this movie was just what the end of summer ordered crazy mindless fun movie......if you go in to it with lower expectations you will love it.......i saw it at a drive-in so it wasn't in 3d but see it in 3d if you can.....not for the faint at heart though loads of blood gore and nudity....if you can deal with all that.....you will love it

Every character in this movie is hate-able and you want them to die--and, for the most part, they do. There's plenty of nudity, blood, severed bodies, and bad dialog to keep things simple and primal. I found the cameos to be amusing and well placed. You know what you're going to get with a movie like this one and Piranha delivers the goods. I hope there's a sequel.

Unlike other recent 3-D horror, this movie goes past corny to downright cheesy gore fest. I loved it. The over exaggeration of nudity, the over the top gore, and the really awesome 3-D effects made for a highly entertaining movie. I believe it could have been a little longer, but the ending was brilliant. I highly recommend this movie!!!

If there might be any reason to see "Piranha 3D," it would be for the nudity. Having said that, I recently re-saw "The Lover," which contained about the same amount of nudity, but which was both erotic and beautiful, a testament to the female form. "Piranha 3D" lacks any kind of originality or suspense, the dialogue is dreadful, and the special effects are terrible. To have 50-some extras thrashing around in a pool of red water, over and over again, reflects the lack of creativity these film makers brought to the film. And a note about the 3D, which may be a problem with the film or possibly with the projection, but there were visible 'ghosts' behind characters in several scenes

This movie falls into the genre best described as: hotties get chewed to shreds by vicious dinosaur fish amidst intermittent lesbian encounters. I believe this genre can be found near foreign film and family comedy. Within this context, I give this movie an A...on any respectable scale: F. Stacked to the rafters with gore - that bears an unfortunate resemblance to BBQ pork ribs - as well as breasts, butts, and toolbags this movie has the proper elements for its type. There are a couple appearances by rather notable actors that will make you laugh merely because they're in this movie. This movie lacks comedy. Now, yes, you'll laugh; but, more from discomfort than elation. This movie fulfills all the requisites of an exploitative film: visceral sexuality, gratuitous nudity, and absurd violence. But falls short by lacking substantial comedic elements (even if sophmoric). As for the 3D, well, so far only A Christmas Carol has actually been worth seeing in 3D. Nothing really jumps off the screen the way 3D attractions do at Universal Studios or the Franklin Institute. Still this movie is worth a look if you're craving gore, bodyshots, and Kelly Brook (and Ving Rhames using a boat propeller like a handheld egg beater).

Sometimes a cheesy throw away movie gets it all right. Piranha 3D is pitch perfect from its classic opening homage to "Jaws" to it shocker ending.
Elizabeth Shue is solid (and very hot) as a Sheriff trying to keep a rowdy crowd of naked teenagers in line for spring break.
Jerry O'Connell is hilariously evil as a "Girls Gone Wild" tycoon who is more predator than the toothy fish in the title.
The film also has more hot lesbian action than a Howard Stern special and a British model who will linger in your head long after the credits roll.

This movie was fun for what is was, I wasnt expecting to go in and see a movie that was the best movie I have ever seen. I went because I needed a laugh and thats what I got, well..... Kind of. Yes there was lots of boobs, but you can expect that seeing it was filled with spring breakers. So just don't go in with high expectations and you will be fine. It was meant to be a fun movie and thats what it is. I have been known to walk out of movies that were mediocre or less, but I stayed in this one.

If someone says they didn't like this movie, they shouldn't have been there! It was PERFECT but not if ur squeamish or a prude. You know who you are and have no business watching a piranha movie mostly set at a wet T-shirt extravaganza. It was all I hoped for, from the most amazing and epic massacre scene to the most subtle (but great!) Jaws reference at the beginning (and not just the cameo). It was made for people who love horror movies. I was scared by the original as a child, you would never catch me in a river. After this...never gonna go in water again especially a lakle hahah. It was FUN. Over the top, super bloody, boobies (both silicone and cgi) and That's what we all wanted ... and this movie delivered it all covered in the most blood and gore I've ever scene. It was great. See it. Bring a squeamish friend(their reaction will be priceless!)

