You will walk out of this movie singing the familiar songs. I saw the play and, while not quite as good, was loads of fun and the scenery is beautiful. Brosnan has no singing voice, but makes up for it by his presence. The rest of the cast is great. Wasn't sure about Streep in the lead role even tho I love her as an actor, she proves herself and more. Go see this flick.

This is a fun movie, no issues, no messages! It is a great interpretation of the stage version with outstanding scenary, choregraphy, and joy. I would see this movie again and again, and I will surely add it to my DVD collection when released. Go see it and chase your blues away!!

Wow! what a fantastic flick! It was gorgeous scenery excellent music and fun fun fun. Pierce Brosnan was excellent in his first on screen singing role and Meryl Streep showed that she can belt out the songs and dance. I loved the costumes, the gorgeous backdrop and the fun and tender moments. A must see.

Definately a grilfriends movie. It was funny, entertaining and I found myself singing along with the movie. You can't help but get into the movie. As I was laughing and singing I realized that I was getting older as I knew all the words to the songs! I looked around in the audience and there were only a few that were my age. The rest were older I would say in their 50's or older. I ended up buying the sound track and my very young son started dancing to it. He even started singing! A must see with your girl friends.

Love Musicals like I do and have been feelin like Hollywood had been giving you the cold shoulder well stop feeling that way honey, this movie makes you laugh, sing, cry, sing, it makes you want to get up and dance with the adorable Meryl Streep and I am starting to fall in love with Amanda Seyfried, she is something to to keep your eyes peeled for. Pierce Brosnan is not only fierce as Bond but quite the croner, I had no idea he was so well rounded in his acting skills. For everyone else in the movie, they were a fantastic supporting group and I wish I could name them in this lil space and Abba Music, period. Please go see this movie and relax your gonna feel like you're on vacation.

This movie was a lot of fun! I went with my girlfriends and we laughed so much. The scenery is absolutely beautiful; it makes you want to go the the Greek Island today. (Well, we will have to settle for the local beaches for now). Everything was so clear, colorful, and bright you feel like you are there. It starts out a little strange but before you know it your feet are tapping to the beat and you're singing along. It's been a long time since I've seen a movie that made me smile and feel upbeat all the way through. We can't wait to see it again. Oh, and we're looking for the sound track today! Must see.

If u are looking for a film to lift the spirits, make u feel good about life then this is it. I agree ex James Bond cant sing but that doesn't matter eveyone looks like they are enjoying it & that is what makes it believable. I had been to see the stage production & thought the audience would react the same way with a bit of interaction(singing at least!!!) bware that was not 2 b. My girls & I were the only ones much to everyones bemusement!!! Just enjoy & that means u guys 2!!!!!

Fun from start to finish. The songs, the setting, the cast. Who cares if Pierce Brosnan can't sing, just watch and have fun and enjoy. That is the point! Some of us just need to escape from high gas and food prices, the political conflicts and campaigning and enjoy a cool day in the cinema darkness. This movie fills the bill.

Was not sure what to expect when my wife (who is from Greece) pushed to go see it. I had no idea it was a musical. Sorry, do not keep up with that stuff. The concept and script was rather silly but the young bride I guess made it somewhat plausible. However, she killed it for me when she failed to say "I do" after ALL that trouble. Pierce cannot sing but somehow carried the role out. I loved Julie Waters, very cool and "Sex in the City"ish. I had my doubts about Streep except I really liked her singing "Winner takes all". Not bad, not bad. And oh yeah, the scenary helped (a lot). As a older man secure in his sexuality, I have to say that my contemporaries probably would not like the film much, but it grows on you as it progresses. The audience (not my contemporaries) were dancing in the aisles and applauding like it was a concert. If you do not like musicals, you will not like it. If you do (ala, Phantom of the Opera or Cats) you will love it. Warning: ABBA does NOT sing, just background music while a cast of thousands sings the full menu of ABBA pop that even 20 year olds will appreciate. OK, go see it and dare to be entertained!

Meryl Streep steals the show! She can sing, and she has you laughing, then crying, throughout the whole movie. Julie Walters and Christine Baranski are hilarious as Streep's best friends. Amanda Seyfried can also sing and is a perfect new cast as the daughter. The 3 fathers, Pierce, Colin, and Stellan, were great. Pierce can't sing, but nobody in our theater cared. Wonderful ABBA songs! I'll go see this movie 2 or 3 more times!

I love ABBA's music, Seyfried and Streep were terrific in their roles. However, Streep's obnoxious friends and some off-color references made this from a PG rated wonderful film to a pretty good PG 13 one. Try this film, you will have a joyous time.

Having seen the play in Chicago, Las Vegas and New York for a total of 5 times and loved it every time as if it were the first, I wasn't sure what to expect of the movie.. If you enter in a bad mood, you will exit on air. Great movie, especially for all the Moms who can barely remember being a dancing queen. The men in the movie are hysterical Be sure to sit through the credits.

I preface this review by saying that I'm a huge fan of the musical Mamma Mia. That said, this poorly cast and disappointingly sung flight of cinematic fantasy pales in comparison.
Amanda Seyfried never becomes as lovingly playful as her character is written, every line on Meryl Streep's wizened visage merits its own close-up shot and Pierce Brosnan's vocals never achieve the fatherly tenderness and loverly passion they're aiming for, settling instead for intermittent comic relief which I can only believe was not intended by the filmmakers.
Overall, I'd wait for the DVD.

This is one of most fun movies to come out in a very long time. It was non-stop fun from the first moment. Meryl Streep is marvelous and has such a fantastic voice. God bless him, Pierce Brosnan cannot sing but was perfect for the role and made it more believable by the fact he could not sing. The music is great, and the scenery is just beyond beautiful. This is one you will want to see again, and then buy it to look at late at night at home while cuddling with that special someone. Definitely a don't miss movie. Good to see a musical that is good for the whole family for a change.

My friend and I absolutely loved this movie. And the Greek Islands are a beautiful backdrop for this music and fun packed movie. Also the perfect cast was chosen, Sophie is a nice surprise with a great voice! I will be seeing this movie again soon!

I have seen the play twice and loved it! The movie closely followed the play and is just fluffy, summer fun. I was impressed with Meryl Streep's singing and it was interesting to see her in this typle of role; however, I thought she was a little too old for the part. Definitely a movie to see with girlfriends.

An absolute blast! Excellent from start to finish. The best movie of it's kind since "Grease". If you want to forget all your troubles and woes - go see this. It's the ultimate 'feel good movie' of this year. Pure escapism and loads of fun. You will smile and feel happy from the opening frames to the very last end credit (And stay for the end credits!) Just go see it and have the time of your life!
