This movie is a great adaptation of the stage show. The energy is infectious. The music and choreography were wonderful. In most cases, the actors could actually sing! I thoroughly enjoyed it.

The movie is highly entertaining with a great performance from Meryl Streep. You leave the theater smiling, having enjoyed the escape, the dance, and the music. While Meryl Streep is not the classic young model, you can't keep your eyes off of her. She is terrific. I do think that Pierce Brosnan should have had a dubbed in voice, but he is still great looking and did a good job otherwise. My mother absolutely loved it and even my husband felt it was a good movie.

If you loved Mama Mia on Broadway, you'll love the movie. There were times when I thought Ms. Streep was too cheesy in her role as Donna, but when she sang "Winner Takes it All" - Wow! Take the fun of the Broadway show and set it in the incredible Greek island location and you get a movie that makes you walk out smiling and singing. I couldn't wait to get home to pull out my Mama Mia cast album. Amanda Seyfried was absolutely delightful as Sophie - and her voice was a big surprise. Although Pierce Brosnan didn't pull off the musical numbers flawlessly, he made a great Sam. Baranski, Walters, Firth and Skaarsgard made a good supporting cast and Dominic Cooper was hot - actually made for a steamy scene or two with Seyfried. Once you get through a couple of cheesy numbers - when Donna first sees the three "dads" and "Money, Money, Money" the rest is great fun.

I really enjoyed this movie. It was very entertaining. Non-stop fun and I hear it was very close to the Broadway show. Beautiful scenery made me want to move to Greece! I will own this movie. I can't wait for it to come to DVD. See it on the big screen if you can though. It was well worth 10 dollars.

The whole theater got involved in this movie. People sing along and belly laugh through most of the movie. I went with my Mom, sister, and good friend and we had a blast!! What a feel good movie. I will definitely be buying this one as soon as it is on sale. Faye Dunaway is fantastic!

I went to see the play (and I LOVE plays) but I have to say this was ten times better. I took my mom to see it and needless to say we needed a bottle of wine and a box of tissues...we laughed, we cried and we sang along. Best ever!!

Both my wife and I enjoyed ourselves. We are both fans of musicals but neither of us had been that wild about Abba. The best parts of the movie were the songs which had not received wide play before. I think the reviews of Brosnan were all correct - he should never be allowed to sing in public, but he was perfect in the part. The scenery, both the landscapes and the people were great. I think the gal who played Sophie will be around awhile. She looks and sounds great. Go see.

What a please the music was fun and I'm nagging anew to go to the grecian isles. Merle Streep was again a pleasure along with Colin Firth and the awful sinigimng of Pierce Brosnan (who cares). Would of danced in the aisles if I could it was fun - fun - fun. Would recommend in a heartbeat!

This movie is just plain FUN! A rambunctious, non-stop party. I saw it twice this weekend - once with my 70 yr old mother and again with my sister and nieces (14 and 8). We all agreed that this is the chick flick of the summer - it appeals to all ages and will have you singing along and resisting the temptation to jump up and dance in the aisles. Who knew that Meryl Streep had such a voice? And Amanda Seyfried is wonderful as Sophie. Even Pierce Brosnan's lack of singing ability is a minor flaw - his portrayal of Sam is right on. The supporting cast is fantastic and the choreography is well done. 'Dancing Queen' takes the prize for the best number; although 'Does Your Mother Know' is a close second. Julie Waters quirky Rosie and Christine Baranski's gold digger Tanya are perfect complements to the former free-spirited Donna. And Firth and Skarsgard round out the dad lotto with terrific performances. A great movie to take your Mom or your daughter to see. Two very enthusiastic thumbs up.

My opinion ended up being much better than it first started. The acting and singing in the beginning was too far overdone and over dramatized. I even thought Meryl Streep was really stooping beneath herself with her vast accomplishments. I was dreading the singing and just looking forward to pure dialog. As the movie progressed it did improve. It became more heartfelt. Loved Pierce Brosnan even though his singing was absolutely horrible but he's just so good to look at. Colin Firth had a surprisingly nice voice and so good to look at too. It did end up being a very funny and delightful movie.

OK, once you get past Pierce Brosnan NOT being able to sing, you really get into the fun and farce of this musical. The songs and the landscape are great - the acting is fine. Meryl, though she is really good in this film, is still typical Meryl in face and expression. The entire rest of the cast makes up for these 2 leads' shortfalls.

I would recomend this movie to a friend who liked comedy and didn't need all the questions that came up in the movie to be answered. It had a kind of foolish quality, meaning people were beng silly expecting people to laugh at them. What disapointed me was that there wasn't a conclusion that I thought was best. I also had questions about the Mamma Mia world, that were never answered. The Characters were musical characters, meaning they were very one dementional. This often that bothered me.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed Mamma Mia! Having seen the Broadway version, we were a bit hesitant to see the movie version because we feared that it might not be as good. We needn't have been concerned because it was simply wonderful! All of the actors were perfect for their roles, and each gave an engaging performance. Honestly, the scenery was spectacular! Of course, this is something that cannot be done on stage, so it truly added something special to the movie. The music was great, of course, and some of the actors are extremely talented singers. Pierce Brosnan does a terrific job and gives his singing his all even though this is not his forte. However, this allows the viewer to embrace his character.
Meryl Streep is wonderful! Julie Walters and Christine Baranski are fabulous! Amanda Seyfried as Sophie is positively darling and a great singer! You must stay until the end of the movie to watch the "on stage" performances of the main adult characters. Hilarious!
