Animation is fabulous; dialog is clever and very well acted by Meryl Streep, George Clooney and Willem Dafoe. I went with my Gen Y daughter, who loved it and the kids in the audience seemed enthralled. I'd recommend this for all ages.

Do not recommend to anyone of any age. Boring for adults. What little storyline there was, it was not understandable to my 6 year old. The graphics were fine, I was not looking for a Pixar movie, but I didn't care about any of the characters.

our 5 year old chose it over planet 51. it is a little slow paced but a very good movie. It has a great story line. The only problem I had was some of the dialogue. Every time a person would typically use a curse word they would say cuss in the movie. This happened over and over. I think the story could of been written around those instances. However, it was still a very good movie.

If I could give this a - star I would. My son was so disappointed that we wasted our family movie night on this movie.
Not only is the story bad, the lines stilted and the movie much like a bad SNL short, but there is much drinking/smoking in this movie AND they use the word "cuss" for every cuss word they want to replace. ie. What the CUSS, Mother Cusser, or just CUSS. After while even my 10 year old said, man I didn't realize there would be this much cussing in this movie!
Maybe this would be appropriate for drunk adults/young adults but definitely not for a 4 year old and a 10 year old. Never have I so wanted my $$ back!
No, I do not recommend this movie.

We brought our 4 1/2 year old and he was interested in it from beginning to end. The animation is great and the pace is comfortable. If your child needs more action, this may not be a great choice, but if you are looking for a good story that both kids and adults can enoy, this is it. Music is excellent as well.

I saw this movie with my three pre-teen daughters and my father. I and my daughters thought it was a good movie. I even enjoyed the deeper moments. My dad thought it was among the three worst movies he has ever seen. Simply put, you will either love or hate this movie, there is no in between (a bit like Napoleon Dynamite).
My wife and I are are very careful about what we let our daughters see, so I could have done without the "cussing" even with the director's lame attempt to sugar coat offensive language with using the actual word "cuss" and "cussing."
Yes, I recommend this movie.

Maybe it is because I was expecting this to be an awesome movie, but I was left a bit disappointed. While I loved the stop-action animation (so great) and the storyline, I found the voiceovers very dull and lifeless. Overall, I would skip it and wait for the DVD. Maybe I also did not enjoy it b/c the people behind us brought their 2-year-old son who kept talking - - - why do peole do this? This movie is not meant for kids under 9 years of age.

This movie is a real pleasure. My friend, her son (9y/o )& I often go to "family friendly" fare. I've sat through some awfulness in this genre. However, "Mr. Fox" is different in a variety of fun ways. The animation has literal texture and is used to convey emotion & move the story along. Characters are allowed depths that most kids' movies would reject. Silence is used to drive points home, and you could hear audience reaction to the emotion during these quiet moments. The movie may not be a wise choice for kids under 7 or 8, whose interest may flag. However, for kids (and adults) who don't demand non-stop, mindless action--and who enjoy solid storytelling and character development--this is a brilliant and substantive "family" film.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

The fact that it is a Roald Dahl story intriugued me since the kids and I love Willie Wonka and James and the Giant Peach. This movie is funny, witty, and definitely a Wes Anderson film. My two girls age 4 and 6 laughed and giggled during the movie and were talking about it the next day. They said they wanted to see it again. I would recommend this movie to adults with no kids also - the characters are interesting and just thinking about some of the funny scenes now makes me want to see it again. If you want a mindless Hollywood kids film, this is not it. If you are creative and want to experience a STORY that was brought to life on screen, this is the film for you!

I took my kids to see this movie (7 and 3 years old). I thought it was slow, and not very funny. My 7 year old did not like the animation at all, and I can't say I blame him. We've moved on to other ways to animate for a reason. I know a lot of people liked it, but for us it was just o.k.

I loved this movie. Although, I gotta admit that the trailer was a bit misleading... it made the movie seem a little more wittier and mature than it really was (but not by a huge margin). But, all in all, I loved it. The children in the movie, Ash and Kirstofferson, will really be the characters the kids can relate to a lot, and Mr. Fox is is a "smooth criminal" kinda guy that the older people in the audience will love!

Fantastic Mr. Fox kept a smile on my face for nearly the entire movie. I laughed quite a bit out loud, too. It has a very dry, off-beat humor that some younger kids may not get, but it's also silly enough to get them laughing. Fans of Wes Anderson's other, more adult-generated films (The Darjeeling Limited, Rushmore, Life Aquatic, etc.) will be fans of this as well. The animation is one of a kind, it doesn't seem as high-tech or expensive as some of the other animated movies coming out these days, but it gets the job done, and creates a whole new look and feel for the movie. I would definitely go see this one again.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

This was a fine movie. But 5 stars? Compared to what? Gone with the Wind? The first Star Wars. ET?
The graphics were exceptional, but that's nothing new. The story is the typical evil capitalists vs the hippies. (Don't blame me, I WAS a hippie). So kids should know it's okay to steal from rich people because they're all evil and deserve it.
So, if you're looking for entertainment and you're a kid or a parent who wants to be able to share a movie with a kid, this one is a very good choice. Just make sure you're ready to tell you child why it's not okay to steal stuff.
Unless you're a socialist and then I guess it IS okay to steal stuff.

The hands-on quality of the animated real figures lends itself to old fashioned physical comedy, it's both hilarious and a relief to eyes unaccustomed to--and sick of--computer animation. The other thing is that the script has the virtue of 1) playing beautifully and hilariously to grown-up minds, and 2) teaching kids about grown-up conversation in a humorous and "family freindly" way. This movie is, above all, beautifully scripted. Do not miss this, and be sure to take the whole family.

While I like Wes Anderson's work, original stop motion animation, and animation in general, this was definitely NOT a PG movie. There was much repetitive violence constantly being excused as "we are wild animals". My almost 6 year-old said he wasn't scared but he was, and beyond the normal peril expected in most movies. Most of the humor was beyond him. And I love animation, but beyond its quaintness, I think stop motion animation needs to be relegated to the ages. It was fun to listen to George Clooney and talented cast do their voice parts and their part in this so-so film will not diminish my opinion of their acting. Sorry but no go for this film.

A cartoon for adults. Quite a story with lessons for everyone. Really funny dialogue. Great cast. I didn't see many kids there. It's really so much for grown ups. But, 10 year olds and up would catch most of the humor.

If you love Wes Anderson, you'll love this movie. If you don't love Wes, well, you still might really enjoy it. It's a great, unique movie that just happens to be animated. Definitely unlike any other "kids" movie I've ever seen. Of course, like other Roald Dahl stories, it's a movie that appeals to adults just as much...though possibly for completely different reasons. I'd probably describe it more as interesting rather than fun or funny, though it's both of those as well.

Beautifully filmed, cleverly written - an instant classic. No, it's not your typical kids' movie, and many children may be confused by its oddball characters and storyline. It's not Kung Fu Panda, nor is it intended to be. It's a Wes Anderson film through-and-through.

Fantastic Mr. Fox is an original, funny, visually creative....and - yes - Fantastic 87 minutes of movie magic. For this it gets 5+ stars! Where it fails is in its deceptive marketing which implies that it is a movie with animated animals for the whole family. At the least it should be PG-13 ....and more likely R rated. Do not be fooled. This is an adult movie, with adult themes, adult situations, adult language, adult violence and complex adult interactions. Children under the age of 13 will be bored and often confused. How sweet that they substituted the word "cuss" for the "f" word! See this amazing movie if you are over 17 but please do not take your under 13 yr olds!
Yes, I recommend this movie.
