I was excited to see this movie, which could be why I was disappointed a bit with the results. Let me first say, it is an extremely sad movie. The hospital scenes featuring his wife in a coma, while necessary, were too plentiful for me. George Clooney was okay in his role, but I thought the secondary story line about his family's land was a bit dumb. I would have liked to have known more about the relationship he and and his daughters had with their wife/mother. Flashbacks could have been used very well in this movie. The best actress was by far his older daughter. Look for her to be in more movies in the future. She was AMAZING! Overall, I say wait for it to be released on video.
No, I do not recommend this movie.

We all enjoyed this movie - - me, my husband, and two sons ages 11 and 14. It had a good story base, good acting, and was not too long. Loved the music and the kid actors were perfect! Just wish someone would make a movie with an alien that doesn't look like a spider or huge insect with the head of a creature from "Aliens." Why can't someone make a movie where the alien looks less creepy and more "human" .....Nevertheless, we still liked it.
Yes, I recommend this movie.

After seeing so many previews for this movie and not really getting a full sense of what it was about, I did not have high expectations for it. Boy was I wrong! This was the best animated movie (and best movie) I have seen all year! Such a great story, so wonderfully scripted, and animated. Great for all ages. I can't wait to own it and see it again. GO SEE THIS MOVIE!
Maybe it is because I was expecting this to be an awesome movie, but I was left a bit disappointed. While I loved the stop-action animation (so great) and the storyline, I found the voiceovers very dull and lifeless. Overall, I would skip it and wait for the DVD. Maybe I also did not enjoy it b/c the people behind us brought their 2-year-old son who kept talking - - - why do peole do this? This movie is not meant for kids under 9 years of age.
It simply had no emotion. As a 41-year-old Mom seeing this film, I expected more as it is geared toward chidren. It was very "gray" in color and simply blah. While there were a few funny moments, I suggest skipping this one and renting the one with Albert Finney from 1970 - - - a movie classic!
