enough, he did. How nice to see a leading man who isn't a sculpted Adonis, but instead a guy who represents most of us. It took some tremendous guts for Segel to go au natural considering the amount of weight we as a crazy society put on looks. And he held his own well. Whereas I'm sure all females look like Kristen Bell and the utterly stunning Mila Kunis.
For my $10, this movie entertainment me for two hours. It is adorable, silly at times, but fun nonetheless. The emotional aspect is something we can all identify with. No, it doesn't carry the punch of some of the Apatow films, but it also didn't simply rely on the easy laugh as SuperBad and Knocked Up did far too often with all crude humor all the time. The humor is more subtle, the way the characters go about their business is not nearly as predictable as one might think and the story is what you'd expect from a romantic comedy.
It's sad that Apatow's crew felt they needed 'shock value' in this film to make it relevant or funny. Even more sad is that full frontal on a male is considered "shock value" when death and violence are not. There are some adult moments in the film, but almost nothing your teen hasn't encountered on their own. The R rating is simply for language and the fact we abhor nudity more than someone chopping another's head off.
You'll enjoy this film for what it is, and if you're looking for a good date movie, you've found it.
