As a regular movie goer I can honestly confirm, along with the 3 others who saw it with us, that this was one of the worst movies I have ever seen. The quality of the cast was at the highest level. Everything else went down hill and never came up. Terrible movie. Do not see. Just plain boring.

We felt as though we had been BONKED over the head and our money taken from us! The movie was about 2hrs long, but felt as though it would NEVER end! It was deceptive; incredible cast, but poorly written. There was no real character development and the random scenes never unified into a homogenous plot. A HUGE let down. I feel sorry that these amazing actors are associated with this film! Best part about the movie was the $4.25 coke!

I was psyshed to see this movie after loving Marshall's Chicago movie. Unfortunately, I felt that something was missing. The female characters (except for Cotillard &Cruz) had little screen time and their characters were underdeveloped- almost to a point of them being unnecessary to the plot.Day-Lewis was good-not as good as Banderas on Broadway.It was a difficult to associate him with a sexy leading man after seeing his previous acting performances. The musical numbers were enjoyable...KateHudson ROCKED! I did feel like Marshall couldn't think of variations from his Chicago musical numbers.These were very similar, but not as good. Its worth seeing if you enjoy light musicals, but I was sort of disappointed after all the hype.

As I describe this fillm to my friends, I have to agree with WatsonVision. It was good, entertaining, but something was missing! Perhaps it was the lack of chemistry between Daniel Day-Lewis and the women in the film. I'm not sure. I did find myself nodding off at one point, but that was toward the beginning. Once it gained some steam, it was fun to watch, and Day-Lewis is always fantastic on screen.

This movie was just okay for me. I had seen the actors on Oprah along with some scenes from the movie so I really wanted to see it. Each individual actor/actress had a part where they sang and danced to a song, separate from the others, those were incredible, but as far a a put together movie it was lacking. I would recommend to see it on the large screen for the beauty of each actor/actress's few minutes in the limelight but the movie itself lacked character. It will not go down as a great movie of all times and thats to bad because t he cast is incredible!

I like musicals, but this one did not make great use of all the talented people they had. This is a love it, or hate it type movie. I went in expecting a great show from the movie trailers I saw, unfortunately, I was disappointed. This movie really drags on in a lot of places. I will give it three stars, however, I think 2 1/2 would better describe it. Some actress were very good...the others left a lot to be desired in their roles. There are a lot of good movies out now, so I recommend seeing one of them instead.

Excellent SHOW, as in NY live broadway but the added Italian foreign movie film making style. Burlesque follies style, the 'sandscape' (stage scene with sand) was UNprecidented!! Unpredictable end, but once there you could guess thier future by sly hint. Sophia Loren IS Italian goddess- always and ever, the public missed her for so long -so this was excellent! All the ladies shine BRIGHT!

I hadn't read up on the movie and was surprised it was a musical. Glad I went with my daughter, she loves musicals too. My husband would have left out and saw a different movie! I really liked it. It took a little for me to catch on to what was going. The costumes should win an award. Everyone played their roles to the nines. Would only recommend to friends if they like musicals. Great entertainment.

Reading critical reviews and hearing from my friends that have seen this movie it is obvious that this is a film you will either love or hate.... very few "luke warms" here. We were entranced the entire movie and loved all of it! Daniel Day-Lewis is amazing! What can't he do? Kidman, Cruz, Dench, Loren & Cotillard are equally terrific! We had low expectations as the primary subject matter (1965 Italian director/film-making) did not excite us. Rob Marshall sprinkles his "magic movie musical pixie dust" on this film and creates something original, moving and entertaining! I guess you know what side of the "love it-hate it" crowd we ended up in. See it!

What a let down...all that talent wasted. This movie was shot like a play on a soundstage where you can see people move the sets. What happened to beautiful scenes of Italy - note: movies can actually show actors interacting with real settings? or better yet what happened to telling a good story well. I am sure Fellini is greatful this movie will not carry the name 8 1/2. I'm only sorry that it is only worth the 1/2 star to make it Nine.

Better than Chicago - this movie is hot! Fergie is off the charts in "Be Italian" . The girls - Kidman, Cruz and Cotillard bring it. I was surprised at how well I enjoyed Daniel Day Lewis in the role of Guido. I was thoroughly entertained. After all the hype, I was expecting something better; At least something with a great soundtrack and artistic dancing. It was a disappointment right from the beginning. Judy Dench was the only respectable perfomance--the others did not achieve their full potential. The musical numbers were poorly directed and forcibly pasted into the story. The story had the potential for some deeper message, but never got beyond scratching the surface and became tedious very quickly. I cannot recommend this film to anyone, and suspect it would only appeal to those who feel like they're suffering screenwriters who are cursed with Italian sexiness. If you want a great musical rent Chicago.

Although I do understand why this movie would be for some people and not for others. I must say that I found it extremely enjoyable to watch and felt like I was actually watching the play. It definitely was one of those movies where you need to watch the whole thing to really grasp the story and you need to pay attention. I love the period, costumes and songs. Really enjoyed the dancing, the singing and the story. If you're not into musical productions and art-driven films, you won't like Nine. But if you are... you'll love it. I disagree with those who have said the plot line is weak. I think it's very deep and deals with the complex ways in which men and women deal with one another. But that said, don't go to this movie for the plot. Go to it for the costumes, the performances by some brilliant female actors, the signing, the production value and the art. It's a feast for the eyes and the ears. Don't wait to see this one at home. Go see it in widescreen.

While I can see why this would be nominated for Oscars, Golden Globes et.al, this movie was, as I suspected artfully good but not for everyone. I found my self wanting to doze off. The cast is phenomenal, the story interesting, but is not very original. The one thing that is good is the cinematography and costumes. I thought this would be a quick movie, but seemed like forever. I LOVE musicals, dancing and singing, but didn't like this one. Daniel Day Lewis' characters is a womanizer with no charm or desirability. His accent sounded like dracula. Loved Marion Coutillard, hated Cruz, Kidman and Hudson. Fergie was just weird. Disappointed.

And this time, it's a musical about musicals. This is no Short Cuts or All That Jazz, but it's entertaining and believes in the intelligence of the audience -- which is a cut above most of what's available at the cineplex.

Outstanding cast. The music was fabulous. Daniel Day Lewis deserves an award. He was amazing. Definately not for young children. Very adult content. Would definately see it again.

I was obligated to see this because my girlfriend likes musicals but even she didn't like this one and apologized for dragging me along. She did like Mama Mia for an indication of her Movie taste. My sister who accompanied us did like Nine but she likes almost everything. Low points were Kate Hudson and Nicole Kidman who disinterest me. Sophia Loren reminded me of the self indulgent elderly Spock appearance in the last Star Trek movie. In the car scene with Daniel Day-Lewis she looked good but in every other shot she looked overcooked like a Miami retiree. The one and only star is shared by Penélope Cruz who was smokin' hot and Marion Cotillard who also gave quite a performance.

The actors were all great! Most of the story was told with immages. The way the storied was layered was genius. If you just want to sit back and be entertained this flick is not for you. If your not an artsie person you might not get the point. Too many unresolved issues by the end of the movie. I would have felt better afterwards if I new just a little more about how Guido ended up in his personal life. But that may have been were the storie realy ended.