Too often today, movies aspiring to recapture the manic energy and over-the-top schlock of 70s-80s exploitation cinema fall painfully short. Their ad campaigns promise gore and sex galore, but the overly slick productions featuring prepackaged stars from the CW which actually make it to theaters look more like the car commercials and music videos of today than the grindhouse bloodbaths of yesteryear. PIRANHA 3D, however, is a genuine throwback to an era fondly remembered but rarely done justice. Like the environmental horrors of the 70s and the slasher sagas of the early 80s, this no-holds-barred exercise in excess delivers 90 minutes of logic-free blood and boobs with aplomb. It's as unapologetically dumb as a movie can be, but it's more fun than the last ten horror remakes to hit multiplexes combined, and the fact that it refuses to ever try and be anything more than a mindless, topless gorefest makes it one of the most honest and forthright productions in recent memory. High art? No. Grand Guignol? Yes. Worth every penny of the admission price.

I really loved Piranha 3D and had a blast at my midnight screening.
There was never a dull moment for me. The first half while relatively quiet compared to the second half is funny and filled with bountiful shots of spring-break revelry and aesthetically pleasing nudity that's all in good fun. The set up for the characters was competently done and even though no one is going to win an award for best acting here, there was no example of distracting bad acting and the cast sold their two dimensional characters. We get enough development of our main characters that they aren't just generic nothings when the carnage starts.
Once the second half kicks in, Aja takes the film into overdrive and throws one jaw dropping gruesome set piece after another at the viewer.
My audience was roaring with laughter and clapping at gag after gag whether it was the "ballet" sequence with its beautiful eye candy (worth the ticket price alone) or some of the nasty goodness that Aja sends our way during the gory chaos of the film's second half. Despite the overall humorous nature of the material, there were still some tense moments and a few places where you find yourself in the curious position of both laughing at and feeling unsettled by what you're seeing on screen.
Aja perfectly captures the tone when he says it is "Gremlins for adults".
I expected skillful direction from Aja, and he delivered. He uses his skill at building tension that he put to frightening good use in Haute Tension in a different way here. Often, he will build anticipation for an over-the-top gag by telegraphing and then delaying as you ask yourself whether he's really about to go where it looks like he's headed and then "Bam!" he really does go there.
In addition to delivering the goods and delivering them well, the film also gives us several pleasing nods at other genre films and fun cameos from Richard Dreyfus and Christopher Lloyd.
This film knows how to have a guilty good time!

I thought this movie would be cheesy, yes, even a bit ridiculous in plot but I had no idea I would be kicking myself for having spent so much money for such a HUGE bomb!!! Jaws was way better and the effects on that movie were dated. The plot was horrible, the lines were deplorable (dead, lifeless...much like the plot), and it was just a poor excuse to show a great deal of porn for an R rating. The 3D was pointless as most of the movie did not even jump out at you. Scary, no, but very gory.
Some people commented it was funny. Are you kidding?? Funny, that I went and spent nearly $40 on a stupid movie and snacks. Stay away from this movie, keep your money in your pocket. It was a waste of time unless, of course, you're a guy that needs a good shot of soft porn for the day!

The movie was corney as hell.....not many 3D effects. All the boobs and blood your heart desires.....you can tell they will be making a sequel but they need to go back to the drawing board and make it worth paying damn near $15 per tix!!!!

Ok, only go see this if you enjoy gory, hilarious, ridiculous movies. This will not win an Oscar and I am sure many people will not like it, but I enjoy movies like this. The 3D was very good, and the killing and gore was off the hook. I laughed so much. This movie is not for serious close-minded people.

Fun and fast - gratuitous everything. Piranha does what it set out to do plus a little more. Loved the, dare I say, lighthearted humor smack in the middle of two unrelentingly violent bloody segments!

Never seen a 3D movie before and thought this would be fun. Some of the scenes were really amazing but overall the movie was just plain awful. Now I know what trash the classic movie Jaws would of been if it would of been made now. I didn't do my research for this movie before I paid my 12 bucks and that is my bad. We walked out one hour into the movie.....I would of walked out sooner if I wouldn't of paid 12 bucks! Yes there is plenty of pointless nudity, yes there is blood and gore. Yes there are idiots in the movie that you can't wait for them to get eaten. And all that crap is there for is to take away from the fact that the writers couldn't come up with anything better than a basic story. So if you are mindless and the few brain cells that you have like nudity, blood and stupid people.....go for it. If not....stay home and save your money.

If you are considering going out to see Piranha 3D this weekend, you are probably already a fan of the category. Lots of blood, nudity, screams, dancing, bikinis and beautiful people being eaten by angry piranhas.
Here is the best part. Yes, it delivers on what is expected of this category - BUT, it also sports beautifully captured scenes, effects and talented (not to forget beautiful) cast. The best part - It's hilarious. The story is surprisingly clever and they even manage to get some romantic tension in there for your date to enjoy.
I was pleasantly surprised and besides the obvious warning for gruesome scenes. This movie might just exceed your expectations.
