The movie follows the book closely, but the characters don't always seem to be in sync, as they always are in the book. Nevertheless, Sturgess is outstanding as Dexter, and Hathaway pulls her own weight but is not nearly as good. Definitely worth it on the big screen; great European cinematography.
This movie is certainly interesting but it's no Oscar winner. The stories intertwine and develop in interesting ways, but at times it can be a bit hokey.
Not an Oscar contender, but who thinks about that when Vince Vaughn a.k.a. "wedding crasher" is in the movie?
It was funny and it had moments that I wish had never made the final cut. But, it's still an easy getaway from the stress of the holiday season and all that comes with it.
I am definitely jumping on the bandwagon and saying this is the best movie of the summer, if not the year. Oscar performances? Too many to count, but most definitely Ledger's.
I enjoyed Wall-E and so did my family. However, we did find it to be a bit too much -- too many messages consolidated into one hour and a 1/2. It was like "preaching" without the minister. Anyway, it's still enjoyable so add it to your queue instead of going to the movies. The big screen does nothing for the experience.
Even though many people won't find this movie to be that great, there are some very funny (and yes crude) parts to the movie, in typical Judd Apatow style. One of the funniest characters was Paul Rudd as a surfing instructor ... really silly and funny. And, Jason Segel delivers a romantic comedy performance that would make every Jewish mom proud.
While this wasn't nearly the excellent film that the Sideways director previously delivered, there are some hilariously witty and funny scenes in this movie. Thomas Haden Church is hysterical as the black sheep uncle Chuck. Probably the least likable character was SJP's but I would say that's because it really felt under-developed, like it needed more screen time.
